  1. Yeah, I don't "get" that pickguard configuration at all, though I've heard they're pretty acceptable instruments. Must admit I still like my VM Jazz, apart from the excessive weight.
  2. Why bother when below you're offered the option of a fretless 4 string Banana Bass for £145.53. So gruesome that I can't be fagged to attempt to post the eBay link. Take a look if you feel like risking your optic nerves.
  3. A pretty comprehensive selection of effects for a Bassist from way back when. Have to admit it was a Band that rather passed me by at the time. Should probably give them a try via utoob given the reputation conferred so many years later.
  4. Also a new Collab between estimable Danish Guitarist Karl Mörner Ringstrøm and Bassist Henrik Lindner of Dirty Loops.
  5. Sounds like a question to be run past @agedhorse
  6. Many thanks, have consciously avoided an eq like that since my 1980s days of playing music on boogie boxes with graphic eq's😂😂. Suppose I just have to forget ingrained notions from hi fi usage, i.e. running tone knobs flat or bypassed. Have been trying the little thing through 1) A Laney N410 sounds very good tweeter at 1/2 setting. As usual I find this cab a delight and the little Amp sounds pretty hi-fi and goes too loud for home. 2) Laney N115 no tweeter 3) the Ashdown 410 that came with it, just old school. 4} Epifani UL212 which I correctly expected to be too hungry @ 4ohms for the Ashdown. Still finding it's best through the old tungsten weight Trace 1818t so I will give your recomendation a go later and give my KSD 605 (audere pre and tapewounds) a run out. Will set pots flat and tweak the q switch till I get a starting point. We shall see how it goes. I need to do some displacement activity today, practice a better option than Nicotine & Coffee.
  7. As per a previous TBer's mention of her single (which also jumped out of the radio for me), and after her featured artist slot on R6 music. Downloaded the Albertine Sarges album. Have to hitch the phone via my Hi-fi but still comes over pretty well. Intelligent pop music with only a couple of duds (IMHO). Single was "Free" earlier on in this thread per posts by @Nail Soup and @Old Man Riva.
  8. To some extent true, I'm sure @agedhorse could give us some definitive info. There is the potential (geddit 😆) of a residual charge hanging in there and any sort of DC shock is emphatically life threatening. Valve amps more so than solid state but even so. I purchased a snuffer stick and discovered where to use it before I even cleared the dust out of my TE Ah500x. This had the additional benefit of me being able to do a visual check on the state of the Capacitors. Roll on to when my friends and I can go to the pals Dutch Barn and go for the full Spinal Tap option. 😂😂🙏🙏🙏
  9. True nuff. Have been playing a lot, listening to music. Don't do Television anymote. Been shielding because I'm diabetic. Difficult to get any exercise more taxing than Bass and long walks where I live in C London. Not ideal.
  10. I'm guessing / hoping that your friend has access to a snuffer stick to safely drain the capacitors. In my childhood I saw a friend of my dad's make a mistake with a capacitor in a (1960's) television which he was fortunate to survive, though I guess this would be extreme by comparison to the amplifier versions.
  11. Check out the little Line 6 ld110 being advertised by someone (not me) in marketplace.? I've still got mine and it includes your required features. Is there still an Ampeg ba108 still on offer there too.
  12. All look nice for £ 256. Sadly no LHand option available?
  13. Born to be Wild - Steppenwolf (inevitably)
  14. I thought a natural referred to an Afro hair option ??
  15. Yup - in the end it's really a first world problem to be grappling with. Especially in present circumstances.
  16. Got this last month for home use (absurdly cheap via evilbay with an Ashdown rm410 cab for under £300) When I did a little research here there was a thread regarding the use of the passive tone controls on CTM (30?) which I haven't re-located. Any recommendations if anyone's located their personal sweet spots.?? At present am using it at home with a Trace 1818t with the bass at 9 o'clock, mids / treble1o'clock and bright switch engaged. Sounds good to me at sociable volumes. As I recall @Chimike sold one of these heads recently? Any tips Mike ? Been primarily playing a vm70s Squier Jazz and a Sire M2 in passive mode. However have found the KSD 605 with Mike's Audere preamp (which is my real favourite) is problematic through this head in terms of having almost too many options/tweaks. Anyone played a pretty hottish active bass through one of these amps? Any tips would be welcome. Did wind up the volume a bit experimentally (really surprising) but I'm primarily looking for a meaty but edging toward modernish sound at sociable volumes. EDIT. For this modernish sounding usage will likely use a Laney Nexus N410 or Epifani UL212 - likely at modest volumes at home so efficiency not an issue really if the CTM drives them ? Sorry for being long winded. Cheers All, keep safe in the current UK weather drama folks
  17. It only takes a minute girl !? (By a boy-band the name of which I can't quite recall)
  18. Thanks very much for the brochures which in some ways are rather more informative than the pdf manual for my AH500x (British Audio download). Hope it was ok to grab your scan for my own use. Carrying the head isn't really a problem, it's got a good handle. The 1818t cabinet however !! Feels like it was made of Tungsten. However I use it at home with an Ashdown CTM 30 as a practice amp and sounds lovely @ sociable volumes. The Trace sounds mega thru latter-day lightweight cabs. A friend has a BF big twin which it drove with thunderous aplomb. He now wants a Trace head I'm super happy with it via Laney Nexus lbghtweight Cabs (as recommended by @la bam) Also via Epifani 1st Gen UL212 which is 4 ohm if I only want to carry 1 cab. Pretty light and really too damn loud Would be intrigued to try the new Ashdown 12 band which would appear to have inherited some TE genes. Gassing for the CTM 200r though. Better revert to lefty Bass G.A.S. really have more than a sufficiency of amps and cabs. What my late parents would have made of the former dining room🤣
  19. As a lefty if I see a Bass that I fancy that I can afford I tend to grab it on principle. However my modded KSD 605 is my favourite though it needs the bridge pickup sorting and is over 13lbs. Wants - the Carvin on Marketplace here. An Ambler custom Thunderbird style. Quite a few of the (unaffordable) other lefties on sale here. Mike Lull thundebird style. A Gordon Smith semi hollow that appeared on their FB feed last year. I only have five basses !!
  20. Just sold for £123.00 if it had been a lefty I'd have gone for it. Suppose I could have played it L/H upside down. Used to really like my old Thunder, the 80s Westones were nice and they haven't really hit Aria pro II Price levels (yet)
  21. He sent me an offer for £539 (£60:off). Think @la bam could comment on this Amp. Tried one briefly in a Studio. Sounded huge, very (too much ?) adjustable. 400 valve watts !!!!
  22. Ashdown CTM -30 + MAG-410 Cab. Picked it up Sunday (social distanced and prior to lockdown natch). Suffered mightily on my own getting Cab up my 64 steps, took a while £299 on eBay removed the pain. A bargain I didn't post on weird & wonderful! Amp sounds absolutely brilliant at neighbour friendly volumes, which was the idea, lovely through a Trace 1818! (though it can get amazing loud thru my various cabs)
  23. He he Luke. I have a TE 1818t in an inner city flat (64 steps 😜🤣🤣🤣😥)
  24. Chris , you're a bad man / incorrigible. Saw this on FB Marketplace and really couldn't believe that price was for real !!! Assume you'll give us a demo clip on here / basses & amplification.
