I’ve never understood the flak U2 get either. The Joshua Tree is one of my favourite records ever, and they’ve written more than their fair share of top tunes that most bands would kill for. They’ve also been right at the forefront of pioneering the whole audio/multimedia experience a lot of acts pretty much use as standard now. I realise Bono isn’t everyone’s cup of tea and judging by that video his voice isn’t able to do those songs justice anymore but to deny the impact they’ve had or the great songs they’ve written is just blind.

How do we get rid of the 'Privacy' tab that's now appeared??
Bassybert replied to binky_bass's question in Site Issues and Questions
Not to keep flogging a dead horse as it sounds like the Ezoics experiment is over, but since I accidentally clicked on the continue with recommended cookies button I’ve had a marked increase in spam coming into to my email account. Coincidence? -
How do we get rid of the 'Privacy' tab that's now appeared??
Bassybert replied to binky_bass's question in Site Issues and Questions
I had them all deselected but as I was checking the enormous list of companies in the Vendor List the save and exit button moved and I inadvertently clicked on the continue with recommended cookies button. So now I have a huge list of boxes ticked with no easy way to disable them except to clear all my cookies and have to log back in. Again. The attempts to monetise this site from guest visits whilst simultaneously peeving off paid members is not something I’m enjoying. -
I bought Bernard’s Rode NT-1 microphone and shock mount. Great communication throughout and the gear arrived well packaged and exactly as described. A great guy to deal with thanks @BCH 😊

40th Anniversary Precision £259 at Thomann!
Bassybert replied to Frank n funker's topic in Bass Guitars
This. I’m pretty sure 99.99% of an audience and 99% of bass players themselves wouldn’t be able to hear any noticeable difference between a rosewood/laurel board or different bridge. The decisions back in the day to use these now hallowed materials were almost certainly made using bottom line thinking rather than some tonal nirvana. -
Using a powered speaker with an Ampeg SGT-DI - Is this even possible?

40th Anniversary Precision £259 at Thomann!
Bassybert replied to Frank n funker's topic in Bass Guitars
Of course it does. Everyone and their aunt knows a 2 piece bookmatched alder body with a straight and narrow grain pattern sounds better than some common 3 piece nato muck. It’s all about the tone don’t you know! On a serious note, that jazz looks immense and I’m seriously tempted. -
Bass Sound Capture to Computer - Interface?

I use a Scarlett 4i4 into GarageBand, does a great job and doesn’t break the bank -
One of my favourite ever films must have seen it 20+ times. And also the sole reason I can't listen to the majority of 80s metal - I just can't take any of it seriously after watching that film!

Is It Necessary To Learn Music Theory?
Bassybert replied to greghagger's topic in Theory and Technique
I'm starting to get more into theory after years of coasting along and kind of rebelling against it when I was younger. It's taking time for some of it to sink in but there's so much great information available especially on YouTube it's almost overwhelming 🤣 The main reason for wanting to learn more is to be able to mirror what's in my head much easier when playing with others and creating lines, I've found learning theory fast tracks that process so I spend less time farting around. It also helps me figure out parts of songs a lot quicker. I really wish I'd taken more of an interest at an earlier stage but you lives and learns!- 43 replies

I'm my own puppet sometimes - it's depersonalisation...
Bassybert replied to Gasman's topic in General Discussion
Me too, I’ve had that sensation quite a few times over the years, usually quickly followed by my heart jumping at the thought of what’s just happened and then it slowly dissipates and it’s gone. Weird. -
I’ve just had my original 90s ABM 300 15” combo serviced by Ashdown, spoke to Dave Green himself and it cost £64 including return postage, turnaround was really quick too. No one comes close on the service side of things, I’m sure they can get it sorted with minimal fuss.

It’s not helping solve anything but that looks one hell of a rig, hope you get it sorted ASAP!

That looks beautiful, a gorgeous colour combination!

Sold some LaBella flats to Andy, a pleasure to deal with 😊
-
Selling these flats as the string tension isn’t for me and I’m back onto roundwounds 😀 The strings themselves are in excellent condition, theres a small amount of fraying on the headstock end silks but nothing to worry about. These have been cut for standard Precision scale length… E - 109 cm A - 112 cm D - 117 cm G - 122 cm Payment via BACS or PayPal please. Any questions please ask. Thanks, Jim

This is next level shizzle. Such clean work.

I was looking at some DOD stuff on the OVNI labs compressor reviews site and they all seem to be Ross clones and seem to lose a lot of low end/more guitar focused - might be spot on if you're after a brighter pick style tone? http://www.ovnilab.com/reviews/dod280.shtml

The only person at a gig who loves a drum solo is the drummer. And maybe, just maybe an audience member who plays the drums. But even then it's like watching your wife having sex with another man.- 100 replies

Oooh thanks for the heads up @BlueMoon I did see this one a while back but forgot about it as it was out of stock IIRC Might have to take the plunge as it looks awesome, a fairly complex build but nothing outrageous.
