1. If Twiggy's tips don't help, and nothing else seems to work. Then try ASIO4ALL. It always sounds daft to use an asio wrapper on a card which already has asio support - however, some interfaces come with absolutely rubbish asio drivers. What's the problem with your midi controllers? How does one disrupt the other? Since it is certainly possible to use more than one USB midi controller, you shouldn't be having an issue.

Damico Basses

Here you go. Not a great site mind. http://www.damico-guitars.com/
3. On a loosely related note: anyone got any genius suggestions of how I can do some transcriptions at work? i.e no bass/instruments and without installing any software. Unfortunately I'm not so talented I can do it like a classical composer and just write the stuff straight on to notation paper after one listen on the iPod. All my projects have stalled and I'm stupidly bored right now.
4.
I'm so excited I've just let out a little wee.
Hahahahahahah
5. Due on friday apparently.
6. I like this very much. Despite being a 5... and fretless... and not black... I think its lubberly.
7.
This seriously cannot be healthy!
Oh I dunno. If there's something you enjoy then what could be healthier than spending lots of time doing it? God knows we all spend enough time doing things we don't enjoy.
8. Ok, just looked at that on Amazon. Should we get the book or DVD?
9. Fosters -> Screen on the anyone got the horn bit. Fantastic video. Think I'll be buying a Trace Elliot head then.
10. Pay more attention to what you're doing in practice time. The only way I've managed to learn the notes that I have done is to pay attention to what the notes actually are when I'm playing stuff for fun. And practice more scales. I love scales - boring as sin to play but playing them up and down the fretboard really beats the pants off sitting trying to learn each note on paper. Having said that, http://www.musictheory.net/trainers/html/id81_en.html
11.
are either of the Curbows passive? I thought they were active. I've played a few and I like them
I think they're all active. Edit: Although you do see some sites listing them as Bartolini passive pickups running in to an active circuit.
12.
Ta but a bit worried about apparent quality issues with the Curbows
??? Well I can only speak for mine but it's my main bass - played for at least two hours every day since I bought it and I've not noticed anything at all wrong. I'm not sure what else would have that sound. Anything else have a luthite body, ebanol fretboard and Bartolini pickups? Edit: Could take a look at the Ibanez Ergodyne range... but I don't know if they're just active. Luthite bodies on the older models, wood on the newer ones. I don't think you'd get the same pickups or the ebanol neck but could be worth a shot.
13. You might have heard the Freemasons cover that track recently. Edit: a dance remix that was annoyingly popular. I think part of it sampled a Chic track but I don't know which bits or which track.
14. Curbows aren't that expensive, are they? There was a Tanglewood Curbow (which seemed identical to my Cort except for the finish) for sale on this forum not too long ago. I don't recall seeing it go so it might still be available if you search. Edit: I think it was under or around two hundred squid.
15. Why have you gone through so many basses? I'd be careful here - this will be a bass you can't ever get rid of (since it's a present from the missus) so are you confident you're someone who can put the right spec together for this?
16.
The idea is you buy the logo and put it on your own t-shirt.
Eh? Why on earth would anyone want to go shopping for a t-shirt and then have to put the graphic on themselves?!
17. Welcome. *LOVE* the Les Paul shape with the double bass style tail piece. That is hot!
18. If it came with a free Compact then I'm in. Actually I'd probably want one anyway - as long as it was in black.
19.
There's no doubt that some people have sweat that kills strings a lot more quickly than others.
Sounds plausible to me. Interestingly, but somewhat disgustingly, I have saliva that can't be used to seal envelopes. I'm the only person in the office who has to use either self-sealing ones or glue the buggers down.
20.
AAAH - the wonders of tabulation!!
Ok yes, I could probably have played it by ear (or should have tried). But it was just a tune I felt like playing once or twice and I'm not so skilled that I could do it all by ear (hey I'm a newb) without spending ages figuring it all out. I didn't really think that the YouTube clip might be different from the version everyone had used for their transcriptions so the whole thing started to get under my skin. Bands should release only one version of a song - and always in the same key. Looks like F# is the "proper" one.
21.
I'll get my coat!
And a towel.
22. Cheers guys.
23. Wish I could find my copy of the album. But yeah, looks like either YouTube has done something or maybe they did pitch shift it for the music video. At least I'll sleep tonight without thinking about buying a new tuner or that my ears are shot.
24. YAY! It's finally here. But wait... they've dropped Sean Yseult from the artists page. Bastards!
25. www.ultimate-guitar.com - so not a very reliable source. Except somewhere I have the Guitar World transcription of this and I'm pretty sure the main riff was the same as the tab posted. Unless YouTube has repitched the video??? Edit: Cheers Bassman, I'm glad its not my ears then.
