1.
on my amp i have the bass, mids and treble near enough all the way up, i kinda like the sound but i hear it's wrong?

on my amp i leave the EQ flat or cut much back then it's really quiet... which really puzzles me.
Which is it... all the way up or flat/cut back? I don't wish to sound condescending but you are aware that your EQ settings will affect the perceived output volume as well as tone (though you may well have to rein in the master output to prevent clipping). Turn all your EQ back and it will sound quieter for a given fixed output setting than if you turn all of the EQs up
 2. If you have everything boosted on your amp you have nowhere left to go! 'When a where lad...' I thought mid had to be cut regardless of what amp and/or cab; smiley face/gull-wing shapes on graphic were where it was at but each venue, bass, cab, amp etc brings its own EQ settings. Try starting with everything set flat then establish what you don't like... too bassy - roll some off, too nasally - tweak the mid back etc. Remember a little can go a long way and you can cut as well as boost!
 3.
because this is an english forum, for people with brains?
Patently not!
 4. Hi Dave I realise that this isn't one of your amps (doesn't even contain a valve ) but wondered if you could give me (or my Sparkie mate to be specific) any pointers! I have just taken a Gallien Krueger 800rb in part ex. It has a degree of distortion (buzz/fuzz particularly as the note decays but heard pretty much all of the time) which isn't attenuated by reducing the input gain, depressing the -10 db pad, or using basses with lower output. I've also tried plugging into either of the pair of 300watt outputs and the separate 100 watt output, still the same. I'm aware that each poorly amp could be so for a multitude of reasons but is there a particular area you'd zone in on to check first i.e. output capacitors, some aspect of the preamp, transistors... I'm trying to source the schematic but my mate is prepared to just go through the amp checking tolerances on whatever he can but is there a common failing on solid state amps or a first port of call for distortion problems? Really appreciate any input. Cheers John
 5. I've established that the power up/down thump and some extraneous noise that I was initially alarmed about with this amp was exacerbated by a generator powering traffic lights in our street and a FW Sparkie who wired our kitchen. However there is still a bit of harmonic distortion with the amp. A mate is a Sparkie (didn't wire the kitchen) and he's going to look at the amp but really would like a schematic. I've Googled and established that schematics are available (various USA sites offering them for sale and a couple of forums have them available to members but I'd feel a fraud signing up to a forum just to access a freebie) and after speaking to a very helpful BeyerDynamic on the phone they offered to email me one... but sent the owners manual. Does anyone have a pdf or scanned copy?
 6. Dave may be a newbie but I've known him years and he's a top guy, so you've no worries in that respect
 7. Different (unless you're MA)! Is it home or factory made?
 8. Tuning by ear at a gig is one of my pet hates. I don't like it when a guitarist that I might be playing with does it and I like it even less when I go to see bands. Fair does if you've slipped out a bit during the song, a quick bling on the 5/7 harmonics to get you back but not every song and every string... buy a guitar that stays in tune! I've used the same BOSS TU12 for the last 20 years and despite the plastic case being more Gaffa tape than case, it is one of the best and long serving, trouble free, bits of kit I have ever had!
 9.
Try a neck through warwick, the necks are far batter, more so on the earlier basses. Someone said in a previous post, that they all felt the same including Stage 1 etc, not correct IMHO I've owned many warwicks, probably not as many as WH, but a good few and they do vary Some bargain Stage 1's out there, also consider, if you find a bass like that and it is right apart from a slightly thick neck, a "neck shave" by someone like the Bass Gallery isn't a lot of money and by removing a relativley small amount of wood, it can make a huge difference. Warwick are offering custom neck profiles but the upcharge was HUGE last time I looked T
Did someone say my name If I had £1 for each time I've contributed to an on-line discussion about Warwick necks and their dimensions I'd have... eleventy twelve pence! In all seriousness you can find earlier NT Warwicks that have got slim profiles and some of the later BO necks are quite chunky, you'd have to go through them to ascertain what suited best. I can say that WoT has very kindly loaned me one of his wonderful 70's P basses and the width at the nut is identical to my 91 Streamer 40mm. My 87 Streamer Stage I has a 38mm nut width and is very slim in depth, whereas my '88 Stage II is 40mm at the nut and a little bit fuller (not much) but they are all so subtly different on these early instruments you'd again have to try before you buy. In summary; Warwick necks are not fat however they can be phat (what a sad barsteward I am).
 10. Playing at the Fat Ox in Whitley Bay. Fairly local for a few faces on here so if anyone fancies a natter pop along I think I'm taking a variety of basses so I'd value an opinion.
 11. I've been touting a NT Streamer Stage I @ £600 for 6mths to no avail so let's hope that your landlord isn't 'Harry the b*st*d' (old sketch but quite relevant if you're at Uni) Good luck. Bumpity Bump
 12.
That wouldn't surprise me to be honest. I know at one stage I had UPS either deliver or collect every day for 9 days & I once bought a Trace T-Bass & sold it without ever unpacking it. I still think Eubassix can beat me though, he must have brought the neck end of £80,000 worth of gear round to our house over the last few years, the wife used to have migraines at the mere mention of his name. I just can't help myself, often I buy stuff just to try it, if I like I keep & if I don't it's straight back out the door. To be honest, I don't want to get in to a scrap over the morals of eBay trading because everyone has an opinion on it & people will never agree. I figure I'd be better spending my time trying to track down a US Bob Glaub & thinking up an excuse for the wife - I guess I could just blame Eubassix.
Ah... that explains a lot of things!
This listing (330228043923) has been removed or is no longer available. Please make sure you entered the right item number. If the listing was removed by eBay, consider it cancelled. How strange .
