  1. If you have been playing for 30 years without knowing all this stuff what is the drive to do it now? Has it become a sticking point? Are you in danger of losing your position in a band because the others find your lack of technical knowledge too limiting? Or maybe just for your own benefit? I don't know my arpeggios from my elbow and, whilst I accept it does hold me back from what I 'could' achieve in reality it doesn't make a huge amount of difference to what I 'do' achieve. Just takes me a it longer.
  2. Pet hate of mine. I am ALWAYS on time. The only way I have ever been late for something is if my extra contingency travelling time is used up by extreme traffic conditions, and I generally allow enough time for that not to be a problem. The way I see it, if someone is always late they can just as easily always be on time. It believe it to be arrogant and disrespectful to make others wait 'just because' they are always late.
  3. I bought a G1 Compact pretty much as son as they came out. Before that I used enormous Trace Elliot cabs that sounded nice but were too much for my poor old back. The Compact was no only light but sounded immense - perhaps lacking a bit of top end clarity. I added a G1 Midget, which by itself lacked bottom end, but together with the Compact made what I considered to be the perfect rig - the two cabs complimenting each other perfectly in that it was full spectrum, lightweight and a pretty transparent output. I didn't see myself changing, tbh. Then Alex brought out the Supercompact which was claimed to sound exactly like a combination of the Compact and Midget - the perfect one cab solution!. I bought one and was blown away with just exactly how full range, lightweight, transparent, loud, small to load in and out etc. it is For my particular requirements the Supercompact represents such a perfect one cab solution that I, er, bought a second one. Simply because this one cab does what two cabs did before in a smaller single unit and with a touch more transparency I would say the Supercompact is a better cab to aim for - if the sound is what you are looking for. Some people prefer the more coloured sound of the Retro range. I have a One10 for its extreme portability but haven't tried any of the rest of the range to compare.
  4. My Bon Jovi tribute band 'Just Jovi' has a gig at Leigh Community Centre, Leigh-on-Sea, Essex - part of a summer of tribute bands there called 'Leigh Rock' Saturday 24th Feb doors 7:30. There is a support, we'll most likely kick off around 8:45-ish Details here: https://martinwoodevents.co.uk/qsot-event/leigh-rock-bon-jovi-tribute-night/02-24_2018-730pm/
  5. Smoke On The Water in 1972 with Deep Purple mkII.
  6. If you contact TC they will most likely send you some. I forget who exactly to get in touch with, but they sent me some.
  7. Here's one I just thought of...
  8. Are you able to weigh this accurately, please? Just, you know, out of curiosity.
  9. A BF Supercompact sounds like the two together and is, for me, the best one cab solution out there. Except I got another one
  10. I used to play this with a former band and that isolated track is pretty much it. Ii think I added a couple of extra notes in the little twiddly bit at 5:30 or so in but everything else was how I did it. Except I play with a pick, so the feel is a bit different.
  11. There's something not quite right about that headstock decal but I can't put my finger on it. Where is Mr Prowla when we need him!?
  12. Bought a Hipshot tuner from Nick in the most straightofrward of transactions. Great comms, immediately dispatched, most pleased. A pleasure doing business! Paul
  13. Thanks!! Just ordered one.
  14. Looks like this will do the job? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CCTV-12V-0-5A-500mA-AC-DC-Adaptor-Power-Supply-5-5mm-x-2-1mm-UK-Plug-2M-Cable/401394476386?hash=item5d74f9a562:g:khkAAOSwyltZTPNz
  15. I really shouldn't be let loose on anything remotely electrical!
  16. Yes! Clearly written in the back of the unit where it plugs in... positive centre. Thank you again!
  17. Thank you. How do I know if it is positive to the tip/negative to the ring? The transmitter unit is just free-standing, not racked, but one of those inline jobbies looks more fit for purpose I have to say.
  18. I use a T Bone IEM 75 for my IEMs and find it good enough for my purposes. However I find myself becoming increasingly irritated by the supplied power supply - rather than a UK plug it had a Euro plug plus adaptor, which is bulky and inconvenient. Also the lead itself isn't very long. The specs according to the handbook are 12V @300mA but i don't really understand what this means. Assuming I keep with those values are these things interchangeable so I can buy some sort of generic power supply? And can a short lead simply be extended? Muchas gracias Paul
  19. This is another one my little band plays - I see a trend - simple basslines that I can't f#ck up....
  20. I imagine the dodgy headstock logo put you off, too... I have one of these and discovered it was the first 5 string I could get on with - it has very narrow string spacing at the bridge and at the nut. Perfect back-up bass, takes up no room in the car or 'on stage' (leans against cab steadily on 2 legs). GLWYS!
  21. One of the best voices ever.
  22. A few years ago there was a short film following how this evolved in the studio that someone had uploaded onto YouTube but the full version seems to have vanished. Keef on bass, interestingly.
  23. Oh yes.^^
  24. Here are three that I play with my little band - great songs, real less is more stuff.
