Active basses are a goddamn nuisance. From now on, I'm only buying passive ones - for precisely the reason that I can not remember to unplug them.
always had a soft spot for these
They speak to me some futuristic language I can't understand. This would get my GAS going except that even the devil on my shoulder knows there's not the slightest chance of me finding the money before someone buys it.
the bass sounds better than ever
Where are my car keys... Glad it's all worked out ok for you mate. -
I quite like the idea of this just to re-experience using a four track. For a time I borrowed a Tascam Portastudio 4-track tape recorder thing from a college and in these days of unlimited tracks, plugins etc. etc. I kinda miss the old thing.

Looks like this one has found a new owner.

Thought about this and decided that I'll just give it to any BCer that wants it. It's a Roland EP-760 semi-weighted digital piano. 75 keys since one of the Es is dead and I can't be bothered to have it fixed (probably just a lose or worn switch in the mechanism). Some of the marketing balls from Roland # Roland's most realistic piano sounds and 64-voice polyphony Not that realistic anymore, but for the time it was decent. The piano sounds are actually pretty good, the church organ is canny, and the rest are ok. # Intuitive operation via dedicated buttons and simple LED display It has very few features compared to new Yamahas etc. so damn right it's intuitive. # 65 preset songs for listening enjoyment or practice Utter waste of memory chips. # Onboard reverb and chorus effects for "concert hall" sound Roland obviously don't visit many concern halls. The 'verb and chorus are passable. Owning a Roland digital piano has never been this easy! You can say that again - I'm giving this away. And thanks to its 5W + 5W output power, you can rest assured that your musical efforts will not go unnoticed. Of course, you can also connect headphones and play late at night or early in the morning without disturbing your family or neighbors. For added flexibility, the ep-760 has two audio outputs (stereo) that allow you to connect your piano to your home stereo system. If you are considering adding a sound module to be controlled via MIDI, you can connect the sound module’s outputs to the ep-760’s audio inputs, so that no additional amp is required. Ok here's the main plus points. The built in speakers are handy for home use. The two audio outs are very useful, and the MIDI in and out are exactly why you want this. It can act as a midi controller (just keys, there are no assignable knobs) or receive GM midi for playback. It also has a simple two track recording facility. I'm offering it without a stand (since I broke it), without the music stand (which I never got). without the manuals (lost), and without the power adapter (which I also lost and have been using a Maplin multi selectable one). Free if you want to pick it up or meet me somewhere in Tyneside. Otherwise, I'd ask you to pay shipping (which I'm guessing would be £15-20 but would find out for anyone who thinks they'd want this). Just getting rid of this because I have another digital piano which I never play either.

That's some hardcore tech right there. Want one. Not that I have any rack equipment... or many pedals... but that's beside the point.
-
Watching one of the extras on an Arch Enemy dvd the other day, the lead guitard was talking through his gear and he basically had a set up where he had a pedal unit (+1 off-stage for his guitar tech to use if required) with multiple switches that controlled his various rack effects. E.g. Switch 1 might activate the rack mounted chorus and noise gate Switch 2 would turn off the chorus etc. and only apply distortion etc. etc. He showed you the rack, pretty sure they were separate effects units from various manufacturers. Anyone ever heard of this kind of preset pedal control?

If you're recording the audio separately then anything along the lines of Audacity, Sonar or probably even the software that comes with the pod will do it nicely. On the video recording/editing/importing audio side, wish I could help more - but the only good video software I've used was Adobe Premiere. Guessing you didn't want to spend that kind of money though.

I bought a few of these from a random shop and probably get on better with them than most. They're from Plectro and I use a "Thick bass" version (has the point - like the dark blue one above) which is black. The hole means I seem to lose my grip etc. on them a bit less easily than others I had (keep losing plecs).
How come I've never heard of this place before?
Mad innit. I have relatives in High Spen. So I'm driving to see them one day a few months back and notice a guitar shop as I'm passing. Checked interweb when I got home and lo and behold... Meant to call in yesterday but didn't have time.

Lol. ^ Yes. http://www.jakesguitars.com/traben-bass-169-c.asp

The new Guitar Guitar (on Granger Street) has a pretty good selection of bass guitars to fiddle with. If you want a hidden gem and have a car, then apparently (not called in yet) Jake's in High Spen is one of the few in the UK to stock Trabens.
No more cabs of any variety until later in July!
Ah, that could work out well for me then. Had a panic attack that you were going to say there'd be no more Compacts before October. Edit: Incidently, I prefer the look of the standard Compacts over the Vintage too. -
Just bought an amp head off him. Arrived safely packaged and in perfect nick. Most importantly, he's an absolute pleasure to deal with. Thank you mate.

Someone help me stop curling my fingers please
Eight replied to cameltoe's topic in Theory and Technique
Selotape around the middle knuckles (the bits that bend the fingers as opposed to the ones that hit chavs in the nose)??? Maybe the extra resistance to bending them will help discourage your subconscious from trying? -
