  1. My God, one of my most favorite songs ever! David does a nice job.
  2. In the 80's we used Careering - Public Image Ltd. At the time we were playing a tune called Excuses. Sort of funk w/ a rapping lyric, kinda spoken word/poetry (white middle-class American chaps...you know)
  3. Same here Bro., and from what I've read and heard on YouTube the guys@ Reaper made a ton of $ on another project they sold and offer Reaper really afffordable as a give-back to us blokes. All we need to to do is make the leap to learn it. 62 and can't catch a WAV...
  4. I'm gonna add a couple, but when a band or musician TOTALLY TRANSFORMS a song you gotta give props so yeah, Jimi's version of Watchtower and Yes's version of America (and our boy Chris rips the snot into it) BTW, when asked about Jimi covering his songs, Dylan said he was suprised he hadn't done more, "they were all his anyway". My pics. Isley Bros.- Summer Breeze -Seals&Crofts. (I Know I'm) Losing You - Rare Earth Extended LP version w/ Killer guitar solo
  5. I have a smartphone. That I hate. I picked up a refurbished laptop for about $250 US. And I have Audacity installed, though I might go for Reaper. Tiny screens are tiny.
  6. A joke. Gosh, you Brits. An American can't even get a Canadian Joke in edge-wise.
  7. I really like Neil Young. Sometimes. Glad I read all 4 pages because I was unaware he played with the Bluesbreakers.
  8. Beyond the Bass Clef - Tony Levin (of course I'm gonna mention T.L.)
  9. So she just passed away at the tender age of 107. Neato kit, there. And a dancing conductor
  10. But, yeah...I DON'T DECIDE. It's in the brain wiring for me. ("This Is Your Brain On Music" - Dan Levitin -). And at 62 I really have a hard time with stuff I used to enjoy. Don't know why...I'm bored easily these days. And yet there's stuff I can listen to FOREVER. OVER AND OVER. And I love my own music on Stick even if it's boring to anyone and everyone else. I have no filter for my own music. Maybe Dan Levitin needs to write another book.
  11. I think that might be what us Yanks call "hipsters". I hope so. I like it. And yeah, any man-bunners out there, please take your uekelele and go home
  12. What's the connection with saxes and bassists? I played the trombone! I mean, I could be loud and obnoxious without an amp, I get that. But at least I already read bass clef. And I'm not TRYING to be cheeky, just wondering...
  13. Opened for Percy's Stone Tiger@ The Showplace Dover NJ it was a receptive crowd for our brand of odd contemporary music. Percy was a nice bloke. I was playing Precision fretless at the time and sounded like I was influenced by him, but when Unorthodox Behaviour came out, our keyboardist said, "Hey, this sounds like you." (I sounded like Jah Wobble too)
  14. "Honk" is the sound of all youse bass players going on about it...
  15. I'm waiting for the D'Addario competition. I have my scruples
  16. I picked up this beautiful Squier Affinity Strat on my birthday a couple of years ago at a pawn shop for $60US. Burgundy. Immaculate. I wanted 5 springs on the whammy bar, picked two up@ my fav guitar shop went home took the back plate off and promptly scratched the back with an errant screwdriver. Does this count?
  17. Nothing about the post or the playing, but was reminded of ONE of my favourite quotes from This Is Spinal Tap: "There's such a fine line between 'stupid' and 'clever'."
  18. No one was asking for pop covers? I'm suprised (and encouraged) I checked out your site. Nice.
