  1. Enough fun in Jazz regarding the po faced purveyors. Check out the three way spat between Miles Davis / Lester Bowie and Wynton Marsalis.
  2. You been watching the White Stripes again.
  3. Suspect the Stones et al will be tottering around on stage while they can still manage their (titanium/carbon fibre?) Zimmer frames. Or maybe animatronic substitutes.
  4. There was a T34 (once painted pink) off the Old Kent Rd in London, dunno if it's still there.
  5. This. Am using Laney Nexus N410 + N115 cabs plus (more than 12kg) TE AH500x. Sounds fabulous.
  6. It was a Consul allegedly. Horse was called Incitatus.
  7. Cassandra Wilson Abbey Lincoln
  8. Johnny Hiland goes to his Nailbar, imagine you could check out your nearest reopened ones for their heavier duty options.
  9. Aand just got it back from a clean up / set up with new d'Addario Black Tapewounds, Fret Polish. Sounds absolutely great and plays beautifully. Low B sounds enormous, a perfect match with a Trace Ah500x / Epifani UL501. Been playing it most of last weekend. Even prefer it to my Sire M2. !!!!
  10. Yes. Epifani UL212 bought secondhand. Am in love with it.
  11. Yes. I checked out the history a bit, the guys name was Steve Goodrick. Been playing with it today, sounds very good indeed. Big old lump of a thing, lighter than my Trace though.😅 Sounds absolutely lovely through my Epifani and am Itching to get my KSD back from Luthiers. However, need to get a tonepocket or similar, keep on neglecting to use my practice Amp & I live in a Flat !!! Headphones time B4 the neighbours start a petition.
  12. Obscure/Unsuccessful. Took a punt on this v cheap. Sounds very nice, valve pre seems pretty good eq a bit complex for me. Compressor useful. Not sure it's 800w loud, not that this is (or ought to be) a problem. Anyone else seen/tried one, if so did YOU like it.
  13. +1. Budgie never really registered with me back in the day. Heard them on an OGWT rerun a few years ago. He was a really strong singing bassist. Gather sadly that he has really severe health problems nowadays.
  14. Yes, would like to hear that with a nice preamp etc. Being a Luddite and hobbyist am over invested in trad Amps Cabs presently. Primarily lightweight Cabs admittedly.
  15. Isopropyl Alcohol. Good for tapeheads etc too (non perfumed match)
  16. Many moons ago recall a studio owner pal having some major hassles with some of their power amps mind.
  17. Types often seen toddling around C London on Harley Davidsons with overloud exhausts and bolt on mean man expressions.😆😆
  18. Purpleheart seems to be a Kiesel "thing" at the moment. Saw a guitar top there that simply looked like chopped red cabbage to me. Owner was not "impressed" when I pointed this out. Do love some of the Kiesel / Carvin basses mind.
  19. Borrow some birch twigs from the local sauna. Must admit I've found the Qsc items that have been on sale here fascinating.
  20. Thanks for the edit, I can now rationalise / justify my recent amps & cabs splurge. Seem to now have options for any conceivable occasion for sure.🤣🤣
  21. Like with hi fis I guess the law of diminishing returns does apply. There's a furniture aspect with the high end stuff. Sometimes I wince a bit at the endangered tropical hardwoods thing. Some of the stuff on the Kiesel FB page gets a bit grotesque.
  22. +1 for last 3. Some alright old Washburn's too (scavenger for pbass)
  23. My Sire M2 5str (Gen2). Second hand £200. Would like an M7 for the additional switching options but over £500 new. M2 probably the nicest "modern" bass for the money, though I haven't tried the Harley Benton option. Unlikely to happen, have 4 basses and am now saving for one more only (👌😅). After a Luthier bill has been paid.
  24. Yikes - did the foolish office entanglement (twice). Have to give this a listen
  25. Had a brief tryout while I picked up N115, quite impressed. Plenty of power, seemed pretty flexible. Wish I could have spent longer with it. They had the big Laney Valve Amp too, imposing ! Didn't get a chance to do anything other than gawk.
