1.
Mis-spellings like this or mis-classifications provide opportunities for canny buyers. Like this:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vintage-series-04-62...=item4aa45507e7 Sold for £599 - probably because the seller did not include "bass" in the description. £599 is a steal for these basses that cost more in sunburst and are available new here for £1539:- http://www.dv247.com/guitars/fender-americ...sunburst--41159
I sold my 2009 USA P bass (sunburst), upgraded with a BA and Nordy pups (Jazz pup added by The Bass Gallery) for not much more than this; even though that may appear cheap it is basically the going rate for used instruments! As regards the Sado... I'd be inclined to be a tad suspicious of someone that owned a Sadowsky bass and didn't even know how to spell it (especially as has been noted, it is big and bold on the headstock).
2. This might seem a strange question but is the body size/shape the full Fender Jazz size or is it downsized a la Sadowsky and what is the weight. I'm taking some time to realise that it isn't only weight that matters to me it's the size and mass of a bass!
3.
Bump. Someone please buy this!!
I thought this was sold!
4. I can attest to how good these amps are; I had the exact same model and they really are good, the fact that they go down to 2ohms is very useful (x2 EBS Neo 2x12 = 2 ohms). The H&K BB600, Glockenklang Bass Art and my Thunderfunk are probably my top 3 favourite amps (and I've had a few over the years).
5.
The three different paints in 3TSB are slightly different densities. The gradiation from the center of of the body to the edge allows the body to vibrate in a much 'rounder' fashion than a single colour body.
Why of course that explains Fender's justification for using a longer intonation screw on the early basses... it all makes sense now!
6. Wayne will be along any minute now to refute that theory!
7. I'd look for a used example on here or eBay, that way when you are disappointed with the tone you'll not lose as much money in the depreciation!
8.
I have a limit (3), but what I don't get (not just you) is why lots of similar basses? How many stingrays/precisions does one man need? (ok apart from John Entwhistle...) If I had a limit of 6 there would be 6 random different basses there.
I had a silly amount of Streamers at one point and even though there were x2 SSII's they were very different sounding and despite the MANY and varied SSI basses I've had they've generally sounded different... to one degree or another. However I accept what you say, as evidenced by the big sell outs that I've had over the years and I now own very different basses; Bolin, Zon, PRS, Warwick (x4 but 'definitely' different models), which are used in different situations.
9. Fender 60's Mexi Reissue Jazz Burgundy Mist - Again, awesome bass in a bit of a special finish. Squier 1983 'SQ' Japanese Precision Bass with added Jazz Pickup in the bridge. Now that's two basses that tweak my interest BUT as has been pointed out; now is not the greatest time to be selling stuff as prices are seriously depressed!
10. A wanderer returns!
11. Now if you put the J pups in the P body and change the colour, you'd have my perfect individual bass... Ah that's very close to Clarky's bass! Very nice Barrie, wish we lived a whole lot closer so that I could try some of the cracking basses that you have.
12.
well, every days a school day, iv'e never noticed that before.
To keep user id's secret, eBay takes random characters from a username and adds the asterisk spacers to make up 5 digits.
13. I hope there aren't a load of unsuspecting novices sitting waiting to snipe a last minute/second 'bargain'... they are going to be sooooo disappointed when it arrives!
14. If I was starting out again and with a limited budget, I'd go for a used Hartke LH500 head and a pair of used Peavey 2x10 cabs. Stack the two cabs end on end and you'll get a much better spread of sound than a normal 4x10. Though from the budget amp line-up I wouldn't dismiss Peavey, GK (the older 400/800RB) or some of the old TE and Laney range... actually thinking about it, there's a lot more choice available for a lot less money than there used to be and I could probably find a whole raft of stuff that's been up for sale on here or eBay recently.
15. I'm a proper bass player, I'm too busy packing the gear away coz the rest of the lazy bastard band are nattering to; groupies, kit junkies, the promoter, my Mum (hang on that's not right ), the support band's parents, other 'so called' musicians, other bands with the generic "you're tight" observations, drunken idiots giving them career advice or any person not mentioned previously in order that they can avoid packing the gear away... do I speaketh the truth?
16.
... but then to me it's irrelevant when compared to my Dingwall ABZ which weighs a ridicolous: 7.12lbs / 3.50Kg!!
I'm in the same boat where I have 3 basses that I gig/play regularly and they are between 7.5lb and 8.5lb (sorry for mixing metric/imperial) and experience tells me that a 9lb+ bass will give my ageing weary shoulder jip!
17. I'm trying to get a good impression of the 'actual' weight of these basses (as opposed to manufacturers guesstimates), do you have a decent set of kitchen scales you could throw your CV on to better inform my possible next (remote) purchase? My local music stores don't have any in stock and I'm likely to be buying used from here or eBay and not everyone can or will be able to give an accurate weight so it would be a huge help.
18.
Any last minute offers, oh BC community, before it comes off the FS list at 5pm?
Last minute offers I have plenty of... one that will snag this bass, alas no! Bump for the final hours.
19. I'd take the body shape, contours and colour/shellac finish from my Streamer; the headstock and piezo from the Bolin; the neck from the Zon. I'd then take the tone from all 3 of them and I'd have the ultimate bass... that I can think of at the minute!
20.
The bass is in great condition, I only sold it on as I wasn't playing it and I am quite keen to get down to twenty basses.
^ Fixed it for you mate!
21. Now with full title and correct year!
22. If you use the search facility on the sale forum you might establish why you are struggling to make a sale; the Euro/£ exchange doesn't help!
23.
Hi All Here we have a Stuart Spector Design 4 string bass in black. The cover over the trussrod lists this as an NS-4. It's a neckthrough design with a slim and easy to play neck. I believe that these were originally manufactured in Korea? The bass has active electronics and SSD badged pickups. It's not got a huge output but you can dial in a variety of good sounds. The E string tuner has a drop tuner but this doesn't appear to have enough travel so I've never experimented with it. The bass has a number of bumps and scratches from being gigged but these are all superficial rather than serious. The picture of the neck shows the fibre optic fibre from my Fret FX fretboard light which I can either remove from the bass or can be included with the bass for an additional £20. A hard case is included in the sale price. I'll re-fit the original strap buttons before any sale. I'd prefer a sale although trade wise I might be interested in a nice P or a P/J with some cash coming your way. Viewings and collection available from North Bristol. I'll happily travel up to an hour from here for a purchaser or arrange shipping (insured) at a cost of £20. Any questions please let me know. Cheers and thanks for looking Pete
As I'm sure you already know Pete, the bass isn't an NS4 and I'm sure one of the Spector experts will be along shortly to identify it but I think it's something like the NS2000 model. Not withstanding the changed truss rod cover its a decent enough bass with a thru-neck for £160. <edit> Oh and you could equally say that SSD is 'post' Spector but as it is, your bass is an SSD!
24.
I really can't understand that, what's the difficulty about making a parcel ?
Well I'd personally fail at the first obstacle as I'd be expected to get my lazy ar5e off this chair and go get the required materials... hence I couldn't then waste that time and effort responding on BC threads!
25. I have to say that with a BO neck bass/guitar I'd actually be happier with the neck removed if it didn't have a dedicated hardcase! +1 for Interparcel (intermediary for UPS TNT etc but actually cheaper than booking direct with UPS TNT... try figuring that one out). Check out this thread for more details on couriers. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=36625
