It's a minor thing I suppose but really a big Co. like Line 6 should check their facts... I have a Variax 700 bass which has been sidelined for so long that I'd forgotten what all of the sounds are modelled on so I decided to check their on-line manual. As I browsed through I came to the 'Modern' setting, one of which is the Warwick Thumb; dear me... why then have a picture of a Warwick Corvette? As I say not the end of the world and I'm not losing sleep over it but someone, somewhere wants their backside kicking. Anybody else ever found a manufacturers c*ck up?
This is quite a cracking amp, however after parting with my Gallien Kruger im actually starting to regret it slightly as this head give a much more 'mellow' tone rather than the ridiculously punchy punk type of tone I was so used too. The valve preamp very nice and when pushed you can get a nice warm overdriven sound! mmmm Iv just had it fully serviced from Rock bottom in Croydon, and so its in optimum working condition. Condition wise it's in very good condition except for a few scuffs due to being kept in a rack case and is also very slightly worn on the rack ears from being in a rack case for such a long time. Other than that it looks superb. So far Im open to offers and Iv really only posted to see if this will generate any interest. Il get pics up at the weekend as im a good 80 miles away at the moment For all the specs take a look at this site ---> Hughes & Kettner basebass 600 Thanks for looking and hope to hear from you Mike
Hey Mike, I owned one of these and they are a cracking amp but not as raw as the GK as you say. Just a pointer but you'll be better off putting this in the 'SALE' section rather than 'WANTED'. A Mod will move it for you if you PM them. -
The guy is from my neck of the woods but I can't say I know him but then again I wouldn't if he lives up in cloud cuckoo land. Oddly enough I remember when these were first out a place up here (Grotts Guitars... anyone local remember) got a batch of these exact basses as 'Seconds' (various bits missing, dodgy finishes etc) from the distributor; it may have been JohnHornbySkewes and IIRC it was something to do with a warehouse fire (or they fell off the back of a wagon ). I'm not saying that this is one of those basses and even if it was it could well have been sorted for very little money. Still... a grand!

'ere we go, new post from the newbie

Before the can of woms is opened yet again! Have a read of these... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=42350 http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...=mixing+drivers http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...=mixing+drivers ... actually if you use the search function you'd be amazed how much info has already been covered on the subject of either replacing drivers with non-specific drivers or with mixing the size of the drivers used in a rig. Happy hunting. -
P.S. I can do Paypal too but buyer will have to pay fees - sorry.
You can send funds to someone via Paypal as a gift (or something like that), it is an option that the sender has and there are no fees incurred by either party... a public service announcement from WH! -
15.6Kg. Even I can carry it one-handed. As well as the case, UL902 and tuner, that figure includes a 1U 13A power strip along the back and the speaker cables inside
Under 16kg... Not bad at all! With a healthy output into those cabs I can't see that lacking in any department. I realise you've not had the rig long but would you gig one cab for small venues or will it always be the pair?
After a fair amount of selling and saving I've finally cracked it. Lightweight and wicked.
That does look tidy and as you say a reasonable weight, very nice. Just out of interest what is the combined weight of the 902, tuner and case?
Three of those necks are totally redundant anyway. It's got to be just a shop window marketing exercise. Load of old knob. Now this is more like it...
IIRC wasn't that bass owned by Roger Newell who used to edit/write for 'Bassist' magazine and who was in Rick Wakeman's touring group?
can you believe it.......... something with more neck that John you'd certainly have concerns about the weight of that fellow......
I aspire to have more neck than that! If I only had to play an instrument for one song and then a roadie would stagger away with it, I'd manage somehow.
-
I agree 6 necked guitars are absolutely STUPID... 5 necks, now that's a different matter!
-
Bass gigs are relatively easy to come by but if you never want to be out of work learn piano/keys!
When i was starting out i got my first bass in 83, a squire p bass from rhodes in denmark street, anyway, always regreted selling it, and this one came up, 2 years newer but cool! I love the older fenders, and they always hold value. I have to say for sound, the warwick i now have is stunning, and the new neck profile is ace, but i do love the older fenders. Most of the stuff i play (chic etc) it suits perfect. Looking forward to getting it.
This poor P bass looks like it has been swiftly sidelined by a nice CS Jazz!
My RS4 59Burst is light as a feather.....
I'm really kicking myself for not trying your bass on Sunday. Another time maybe!
Warwickhunt is looking after yer old red streamer,,,, like he had given birth to it himself
The odd thing is that Lee's old red Streamer was originally 'my' old red Streamer, which had previous to me, been Dave Wilson's back in 1990 when it was eau natural! A scarily small world. Never mind giving birth to it I was keeping one eye on our Ampeg wielding friend Craig, who had taken a bit of a shine to it (not in this pic though)...

Absolute pleasure to deal with Steve. Concluded the deal quickly and the bass was even dispatched the day payment was made. Even though the bass took a little knock in transit, Steve and I came to a very swift and amicable agreement. Many thanks Steve.
Thanks again to WoT and Warwickhunt for the organisation etc. and thanks to Dave Wilson for the kind donation to the running of the event.
I'll 2nd that; a big thank you to Michael for organising the venue and advertising/plugging, with a special tip of the hat to the ever generous Dave Wilson for the 'sponsorship' BUT it wouldn't be a bash without those who took the time and effort to attend... Jesus H Christ this is a minefield I feel like I'm now dissing those who couldn't attend! You all know what I mean!
i wish I could move my fingers as fast as my head so that they too would become a blur,,LOL!
I dunno like Mark between you and your 'ahem' Northern friend Thom, you had a fair old rate of thumbing going on... Ooooh that sounds a bit rude!
some nice gear there, but the notts one was better! (haha, i joke). What's that little amp though next to the bongo? Looks like an eden or something...
Phil Jones Bass, not sure of the model... is it the 'briefcase'? I'm sure the owner Ba55me15ter will elaborate.

Well done Michael, a cracking day! Mind I think GAS has been prematurely induced in a few people. Unfortunately, my mate Craig (non-BassChatter, 3rd pic down on post #121) has been swayed to the dark side and despite my best efforts has decided that his first bass will be... a Fender! No accounting for taste!

Oh my rant extends... The dip sh*t claims to be an 'official dealer' (I assume of Warwick basses), in which case why did he buy this bass (check his feedback) in Nov 08 from an eBay seller (rbmusicstore)? If you check out the original sale of this bass you'll see that 'Peter' even asks the original seller if they will get a receipt! Not sure that it is strictly legal to retail something on eBay as NEW when it is patently used, even if it has never been gigged. Well at least the original seller of the bass knew that it was Maple. Original sale... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=160299907086

It's a little niggle and hardly the end of the world but it does make me despair when a seller professing to be a dealer/retailer doesn't even know what the body wood construction of their stock is! The seller states the body is Ash... I'm sorry but even the dippiest retailer should know (or at least know how to do a quick Google or visit to the Warwick site) that a SSI has a maple body, I mean ffs just look at it! If you retail instruments (especially when you profess to be an 'official' retailer) then at least learn to distinguish between Maple (especially flamed examples) and Ash. Rant over.
