I'd take the body shape, contours and colour/shellac finish from my Streamer; the headstock and piezo from the Bolin; the neck from the Zon. I'd then take the tone from all 3 of them and I'd have the ultimate bass... that I can think of at the minute!
Hi All Here we have a Stuart Spector Design 4 string bass in black. The cover over the trussrod lists this as an NS-4. It's a neckthrough design with a slim and easy to play neck. I believe that these were originally manufactured in Korea? The bass has active electronics and SSD badged pickups. It's not got a huge output but you can dial in a variety of good sounds. The E string tuner has a drop tuner but this doesn't appear to have enough travel so I've never experimented with it. The bass has a number of bumps and scratches from being gigged but these are all superficial rather than serious. The picture of the neck shows the fibre optic fibre from my Fret FX fretboard light which I can either remove from the bass or can be included with the bass for an additional £20. A hard case is included in the sale price. I'll re-fit the original strap buttons before any sale. I'd prefer a sale although trade wise I might be interested in a nice P or a P/J with some cash coming your way. Viewings and collection available from North Bristol. I'll happily travel up to an hour from here for a purchaser or arrange shipping (insured) at a cost of £20. Any questions please let me know. Cheers and thanks for looking Pete
As I'm sure you already know Pete, the bass isn't an NS4 and I'm sure one of the Spector experts will be along shortly to identify it but I think it's something like the NS2000 model. Not withstanding the changed truss rod cover its a decent enough bass with a thru-neck for £160. <edit> Oh and you could equally say that SSD is 'post' Spector but as it is, your bass is an SSD!
I really can't understand that, what's the difficulty about making a parcel ?
Well I'd personally fail at the first obstacle as I'd be expected to get my lazy ar5e off this chair and go get the required materials... hence I couldn't then waste that time and effort responding on BC threads!

I have to say that with a BO neck bass/guitar I'd actually be happier with the neck removed if it didn't have a dedicated hardcase! +1 for Interparcel (intermediary for UPS TNT etc but actually cheaper than booking direct with UPS TNT... try figuring that one out). Check out this thread for more details on couriers. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=36625

Only just found the 'other' thread after I'd posted on this one... I now understand!
The seller of the Aguilars has edited his ad to read: "attention - this price is for EACH cabinet" so not such a bargain after all. Curses....
Definitely not a bargain! £500 will get you new ones and some change, even if you have to drive/fly to another European country to get them.

Dear Linus27. I have an audition for a new band tomorrow. Will I improve my chances of getting the job if I stencil Ampeg SVT on the front of my Thunderfunk? I've already filled my Aquilar DB112s with lead-weights and the silver cloth grille makes it look like a miniture 8x10 (especially if I place it far away in the corner of a dark rehearsal room), so I'm half way there. Please tell me I'm not bowing to the fascist non-bass playing fraternity who believe that all amps should be SVT and all basses should start with the letter 'F'... OH She it! I've just realised that I don't own one of those basses and that the 'W' on the headstock will never disguise as a 6 letter word starting with 'F' and ending 'ender'; I'm doomed and may as well cancel my audition.

OK so who got him to reconsider his stand on obeying eBay's rules? Someone must have done as it is now pulled from sale!
Not being funny, but you'd think seeing as he's asking $15,000 for a bass, he might want to sell it a bit better. One photo? It looks like crap, and his description is no better I know they're sought after and all....
You're right of course but it could be a deliberate ploy whereby interested parties go to his website/shop and buy it direct, thereby circumventing eBay fees! Cynical... Moi! -

Well you'd expect it to last at least 50 years... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-1960-Jazz-Sta...10906?pt=Guitar

Everything EXCEPT a Warwick! No in all honesty I dislike big, flat, clumpy basses and unfortunately the Fender Jazz fits into that category. I absolutely love the look of them and the tone on a good one is excellent but as soon as I try to live with one I keep comparing it to the diminutive body of either the Zon Sonus or the ergonomically curved, concave/convex Streamer NT... heck even my Bolin feels small in comparison to a Jazz, Gibson T'bird/Ripper, Ric etc. I will add the caveat that it doesn't stop me coming back to try them every once in a while. I haven't mentioned the tone of a bass because I can manage to mangle any of them to sound the same anyway.

I want to know which touring band the boyfriend is in, he must be a right lying toe-rag to kid the seller that this was an expensive MM!
Did you spot that Fender '75 RI signed by Marcus M that went for £599? That was a good £150 less then I'd have estimated.
If that was the USA one with the Sadowsky circuit then yes; unfortunately as you know I'm fickle when it comes to colour and the natural MMs do nothing for me!

Courier points system and courier issues
warwickhunt replied to paul, the's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
+1 for Interparcel - UPS. Sent a Streamer to the other end of the country and despite them taking my online booking and then later telling me that I had missed the collection deadline, I was still happy with the service and the bass arrived safe and sound. Oh and advice to those perusing this thread intent on sending a package by courier... pop down to your local cycle retailer and ask for one of the boxes that their adult sized cycles are delivered in; they are the perfect length and depth to take a hardcase you just need to cut down the width for the ultimate 'cheap' packaging (slip the offcuts between the case and the box for extra protection). Be polite and they'll likely be over the moon to give you a box for free as it costs them to have the packaging recycled. -

I'm sure you'll have noted that it isn't confined to Ric's (though they generally aren't subject to big swings in used value), I've sat and watched a couple of very nice MM and Fender basses go for not a lot of money (sellers couldn't/wouldn't divulge weight so I didn't bid). Odd because I was under the impression that used prices had bottomed out and were bouncing back a bit! Oh well, good if you are buying but naff if you are selling.
