Unless you are playing with a monstrously loud band I'd go for Option C - 2x10 Peavey cab, plus another 2x10 Peavey Cab @ 8 ohms. I've used the Peavey cabs before and the comparison between the 4x10 (or multiples of) and 2x15 is so massive and different it'd do your head in, though the Peavey cabs are cracking value for money. However, a pair of the 2x10 cabs stacked on their side/end makes a portable 4x10 rig that will see off just about any comparable rig for similar money. The tone that you get is totally dependent upon your bass style and technique so trying to tell you how it will sound is likely as not, worthless but I'd be amazed if you couldn't get a decent versatile sound from a pair of vertical Peavey 2x10's.

I've always fancied a pair of 8ohm Acme 2x10 cabs but the ones I've seen appear used, tended to be 4 ohm. IIRC you need a fair bit of power to get them giving their best.

Why make that comparison... if price is a consideration you could own a full blown German made NT Streamer for the same money as a Euro Spector!

[/quote] If there is 4mm difference in neck width then I certainly didn't notice it; having had both the Jazz and the Precision I'd have sworn that the neck profiles inc' width were exactly the same! Obviously if owners measure the difference and they are 4mm out then I've no problem with being wrong... I'm always wrong in our house when it comes to every other aspect of life. I will add the caveat that tbh I can flip between a pencil necked Zon Sonus or Warwick Streamer and my 'beefier' necked Bolin and I don't have an issue with the difference (though I can feel it).

The profile, feel and even nut width felt exactly the same to me... dead easy to find out if the nut widths differ, as there are plenty of owners on here.

Our band were all set up at a gig when we got a phone call (8.30 when starting at 9.00) to say our vocalist couldn't make it (wife involved in a fatal traffic incident... not hers). No option but for me the guitarist and drummer to quite literally step up to the mic and try it (luckily all 3 of us do some form of backing vocals during the set) We spoke to the management who were just pleased we weren't walking out. It turned out to be a cracking night especially when we announced to the audience what was happening and we had various volunteers from the crowd to do individual songs... one or two may have lied when they said they could sing but it was a laugh! I live for those kind of impromptu moments when things send you off on a curve.

This may seem like an odd ask but if anyone knows of a broken piano I'd love a couple of the black ebony keys off it; needed to make myself a nice long thumb rest for a bass. Obviously plastic keys off a Casio are no good.

Is a Rockbass a good idea to cut ones teeth with?[/quote] The Rockbass range are nice enough basses 'at that price point' but you can't make any direct comparison between one of those and the German made thru-neck basses, so are you cutting your teeth on a lower price Warwick and preparing yourself for the top of the range models? Probably not! However that's just my opinion. If you are in the market to buy a £300 bass then I'd definitely try one next to say a similarly priced Ibanez, Squier, Washburn, Spector etc. but going from that to one of the expensive Warwick basses is a marked difference... and for the sake of stopping any potential flame-war, I'll stress that again: playing a £300 Rockbass will feel a lot 'different' than a top of the range NT bass NOT 'better' or £XXXX superior; just different.

I've played Warwicks for 20 odd years and despite dabbling with a multitude of other basses I always come back to Warwick; in particular the NT Streamers (the earlier the better)... my Corvette/Infinette comes a close 2nd. A couple of recent GAS purchases have reinforced that I'm sticking to my Warwick (i.e. they are up for sale), though I'll still admire other basses.

Generally DR Sunbeams but I'm really liking a set of Pyramid Gold flats that I have on my main bass.
