NBD: Excitement then disappointment … and now happiness
PaulThePlug replied to SamIAm's topic in Bass Guitars
As it was hard to find, i'd be looking more for a favourable discount... What was the postage? So it's gonna cost them that to get it back... Then they have got to try and sell it Damaged B Stock... and pay post out again. Outer box undamaged, Inner box damaged They can't blame the Courier as must of been like it when second boxed. Pull em up on how disappointed you are, and meant to be new... Paid say £200... gonna be £8 - £10 post.. I'd be asking for a partial refund of £50... Keep the paint chips safe - should glue up fine, and touch of black nail varnish - not that i wear it you understand... ahem! If it plays nice and it's what you are after, mainly as they are quite hard to find. -
Awfully brilliant or brilliantly awful album title puns.

Passive aggressive p-bass pickup recommendations?
PaulThePlug replied to MrDinsdale's topic in Accessories and Misc
I've a Tonerider TRP1, although a little different from the norm, with HFV Heavy Formvar Wire, in a P Bitsa... Alnico Kent Armstrong Hot Vintage JBV/PBV PJ set in a Bitsa Jazz... Alnico With another KA PBV arrived for another Bass project. All quite Warm and 'Vintage'... I've an Entwistle PBX / JBX PJ set in an Aria Jazz Modder... Ceramic A Bit Edgeier... Budget, and Looking at the previous responses... The Entwistle PBXN 'Neo' is meant to have 'Guts' but has disappeared of ebay of late... Maybe a KA PBO Ceramic... bit more £ than the Entwistle... Or, Wilkinson? Ceramic again may be that bit more aggressive... Stellartone... Is this what you are after?- 22 replies

I'd give the neck bolts a slacken, and a wobble of the neck, similar sorted my Jazz Bitsa.
-
I've a Harley Benton Acoustic HBO 850 with cheap Adagio Flats and it sounds sweet to me... way way better than the squeaky phosphor bronze it came with. I've got Adagio Flats on my P Bitsa and J Bitsa and Olympia Flats on a Modder and on my Epi LP 6 string.

Mmm... Nuts, as chatted about before, equal space between, on equal space centered... Going by the String 'v fret marker at 7 and 9, if its not the camera angle, I'd start with slackening the neck bolts and see if there is some wriggle room... Or perhaps the bridge needs a nudge to the right.

Luthier / Woodworker required for Fill 'n Route Job... Anyone able to help? EDIT: Andyjr1515 has kindly offered to take this on.. i think the state of it upset him and he felt sorry for it!

Attention: Woodworking Type Peoples... Would any of you be able, and like to take on a 'Fill 'n Re-Route' job? In my quest for my perfect bass i have an Ibby SR Body in need of a makeover... Simply(!)... # Wooden Block 'Humbucker' Fill the existing pickup cavities, # Wooden Block 'Batt Box' Fill the rear cavity (Needs to be filled for new pickup mounting...) # Wooden Dowel fill 'Shaft' the 3x EQ holes a 1x Switch Hole, Then... # Route for a Single Split P in the Sweet Spot, or 10mm - 1/2 forward, (will it make a huge difference in sound?) For an easier-on-the-eye middle to the original front cavity. Some pics 'n blah blah in the post below. Any Takers? Ta Muchly...

I was listening to music on the headphonrs, and just watched without sound... Back in my apprenticeship days one of the bosses gathered us round and showed us sand casting a cylinder for an old british motorcycle. Great use for Ally Cans. I like seeing Craftsman at work... PaulThePlug replied to Soledad's topic in Repairs and Technical
Not sure on the 6mm v 1/4 but... Its usually that 1/4 are too big for 6mm knobs. Tother way is minimal... mini tone pot on a P/J bass - help please
PaulThePlug replied to Soledad's topic in Repairs and Technical
Or... just use the split shaft, but align the knob so the grub screw goes in to the shaft gap to force apart for grip, rather than on the splined halfs, squashing the gap... -

Saddle Height Screws... Spaldings Fasteners on the bay A2 stainless... various lengths and points... couple of quid. -
Usual is EQ, Gain, Modulation, Delay... But... back in the 'ol G'tard days... I used to have the Delay before the Modulation. That way the Delay Repeats Changed with the Modulation... rather than getting more of the same.

Let's see if i can get it more chopping board, than floor board. The sort of thing they use to serve a fancy brioche bun burger in a poncy pub with chips in a mini shopping trolly!..

More Heat Gunning Today... That sealer is bloody thick... and the wood finish rough with a few cracks Start Sanding tomorrow, will have to give it a Danish Oil 'Slurrying' to try and fill the cracks and even it out a bit...
