1. I noted that the buyer has been asked plenty questions but not one seems to be about the crack I decided to email and ask about it and to be fair to the seller, he has responded 'directly to me' but funnily enough hasn't listed my question and his response on the listing. If anyone is concerned about the crack then here is his response below and he has said there are pics available. Hi, Thanks for the message. It is a difficult one to judge without actually breaking away the finish. The finish is very thick. I have gently probed it with a pin, and it doesn't feel as if it goes in any further that the finish, but the general cracking of the finish is likely due to wood shrinkage, so if there is a crack in the wood it may not be as open as it is in the finish. With the neck and scratchplate removed, the crack in the finish runs around the neck joint and almost down to the pickup recess. If you send me an email address I can send you some pictures. Sorry for the waffly answer, but I cant really give a definite yes or no.
 2.
Why would people get upset if someone posts an ebay link? Returning to the amp, this is just vague curiosity, but I note the following. Does it actually achieve this aim?
Point 1 - Imagine you've spotted something tasty on ebay, ideally something that has been listed in an incorrect category or with a misspelling in the title that won't show up in a search (ie instead of Fender - Gender etc), you are watching it with the intention of sniping a bid at the last minute and picking up a bargain. Lo-and-behold someone on this forum comes on shouting about this 'potential bargain'... you aren't going to particularly impressed now that the bass playing community know about it and no doubt a few people will take a punt on it, thereby bumping the price. Flagging a normal auction 'bargain' that you've spotted is NOT particularly conducive to getting a bargain Point 2 - They are meant to be quite uncoloured (odd that they are described as 'warm' then ) and they are certainly small, light and portable. WoT used the big brother of one of these with various preamp pedals and it sounded pretty good to me.
 3.
Acoustic Image Clarus 1R on the Bay for £200 looks pretty good value to me. Not mine I don't normally post eBay links as some get upset if they are already watching it - however as this has a BIN of £200, I think anyone interested would have grabbed it already (starting bid is £175) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Acoustic-Image-Claru...id=p3286.c0.m14
I totally agree. I only flag up BIN unless it's something silly that needs looking at or if I have relevant info that might save a fellow BCer buying unwisely.
 4.
Gone over the BIN price good luck to him
It went way over my bid
 5. Well done Ben, looked the biz before but now you've put some time into it, it looks even better
 6. I'll keep my eyes open for your NS coming up for sale
 7. You really have no idea how close you were to not getting that bass If it hadn't been for the fact that I was pretty busy last Sunday and my time was really limited, I had already arranged to meet to buy the bass in Edinburgh. Unfortunately I may have overstepped the mark with the seller as I asked if he'd mind meeting me on the SE side of Edinburgh and I'd bung him a fiver 'or' if he fancied meeting closer to me I'd cover his fuel. I think he took it the wrong way and rather than realising I was simply pushed for time he thought I was asking for a personal delivery service and he decided he didn't have time to even meet me in Edinburgh... Ah well It actually looks far better in your pics than it did in the ones that he took for me. Had he shown it in it's full glory as you have, I may well have tried that bit harder to find time to collect from him. Enjoy it sounds like a cracker
 8.
Here's my review, please bear in mind I only play reggae, I am very fussy about tone and this is only my opinion - It's very loud, basically 2 x 500 watt amps that can be bridged to 750 watts @ 8 ohms or 1100 @ 4 ohms. That's a lot of power and if you don't need it, the LH 500 will still have plenty of oomph with 350 watts @ 8 ohms. Build quality seems good, everything works as expected, it is very heavy compared to a lot of new amps. The sound is very rich and full bodied with a valvey growl, but clear and modern with no distortion. It is surprisingly hi fi sounding to my ears with plenty of tone from deep bass to high treble if required. There is no need to touch the eq for a sound which I imagine would suit many players with varied styles. I have only used it at home, but get the feeling it would really cut through on stage with a strong presence - the sort of amp you could fall in love with. Having said all that, I have returned it to the shop, who kindly let me have it on 7 day approval. While I'm sure it would suit many players, it didn't have 'my' sound which is super smooth, deep, warm and soft just like me. I really wanted to love the LH1000 and in a way I do, it's just got too much tone for me - ah well........
Just to help inform the masses... what bass and cabs did you use it with?
 9.
Now that my back has gone (again) I have decided it's time to get a lighter rig. Can anyone tell me how a 2x10 compares to a 1x15 tone wise etc? I am looking to get something around 200w and 20kg or less.
TBH there are plenty of 2x10s out there that will give you as much bottom end as many 1x15s. I've never understood the fixation (for want of a better word) with using 15s to get 'more' bottom end. Unless you are talking specially designed 15s (a la Mr Clabber) or folded horns, 10s can go as low as 15s (in the real world, not manufacturers statements) and transient response is 'generally' better. I'd go for a good 2x10 over a 15 any day... saying that I'm using 1x12s as a compromise to 2x10s flick back through the thread there are plenty discussed.
I was wondering what would best replace the current setup: Custom JB going into Pod X3 Live (no amp modeling used) going into Trace Elliot GP7 150 with an Ashdown Mag410T Im happy with the trace but the Ashdown is a backbreaker. I need something lighter, and not necessarily 4x10". I would ideally like something about the same size but lighter or just a bit smaller but maintaining balls. I'm playing Queens of the Stoneage like music.
