Started at 9pm after a few drinks and a nice 3 course sit down meal (all in!!!!). Guests up and dancing from second song, always girls!!! Nice. Sound good, but decided I need a bigger cab, on stage volume was a little thin with my 2 x 10 (DI'd into PA). GAS for a 4x10 now!!!!! Nice night, punters enjoyed it and we are booked for next year already. £100 each plus dinner. Cant be bad for an evenings work.......and loads of totty to bog at.
OK so when did Bill Murray take up bass
 2.
I have a Laney DP150 combo that started distorting somewhat - rather scrapey sort of noise. Over headphones, it sounded fine. I was worried about a failing speaker driver but somehow (can't remember how) worked out it was the amp. Replaced the power supply capacitors (summat like 22000 uF) and that solved the problem.
What sort of cost for that job (I realise it may not be that or that the cost may well vary due to manufacturer/power etc.)?

 5.
Not as far as I'm aware, and I've never seen it as an option in any of the catalogues. The first fender with a factory ebony neck was the walnut Elite II:
You know what... if that wasn't such a ? ... ! ... walnutty (polite answer) colour I'd quite like that. Did they do that config in a normal alder/ash with various colours or was it 'Elite' to the 'walnut' finish... and don't extract the urine you know what I mean I seem to recall you quite liked that bass MB can you expand on it's attributes/tone?
 6. How Kev... Please tell me that 12 string is the single cut TP model
 7. Hi Tom, welcome! I wouldn't worry about diving straight in with a sale, it's positively the in thing to do As a noobie there's probably loads of stuff people would like to know about you, why not pop over to the 'Introductions' section of the forum and... introduce yourself. It'll probably stop your sale thread getting bogged down with introductions type stuff. Good luck with your sale and I've sent you a PM re. your amp and price.
 8.
Would,nt mind getting it refinished any advice.mind you with my eyesight it could be minted
Refinishing an oil finish could be a tricky one! I've never done one and I don't know how deep into the grain the stain goes. Ask over on the warwick.de forum.
 9.
Finally found lx4 serial no it was where everyone said just very, very faint or maybe i need glasses .when we moved house the heaviest thing was my collection of bass mags.THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP EVERYONE.Oh by the way the lx4 is a 1997
Just blame it on bad lighting! So it's an early one and will have a wenge neck and fingerboard, congratulations.

 12. Just come off the phone from speaking to the owner. He's lived with these issues for a while but has conceded it may need a service so we're looking at £250 - £275 (the latter figure is his but the former is my interpretation ) I'd still like to know if capacitors failing gives these symptoms. Hopefully I've got a Sparkie coming around any way so I may get him to test them. I'm a bit green when it comes to the guts of amps, so what do capacitors look like (don't worry my fingers won't go internal)? I'd assume that a common or garden Sparkie will know what amplifier capacitors look like!
 13.
Nice amp, I like those 800RBs! Could be caps. Cost of replacing them depends exactly on what they are. Only way to be certain is open the thing up, make sure the caps are safely discharged and get a multimeter on them. If you don't mind me asking, what trade-in value is riding on the amp?
As it stands, if the amp were working with no issues he wants £330. I have no use for the amp so I'd need to ensure that whatever I knock off for it I need to get back by selling it on here or in the local paper. I'm not about to ruin a reputation by selling something that is duff so I'm not diving in feet first. I need to do a search really as I'm sure someone on here was asking about 800rbs in an unrelated thread a while back. We'll see.
 14.
If your mobile phone's close by that can cause some interference coming through. Also, FWIW, depending on the weather I sometimes hear very faint American amateur radio.
I don't think the phone was anywhere near and I've had the phone in my pocket in the past and it doesn't normally cause any issues. The weather... well who knows, one minute hailstones the next bright blue sky
 15. I take it the trade is for another amp & cab rather than trade for another bass?
 16.
PM sent to ya !

Thank goodness for Adee, I was looking at what I could sell....

