1. I seem to recall reading something on TB about Phantom Power frying the DI on 'some' amps. I certainly had no problem up till I read that and wouldn't have even been aware of it if I'd not read that but were I to change my amp (I know this one works OK ) I'd consider buying a small DI box. Take the DI from the amp into the DI box and from there to the desk, that way if there is a problem your amp doesn't suffer. Alternatively as has been suggested use an unbalanced line out or effects send from your amp to the desk.
 2.
it was the GS, a 2x10 + 2x12....too heavy & bulky for my needs really though!.....but a nice sound & I could be loud enough for me too hear it well, without my drummer complaining! (there's gotta be something in this rear or front facing ports thing....) ....is it true the DB's have rear ports? I am hoping that the smaller GS speakers... like the 1x12's, impress me the same way..... it's got to be quite portable for me... up to say similar in bulkiness of 2 x SWR goliath Jr 2x10's weighing in at 55lbs each( ..which I'd like to try if I can find somewhere with 2 in stock!) .... but preferably lighter.... I've got 14 stairs up to my front door!...& it's a narrow passageway.... (ooh er misses!)
The DB112's certainly have rear ports. I take it you've considered and dismissed the Tech Soundsystems 1x12's on this forum... certainly can't get any more portable than those!
 3. I was going to keep this 87 Thumb purely because it's a golden oldie from Warwick but there's not much point having it if I'm never going to gig it (and I won't). The bass is generally in great condition for 21 years old. It has been a 'players' bass and as such there is wear around the top of the pickups (proper early EMGs) and parallel with the E string but this would be considered mojo on a Fender and is barely noticeable from a distance. No issues with the bass and I'm about to strip, clean, wax and set it up with a fresh set of Warwick EMP strings. Other than looking fantastic it has the lovely early Warwick slim neck, which you can get a bit more info on by visiting the Warwick forum or have a look through the thread on this forum re. Warwicks. Being the early JD model (truss rod plate is logo'd) it has the sculpted headstock rear and the tuning spacers (which are intact). With regard to what I want. I'm 'mainly' interested in a nice NT Spector or 'early' Warwick Streamer Stage I (no later than 89 and the earlier the better), though I could be swayed for something like a Zon or similar unusual and light bass. If the Spector is a USA I'll balance it out with cash or if it's a Euro LX etc then cash the other way. A deal with an unusual/rare Streamer 'could' involve me looking at putting cash to it but only for one or two specific Warwick Ltd Ed basses that I have in mind. PM me what you have.
 4.
The curious thing is that most cabs should sound fatter/fuller the more watts that get pushed through them because when you turn things up the frequency response of the human ear gets better in the lows so it sounds like you're not just turning up the volume but also boosting the lows. The reason many cabs don't act like this is because their low frequency power handling is so poxy that they start compressing/distorting in the bottom before you've got them up to a loud volume so the frequency response tilts more towards the mids and highs as you increase the volume. The reason this cab doesn't act like this is because it is big and has six nice 10" woofers sharing the load so by the time it starts compressing/distorting in the bottom it's so damn loud that your ears are giving up! Alex
Ah... I knew there'd be a reason
 5.
My first real high end bass, a Spector Euro: It was much more nicer in the flesh, I'd love to have another go with it now, I'm even half tempted to see if the current owner is tiring of it.
Hey Josh if the new owner is tired of it and you don't fancy it back... give me a shout
 6. All good stuff but in the wrong section maybe?
 7.
I've sent lots with parcelforce , no hassles at all. If its worth a lot I would use a hard case as well as wrapping. The shipping will cost £40.00 - £50.00 so an old beat up case is always a good insurance policy for say £25.00 If the neck is bolt on taking it off is always the best practice.
Am I missing something with ParcelForce's online quotes then? I take it Europe is significantly less expensive than Canada, which is coming back as £280 without any insurance!
 8. Was it the Aggie GS or DB cabs that you tried?
 9.
