1. I have a Trace Elliot 715... Oh light you said. Oh, er.... Sounds good though!
2.
It's a shame the Associate Board don't do electric bass grades. I might have a pop at a double bass exam with them though.
Don't be daft, the electric bass has only been around since 1951. Far too modern for them! Well done on the theory though. Learning that will open a few doors for pro work, if you fancy that route.
3.
Something strange going on with my Tascam Bass Trainer - every time I play or note or touch the strings for that matter, I get a feint whoosh in my headphones. It sounds just like (sea) waves lapping up on the beach
Have you got the "prog rock" button switched on?

Ibanez

Great guitars - never been sure about the basses. But don't ask us, if you like em, that's good enough!
5.
I used to have one of these, they are fabulous amps. Good luck with your sale
+1
6. Tried contacting Session themselves? They might have spares, you never know. They're only in Basingstoke. http://www.award-session.com/
7. Interesting topic. Over the last few years, I've ended up gigging two basses that are Far Eastern, in favour of "pro" basses like American P's and my Stingray. I just find them easier (and more enjoyable to play). The American basses I've had seemed to be made of lead, be really chunky and and bit unwieldy. Mine are outside of your £200 limit but you'd easily get my Yamaha BB614 secondhand for that. Great bass, well made, great tone, nice to play and light without feeling cheap. Looks the mutts too - gotta love a matching headstock!
8.
I want to play with other musicians, regularly, but casually. At this moment in time I don't want to form a 'band' as such, I want to play with a drummer and guitar and/or keys, from the perspective of improving myself.
Try putting an ad with words to that effect on partysounds.co.uk and see what you get back. Nothing to lose. Title it: "Musicians wanted for jamming" or similar. Good luck!
9. 1. Get the chord chart (or tab) the guitarist is working from (so we're in the same key at least...he has a habit of changing them and learning strange versions) 2. Look at the chords at home with the song to learn the overall structure 3. Learn the signature riffs in the song 4. Try it out at rehearsal and simplify/change if it doesn't work We're a three piece and sometimes the original bass lines don't work (esp during guitar solos) so I have to simplify them!
10.

Could you get the guy in the background to scroll down on the Sky EPG and Sky+ Jonathan Ross for me please? Nice cab though - if I wasn't about to spend out on the summer hol, I might be in the market for this.
11. Used to be Korea, now Indonesia. By Cort, if I'm not mistaken. Pickups and leccy bits are US made.
12. Haven't enjoyed a Jaco or Weather Report album since I was 16 and I was told I needed to like them to play bass. Load of nonsense - both the advice and the music!
13. Re-learn the fretboard? Sounds like crazy talk!
14. Look homemade to me. Buyer beware.
15.
so THATS whats in your pic! I've been tryin to work it out! lol!
You've played it at the SE bass bash, you numpty!
16. Gig a 4-string one of these all the time. Great basses. Light, loud and punchy.
17. Might need a service then. Try Steve Rowse. He's sorted out my Trace combo for me when it started playing up.
18. Sold. Status Stingray 4 3EQ with Status neck. With original neck fitted:
19. I think most of Mayer's studio basslines were done by another guy - Dave LaBruyere - who's a great player. Check out the albums where the bass lines are much clearer. As an aside, I have seen Mayer playing live and was very underwhelmed. The band stood rooted to the spot like bored session players while Mayer was having some sort of eyes-rolling religious experience on the front of the stage!
