  1. Ladies and gentlemen we have a winner!
  2. The problem, as I see it, is that the OP believes he is right and on-one appears to be agreeing with him. Rather than thinking 'oh well, horses for courses' there is much digging in of heels and citing more and more extreme examples to show that Basschat is, indeed, going to Hell in a handcart by - yes - aiding and abetting criminals in this fashion. We are all sinners.
  3. The magic word missing from all of this is 'intent' - surely? No intent to deceive (or recklessness as to whether anyone was deceived) , no hay una problema.
  4. Where is it located and where is the destination? It is not beyond the realms of possibility that a tag team of Basschatters can transport it - its been done before.
  5. I saw UFO a very short while after Schenker joined - before Phenomenon was released - at a small venue that was the basement of the Queens Hotel in Westcliff. I would think it was in 1973 as I was still going to the youth club and a bunch of us went from there to the gig. An amazing sight - patched denim flares, no shirt, Flying V wedged between his knees. He remains one of the best guitar players I have seen live even after all these years and he was only in his teens back then. Saw them again in London towards the end of the 70s when Schenker stomped off stage.
  6. Your Yamaha would be ideal because of The Selecter.
  7. Alice? Who the flip is Alice? Sorry, wrong song. Happy Christmas!
  8. I'm sure I read somewhere he started off as Kinetosis Kevin?
  9. That is sooo bad!!!
  10. Queen of Clubs for disco, surely?
  11. I picked up a bass for the first time in my late-40s, had my first public gig at 50. Now, at 60 I am in two bands. A new Bon Jovi tribute with big plans and a smaller pub band. Both equally good fun in their own way. Currently have a weak lower back, a hernia, torn rotator cuff in my left shoulder and a touch of sciatica down my right leg... Light gear, light basses is the way forward!
  12. My classic rock band played most of your core set. Others we did that always went down well were Live and Let Die GnR Rosanna, Toto Here I Go again, Whitesnake Feeling Good, Muse version. Loved playing that! Don't Want To Miss a Thing, Aerosmith (surprising to see who was singing along with this in the crowd) Anything by Bon Jovi (we ended up morphing into a Bon Jovi tribute band) First encore - Sweet Child Of Mine. Cliche but got a huge roar every time as the ice cream van opening started.
  13. If you get no nearer offers, I am just off the A13 in SE Essex between Basildon and Southend.
  14. Makes perfect sense. Most, if not all, of my kit I have because it pleases me.
  15. I may be missing something but is there any reason why you aren't looking to a Precision bass to give you your missing P Bass-ness? Occam's Razor may well apply.
  16. Well, that is what they say about the 60s - if you were there you can't remember it. Although as time progresses it is probably more to do with dementia than drugs.
  17. She does indeed have green fingers - that's a beaut. And, yes, Ficus lyrata. GLWYS, anyway
  18. Look at that neck! Mikkel - I see a lot of nice plants here and there. Do you know - the large-leafed plant in your house - is it Ficus lyrata?
  19. I'm into week 10 after paying my deposit! Keep looking at the mock-up picture...
  20. Today I acquired a Fender MB-5 from Hamster of this parish. A real live MIJ Fender, 5 string bass. Passive, J/J pickups. Very tight string spacing, especially at the bridge end - which I really like. Weighs approximately 7lbs - unbelievable for a 5 string bass. Sounds to me like a Jazz bass, especially when the blend rolls away from the neck pup and gets some of the bridge in there. Quite astonishing. Could be the start of something beautiful I wonder what the MB-4 weighs?
  21. Bought a Fender MB-5 from Colin in the easiest and most pleasant of transactions. Met half way on the M25. a pleasure doing business!
  22. We shouldn't encourage him....
  23. well, as it happens.... I fear the paradox that I am attracted to it because it is essentially an uber-lightweight jazz 5er but worry that it isn't a precision. Only one way to find out.
  24. This is where they score so heavily for me- they just slip into the boot and then prop themselves up against a wall without needing a stand. A convenient get out of jail option.
  25. Well, Marc - he who hesitates first has the last laugh. Or something. Couldn't resist - there aren't too many basses out there I fancy but this ticks so many boxes!