Something fishy about his blurb about payments. What's this ebay policy about ebay not releasing the funds to me until you have received them and left me positive feedback? - Surely that can't be right??
Fraid so! That is the latest eBay/PayPal sh*te.
 10.
I can practice silently with my bass unplugged or using the tascam headphone/mp3 thing I can't see what the problem is that these basses are supposed to solve. Any ideas?
I know that the Aria one benefits in as much as you can take the body frame apart for easy storage/transport. I must say I am slightly confused by his payment terms (in bold at the end of the listing)... is the bass £150 or £160?
 11. BUT... you/we still keep hitting on his auctions! Walk away and leave him/her well alone otherwise the seller wins every time
 12. re. the Streamer - Just so that you can update the information, the fingerboard (scale) is Wenge rather than Rosewood
 13. OK so where's that fatted calf 'kin hiding Nice to have you back Chris. You do realise though that no-one dare leave and come back now in case they get a lesser welcoming return than thou!
 14. I use the DB112's and I 'think' they fit your tone criteria BUT be aware that they aren't featherweights. They aren't massively heavy but won't compete, weight wise, with the likes of the Tech 1x12s available on the sale forum.
 15.
Oh, I'm always lagging behind everyone else aren't I? Could someone at least give me chance to look at these rude posts before they are deleted? Sorry chaps. Sounds like a major flippin' headache, as if you lot running this place don't have enough to do already
Don't worry Mrs T, they aren't those 'home videos' Mr Tinman made a while back
 16.
OK Phatmonkey has updated the forum software, so we shouldn't be getting any more bogus account sign ups. However there may still be validated accounts that we're not aware of yet. Many thanks to the people who have already PM'd Ped and I with spam posts.
No, I think you'll find we need to thank you guys.
 17.
Which was the "musical" bit - I think I missed it.
I think that was the bit where you heard the rhythmical 'clacking' of valves and (thankfully) f*ck all else
 18.
I've never understood the 'sound of wood' motto when used to sell primarily active, and zingy, honky sounding instruments. I'm not a fan of warwicks (in my hands) apart from the SS1 5 string, but the guy who used to play in bossk got a wicked tone from his detuned thumb.
Some of those early Streamer Stage Is (predominantly wenge necks, cherry bodies and 1 piece bridges) absolutely epitomise that "Sound of wood" motto! I've owned a couple of those early instruments (IIRC Alex C has an early cherry bodied example, which I reckon he'd not describe as zingy or honky) and I can honestly say that a 'woodier' tone you are unlikely to hear than from one of those early instruments... active electrics or not!
 19. Does anyone know if this spamming of BassChat could explain why access by me, of the forum, is suddenly blocked at my work (my personal account not a public/pupil accessible account I hasten to add), as I've been able to access BC prior to a couple of days ago!
 20. Very... ahem! Avant-garde

I can't see any attack on your description or item, sensitivity seems to be high

pms
Ah, obviously as onlookers we aren't aware of what is said in PMs

 23.
Im amazed how much abuse I get from advertising something which is not "picture perfect" is this not a general FS sale forum, does everything have to be mint condition?
'Time Out' Andy... have I missed something or misreading reactions? 24.
Is that covering you for professional use of kit? That is, actually taking money for the gig? If not then if something goes wrong and they find out you are taking £ for the gig they will not pay you. TBH until you asked I assumed so. I'll have to look into that. Is that whichever bass you happen to have out of the house at the time or one specific bass? I'm covered to take one bass (any one) out of the house but I gave the cost of replacing the most expensive. I'm not asking aggressively here, I have not been insured for a long time and I really need to get it set up again. When I was insured I got pay outs for a stolen keyboard and a dropped double bass (don't ask) with no problems.
25.
I love Warwicks, I have a lovely 2002 LTD Corvette Jazzman. French walnut body, swirly bubinga top and real abalone inlays. Yum.
I was just thinking "Oh that sounds tasty", when I remembered... I sold you it! Note to self - must stop selling basses that I like.