I can assure you the listing being removed was not 'strange' by any stretch of the imagination... it was as a result of someone being over-zealous in their pursuit of righteousness!
 13.
I'm not a dealer, just like chopping & changing. I wasn't aware I was getting my knickers in a twist either - it's not like I've been using words like "walk a mile in their shoes" or "pious" or using the emoticon. I simply started this thread to make 2 observations, a seller misrepresenting his item & his rights. Some people claimed I was wrong about the sellers rights, a healthy(ish) debate has ensued & eBay have confirmed my understanding of the rules is correct.
300 basses bought and sold on eBay and you aren't a dealer! Even if you like 'chopping and changing' by my reckoning that has to be... a bass a fortnight. That's some going. You most certainly have proved your point about sellers rights and you have also confirmed that you understand the rules, without a shadow of a doubt you've done that.
 14.
Should give you a clue.
Sorry I didn't realise that you were a dealer... that explains why you were getting your knickers in a twist over that seller!
 15.
Further quote for eBay's email on the subject. Yes it is very much against eBay's Inappropriate Seller Terms - "Other Binding Bids" policy. You're not allowed to list an item for sale outside of eBay environment, once the said item is put up for sale, or offered for sale, on eBay. Now, how eBay would identify an item is advertised elsewhere is beyond me, but (technically speaking) the rules actually do preclude someone advertising an item elsewhere - regardless of whether it's mentioned in the advert. I'm not sure it's piety we are seeing here more that some sellers seem to want to have their cake & eat it, leaving bidders at a disadvantage. I doubt many bidders make a bid with the caveat that they "have the right" to remove the bid if they find a better deal elsewhere. One question I would ask though, out of genuine interest, if someone has an item for sale elsewhere they presumably have in mind a price they will take for the item - so why not stick a BIN on the auction or start it at the price they want? Problem solved. A couple of years ago I bid on a custom shop Strat, no reserve auction, only bid of £950 . In the last minute (when you could still do it that late) the seller ended the auction & cancelled my bid. The reason given was the item had been broken or lost. 20 minutes later I get an email from him saying "you can have the guitar for £1300". I told him to use it as a suppository.
I take it from your various responses that you aren't a regular seller on eBay
 16. Ah -ha! So you realised that if it was cheap, every Tom, Dick and Harry could potentially nip in and buy it before you Good thinking to delete your content! Be sure to let us know what it's like if you do get it
 17.
I've offered him $1.49 and said I'll come and pick it up so I don't have to pay $$$ for shipping from Kiddermister to Cambridge.
Damn you've outbid me @ $1.01 I've seen those pics before many times... do scammers have a website / image library somewhere? Come on let's keep any further bids below $10!
 18.
I sincerely hope I never sprout any b*ll*cks, bass or otherwise I just knew it wasn't a good plan to give you access to those emoticons yesterday I'm back to OT now, I know my place
Indeed be gone
 19. So after adding on taxes and shipping of £55, how would that cost compare if you were to buy a 'similar' spec product in a UK store (I assume the matching headstock is specific to the home Japan market)? I assume this is effectively the same bass? 20.
Aww - is that you handing me the perfect opportunity to use my current favourite emotiwhatsit? This will come as a dreadful shock to you, but hand on heart I was stone-cold sober last night. I am keeping some ridiculous hours in order to communicate with he who is currently 8 hours behind me time-wise I think it is dreadfully naughty of you to suggest that I would have a wee drinky and then get up to no good on here, you may live to regret your train of thought Anyway, back to feedback, as I said before 'shifty' is the word we are looking at here
Aren't men at least 8 hours behind women... even when they are in the same room Now be a good girl and bog off back to 'Off Topic' where you belong . You'll get above yourself posting in other sections and before you know where you are you'll be sprouting complete bass b*ll*cks like the rest of us
 21.
Thanks Guys....... I've bought an Aguilar DB410 (4ohm) Great Box !! Talk about Grunt and Heft, can't wait to use it live Mark
The only bloke I know who can have bought and gotten a cab home before the shop even has the stock on the floor I was in GG tuther day and they were still discussing where to put the Aggie stock! Go on you may as well get back in there and get the 2x10 to save them the trouble of shufftying the gear about and putting it on display
 22.
I think he looks shifty and acts even shiftier To be avoided at all costs.
Judging by the time of your posting and your preposition for alcoholic beverages I'd surmise that you is feeling a bit rough this morning you sauced up lush that you are You're just lucky that I don't have my trusty steed with me otherwise I would have galloped down there and defended my besmirched honour... now I bet you don't have some witty emotiwotsit come back for that do you?
 23. It's far to easy to be pious about people doing stuff like this until you are the person selling an item and you want to get the maximium coverage and offers! FWIW I'd guess it's someone off here grassing that seller up
 24. Seriously good gear and weight is... less than most amp heads! This should fly out.
 25.
the 1000th view bump, how can this happend that 1000 people came on this topic and none wants to by my amp ?
No offence intended with my reply but people will be checking out the Glock name, some will be seeing what £1200 buys them. Unfortunately 300watts and a 1x15 no matter how well respected, is unlikely to illicit a whole heap of offers. I've already expressed an interest in your amp but at that kind of money I could equally purchase ANY of the top manufacturers and (again) unfortunately the name on the front of an amp can mean more than the sound filtering in through the ears Aguilar, Epifani, etc (most of the boutique USA names) will always sell for top money whilst Glock, H&K, Tecamp (the European names) will always struggle to justify the price tag... right or wrong it is just a fact. As the previous owner of a Tech Soundsystems 'Black Cat' amp, I know how you feel. However, if I struggled to sell a state of the art, 1000 watt digital/valve hybrid (which retails at £1600) for £600, I think you may be overestimating the value of your amp in the eyes of others