There are LOADS of alternatives and you'll get the full range of advice from the Tech 4x10 through Epifani 3x10 via EBS 2x12 and no doubt Markbass, Zoot, Aguilar, Warwick, Genz Benz and a shedload of others will be mentioned No disrespect but I think pretty much anything mentioned in this thread so far would trump your Ashdown Mag for weight and tone BUT your 'tone' is very specific to you and what I consider good tone could be very different to anyone else! <edit for link> In the sale section... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=28012 http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=27959 These would more than suit either of your needs!
 10.
I thought I'd struggle to sell my 18-year old Thumb bass considering the current climate but I did - and for £1000 (via The Gallery) which after their 15% comission was actually what I was hoping for £850... good quality instruments are a good investment me thinks. M
I've got a similarly aged Thumb and I'd be seriously tempted to sell through a shop if I could achieve that price but 360 miles makes a big difference
 11.
Aha, one of the 19 explained! If you catch your mate, I will throw in the silver OHSC from my 4003MG/BT (newly de-tobacco'ed and in great nick) on top, all for the princely sum of £899 (case wan't included on the eBay auction and is worth >£100) Cheers mate. PS, do you do stints as a Dave Grohl impersonator (based on Avatar)?
I'm still trying to contact him and if your Ric floats his boat then we'll see what we can do. re. the avatar pic - one more comment on BC and I will be considering contacting a 'lookeelikee' agency for work... of course I've now shaved so that'd have to grow back
 12.
Why on earth would you do that? It just means you have to pay ebay 10% or whatever the percentage demanded as final value fee of what you didn't actually make on the bass.
No you don't... ebay trick #42. You agree not to complete the sale and eBay just take your listing fee. You can of course relist it but using the same friend(s) to do this regularly gets one/both/all of you banned!
 13.
Maybe, 120310071485 Might be ply, but got those bridges on a coupla my basses, and they are cool. Good starter.
Even better bargain if you get it for £25 and live local
 14.
I have just been stung by this - my gorgeous Fireglo Rick 4001 has just gone unsold on eBay despite me setting price at £899, £100-plus below where they have been selling for and roughly two-thirds the price of a new one despite it being 'vintage'. Problem is I had already pre-emptively spent a large chunk of the planned 'proceeds' on another Forumite's Jazz bass - oops, just hope Mrs Clarky doesn't notice PS. What were the 20 "watchers" doing then? Suppose they were other Rick owners trying to see what they could get for theirs????
Well I don't know about the other 19 but I was watching as I know someone looking for a vintage Ric who has a bass that I want... problem is I hadn't been able to contact him before your auction ended (and still haven't)!
 15.
Yeah I appreciate that, and the probable relationship between reviews and advertising .... Sean doesn't actually hold much stock but I am sure he could have got a cab from Jorg if he'd been asked .. I still don't get why they reviewed a BagEnd though ..
The more the merrier! Just supposition, but if they'd reviewed a limited number of cabs it'd have made the shoot-out a bit worthless so 'maybe' they dragged a couple of cabs in off the street! Sits back and waits to be informed of the 'real reason'
 16. Are you sure it's your bass? What's your age/vocation/profession and have you changed car/office/sofa/girlfriend lately? What bass do you play and what sort of height is your strap at? If you are indeed 'skinny' (as your username implies... unless being ironic, in which case ignore/reverse the 2nd part of following advice) try going to the gym or eating a few pies/Greggs stotties
 17.
Bummer, wish it was 4ohm...can you fit some kind of inline resistor that makes them 4ohm? - Please forgive i know very little about speaker electronics!
Why do you need it to be 4 ohm? If you want it as a cab for smaller gigs/rehearsals and you were going to use it with your Eden WT800, there'd be plenty enough kicked out of that Alternatively get this 8 ohm one and add another 8 ohm at a later date
 18. Have a bump on me for great cabs especially with the tweeter. The DB112 also got a very good review when BGM did a shoot-out between 1x12 cabs.
 19. Very 'trick' image, better than a photo IMHO. Best of luck.
 20. That's a nice price and I'd love to try one of those but I'm (very) shallow and that colour isn't me Have a bump nonetheless!
 21.
So it would seem Nice Avatar John.
Ahhh shucks, cheers Peter... I'll pass on the compliments to Mrs WH Just goes to show you can turn a pig's ear
 22. It has to be bought just for the green and UV if nothing else Surely a fellow BCer using a POD or some stereo modelling kit would find this the biz... if it stays cheap enough!
 23.
What happened to this? I never saw it complete on ebay.
I'm sure it went for a bit more than was offered on here What's up... not enough Modulus Flea basses up for sale at the moment
 24. Come on then purely for a laugh. A new BassChat eBay game... The Price is sh*te What do you reckon it'll go for? I realise anyone after a 'genuine' 60's Tele will know their stuff and steer well clear and that a couple of suckers could end up bidding this up to silly money but I'll be the first to stick my neck out.... Bearing in mind I'm no Fender fanatic and based on the fact that the skeleton of the bass could potentially be a no name Far Eastern copy balanced against that there 'may' be an original pup and early tuners on the bass I'll say that it'll be within £50 of £500
