And this is exactly why BC is such a cool place. Very many thanks my friend.
Not that it matters but the cases have changed/varied over the years, though they are essentially the same internally... cept one of mine's green (the case that is)!
Good to hear that some cash is being ploughed back into the Blyth economy!
It's not that bad of a place... we lost our 'drugs capital' title years ago! As for the band playing; not for a while as I'm rehearsing up with a new 6 piece band. I'll update you when either band is out next.
That's incredible! Who does that? I thought it was all done on weight, and some amps weigh an absolute TON! My Ampeg for example...
'Senditnow' or 'parcel2go' have a service which is actually £6.99/£7.99 for a parcel up to 30kg (so long as you are not talking silly dimensions i.e. a bass in a case is within limits) BUT insurance is only £150-£200 so it would be no good for something like a vintage Ampeg or expensive bass; insurance can be added but NOT on guitars! I used the same services to send a 27kg bass cab down the country and it arrived safe and sound. So a well packaged LH500 wouldn't be a problem; hence his offer of knocking off a fiver for someone collecting, which may be on the cards later this week due to a local ad.

How about powered/active PA cabs? We use a set of RCF cabs for PA and they have got a great power to weight ratio; added to which if it was for use as a personal monitor then they can be kicked back like a wedge!

Not mine but a mate has a very good/mint condition LH500 for sale. I gave it a blast the other day and I was knocked out by the sound, at a fraction of the cost of my Thunderfunk it wasn't a kick in the backside off being as good! Have a trawl through Basschat, Talkbass, Harmony Central etc if you want an idea of what these are like, there's loads of good stuff being said about them. I can ask him to get pics if someone is interested but essentially it has a couple of small marks on the rack mounts but nothing to write home about. The price of £195 includes UK mainland delivery, if you are outside of Mainland UK give me a shout and I'll see what can be done. No trades or anything as he was intending joining a band but he's realised that it's more hassle than it is worth trying to do so... shame.
Aye it's Alnwick! a bairn!!! I wish! My brain awaits picking!
Compared to me an' Al (our brains are already pickled), you are a bairn! So do you give pointers on fly fishing?
Most good music shops will make them up for you, you can choose your cables and plugs also.
Why bother when we have Dave (OOBM)?
Another one!?!? People will start to talk, man! (and it's Alnwick) [edit to show I'm a nosey old bastid]
Have you checked out his age Al... an Alnwick bairn by all accounts. Saying that I am developing an interest in fly fishing so you may be getting your brains picked BB!
So is that Alnmouth or Amble? Oh and welcome to our newest Geordie... bout time we organised a little GTG to put names to faces.
How much would the shipping on this be, to the UK. any idea?
So when you get it do we get to A/B them? Just to say that I've used General Logistics System (GLS) for delivery from Germany and they are 'very' competitive for courier pricing to the UK!
Probably best that it's over then. On second viewing of the photos I spotted too many other issues with the fit and finish, and if they're visible in the photos, hate to think how bad it would look in real life.
I agree, some of the outline 'lines' look decidedly squared off and there appears to be more divots than on a golf course!
Not being funny but I dont see absolute music trying to rip someone off they far too well known.

FWIW I've bought from Absolute in the past and they've been very good. If there is an issue, I'm sure there will be an innocent explanation.
No one has pointed a finger of blame. I raised the issue that the whole 'prototype' thing looked a bit sus but I'm not doubting that it is a PRS bass. I would however say that being a well known music shop/store doesn't mean that they are mistake/blame free and it isn't an excuse for not following the maxim 'caveat emptor'! -

I'm ready to be corrected on this big style but that looks all the world like one of the standard mkII PRS's with fancy inlays... with the exception of 'someone' writing prototype between the tuners with a permanent marker! -
would you mind offering up some insight into the Glock please? I am only really familiar with reports on the onboard. Despite not having the chops to cope with hi-fi sound I do love clean.
I had a Bass Art head (full amp rather than pre) and considering people talk about clarity etc with Glock I found it to be a nice full sound, warm but not mushy/muddy. I would still have it today if it weren't for the fact that iirc it was 300w and at the time that just couldn't cut the mustard live (partially that may have been the cab it was paired with), so it had to go. A higher powered Glock amp is one of the few amps I'd consider trading my Thunderfunk for.

Do the USA basses weigh less than the Skylines? I've owned a brace of Skylines (DJ and a pair of JO) and they were all pretty weighty beasts.

Nothing there that would give me the confidence to bid!