sure my bank manager will second that ! i agree get it bought you will not be disapointed this has to be the bargain of the decade
Another amp another bass another amp another bass another amp another bass another amp another bass Whew another amp it is then
 17. Wow my French isn't that good but not the best feedback I've ever seen You must have had some pretty unlucky experiences If that price comes down a couple more notches and you were still in the UK I'd be having a punt as I've always fancied trying a Glock!
 18. I need to make a decision as to whether to take a GK 800rb in as part-ex but it has some issues. Namely; it pops on power up and down and it has a degree of distortion, especially as the note dies away. I'm a bit critical of noise but the guy at my local rehearsal rooms that I've just called into (another thread) reckoned he's gigged worse amps! My question is... has anyone any experience of similar issues? Obviously I can take it to a tech but it's going to cost me money to even have it looked at and if it's an expensive fix I'll not even bother. However, if as it has been suggested by the guy at the rehearsal rooms it is capacitors failing and it's an easy inexpensive fix (would it be?) I'll strike a deal. A GK800rb anyone?
 19.
You've eliminated the bass and head and I doubt it's airborne interference inducing signal into your cab directly. To be audible it would probably cook you! Where I live we used to frequently have everyone put on a temporary diesel generator patched in to the sub-station down the road with corresponding mains glitches . Don't know if you've got one of those in use at present that's kicking out a lot of mains-borne or air borne interference than normal mains? It's not another household appliance gone a bit awry is it? I wouldn't have thought a good amp itself would let noise through its power supply - it's more likely to be something airborne getting into a high gain amp - either the preamp or your bass itself. Where we practice we're about 2 miles from a BBC radio transmitter and at times that seems to be able to induce a signal into just about anything including guitar amps without a guitar plugged in! The only other thought is a radio transmitter of some sort nearby that's just turned up. Sorry - bit vague but I'm sure someone here will have a more specific answer. Mike
No Mike don't apologise, anything helps! As it happens I've taken my amp(s) up to the local rehearsal room and they were fine there (though the capacitor(s) on the GK may be on the way out as it appears to be a bit distorted and there is a bit of a pop on powere up/down, but that's a different thread ) Analysing what you've just said I do know that a couple of hundred yards down the road they are doing some road works, removing the existing white lines and replacing them and they have a Gennie in operation for the traffic lights, so your suggestion holds water. I suppose I've no way of confirming this until they are gone but I'm still perplexed as to why our electricity has tripped a couple of times through the night!
 20.
Just-a-nut one has differing width string grooves. I asked when I wanted to tune my 4-string BEAD, and Warwick DE sent me a larger A-string screw.
The bridge saddles and the nut grub-screws come in 2 different sizes; 1 for the E & A strings and 1 for the D & G strings.
 21.
That review brings back some memories of the good ole' days of Bassist Magazine... In fact, I think that I might own that exact review model... the reason being that I think Gibson Keddie did that review and frequently appeared in a photo on the contents page of the magazine with a burgundy red LX, the same as the review model. Implying that it was either his own bass, or maybe a freebie from Warwick. I bought my LX (identical to those specs, with a '97 serial number) from the Gallery back in 2001 and Martin said it belonged to Gibson Keddie who was getting rid of some of his old basses. Kind of a famous bass...
I think you're probably correct. The Gallery must have been a clearing ground for either G Keddie, Warwick or Bassist magazine! As back in the early 90's The Gallery sold me the Warwick Streamer Corvette (F hole bass) that the mag had reviewed.
 22. I've just been offered a GK800rb as part of a deal for my bass. Plugged it into my cab connected bass, cab etc powered up (to quite a large pop) and I'm getting a hiss and what a sound like a drummer playing fast para-diddles! Argh... I power down. I step back think then go and get a different bass and lead (inc IEC mains lead). Same thing (except no loud pop as I left the speaker cable out until it was powered up, then I inserted it). I tried the speaker lead in the other outputs, inc' the 8 ohm 100 watt output... the same. Argh... I power down. I step back think then go and get a different amp (my Thunderfunk). Same thing (except no loud pop as my TF doesn't do those things). The same thing but not quite as noticeable! Now this has never been like this before. I can't see how the cab could be inducing this noise but I'd like any input if that is plausible! As both amps are doing it I'm assuming that it's consumer electricity supply related... I don't have my car at the moment otherwise I'd throw it all in the car and nash around to my local rehearsal rooms, so any thoughts? Just a thought but... our leccie supply on the ring main has tripped a couple of times through the night, this may give some clue but I don't know! Obviously I'm going to contact a mate who is a sparkie but in the meantime has anyone come across this before?
 23.
Oy Hunt !! It's Littler !!! Urgent Calls and that
Outside metal staircase... glad it's not winter, with snow a n d i...c..e Oh yeh maybe it will be Ashington Central was the last one of those I did. Tell you how long ago it was IIRC I had a stack consisting of the early (red stripe) TE cabs, 1x15 & 4x10 in flight cases! Luckily the natives were friendly and we had the gear out in double quick time. This year I will be mostly making more of an effort to see other bands!
 24.
People who want stricter controls or rules are placing too much responsibility on the mods.
Don't get me wrong I'm not saying the mods should chase every newbie up demanding that they post an introduction but it can't be too difficult (says he with no idea about the machinations of the substructures of web forums) to set it up so that when you join you fill in a basic profile so that we get a rough idea of who and what people are about! I don't want the mods to have to do anything more than they do, I appreciate the time that they spend on the running of the site as it is but surely setting something up 'might' actually save them time and grief in the future?
 25.
I think the best idea would be a follow-up post to unintroduced sellers asking them to post in introductions.
A sound idea. Maybe I am looking at this from an isolated point, as in; I have a mature approach to introducing myself when I meet people and it's possibly a dying 'art' I also have a natural tendency to want to ensure that I fit within any given congress which again not everyone does. So I willingly concede that maybe I am more concerned than some about how we conduct ourselves but I don't believe that makes me wrong, even if I'm in the minority. I know my job kind of predisposes of me in this respect but doesn't anyone else feel the desire to educate even in a small way when a situation such as this arises?
