You know that fantasy that most of us have probably had where (normally at the start of a playing career) you imagine that Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten, Mark King, Roger Glover, Chris Squire or whoever, has slammed their hand in the limo door and the MD shouts out "is there anybody here that can play......." That number that you've nailed because you just love it. Hard or simple, doesn't matter. Just that dream song that you'd love to play with THAT band, on stage, and get to be the hero. Out of interest, mine's Danger, breakdown dead ahead by Bozz Scaggs.

I had a Junior way back in the 70's (cherry of course) and also an SG100 (slanted pickup near the neck) after that. Never got on with the 100 but the Junior was a fabulous guitar. Beautiful creamy tone with the tone backed off and cutting rock sound with the treble hiked up. Eminently playable on long gigs and a do it all classic. Miss mine.

When I bought this, the seller handed me a copy of the original sales receipt with his name and address on to prove it was his. It came from Andertons Music in Guilford if that's any help

I know it's all down to preference but why are you changing the pups and preamp? I must admit, I'm perfectly happy with the originals so I'll keep it like that, just curious as to what you don't like about them.

Most suppliers call it satin jade pearl when it has the tort pick guard but I've seen it listed as "champagne pearl" when it has the white pearl guard.

As far as "classic Van" goes, out of the two, this one is the more appealing and by far, the least boring of the pair.

I'm a nightmare. I take/have... Spare bass, head, guitar strings, gaffa tape, drumsticks, hi-hat clutch, bass drum pedal, mic, various cables, tools, batteries, plectrums and for two gigs, a spare snare drum after the drummer forgot his. I also usually take two sets of clothes to change into for functions in case our singer's hubby ( our sound man) looks like a sackofshit.

We played it tonight at a pub in Bourges. I think the owner was a.little worried that stuff would get broken. Not in a bad behaviour way, but down to everybody being a little over-enthusiastic with their dancing and King Louis impressions😆

Brilliant. Not Torquay is it? I've seen some really cool and very different buskers down there in the shopping centre.

I'm sure you're all aware of "One step beyond" syndrome by where anybody in the audience who doesn't dance, is over 50 years old and usually has a career as a QC, a surgeon or chartered accountant suddenly starts strutting around the floor and throwing upper-cuts at the air. Well, as a special request, we busked "I wanna be like you" a little while back. Singer only knew a few of the lyrics and we guessed a key (Em) to have a go. BLIMEY, I can only recommend that if your band is up for a little fun, get this in the set list. They go crazy. They sing along and, we've even had 50 people trying to dance like apes. We rocked it up a little as the guitarist had heard a version by Fall out boy which really moves. Highly recommended at the end of the evening or if you have a lackluster audience and need some response.

And that bass must be a foot taller than the bassist😂

I know, I was simply confirming your statement that everywhere is a long way from Norwich. Although, Dereham is relatively close, compared to France.

Bloody brilliant. A week long huge exhibition for the town of Montlucon. 4 enormous exhibition tents displaying local businesses. We played in the grande salle with all the bars and restaurants. We should have been booked to play tonight but as I was playing another gig tonight with a jazzy RnB band, they gave us the Friday instead. Had about 500-600 there for the off and kept them all there until the end of a no break 2 hour set. Very grateful bar owners shaking our hands afterwards as it seems the bands on the three previous nights had all cleared the place by 10pm. Really enjoyable gig.

Saw Roger Hodgson supporting Toto in Switzerland three or four years back. TBH, they knocked spots off Toto. Fabulous mix. Was never a huge Supertramp fan in the early days but it all became more appealing the older I got. He gave the crowd all they wanted which was basically Breakfast in America and Crime of the Century, played to perfection, leaving the crowd in a great mood of expectation for the headline. We were then treated to the worst mix you've ever heard, with a bunch of blokes that looked like they were all on their way to the cafe from the local building site. Grubby jeans, shabby T-shirts, a Lukather that you couldn't hear, a vocalist that should have insisted on dropping the keys down a full tone, a geriatric David Paiche dancing around with an arthritic shuffle and a crowd shouting "bring back Roger" All in all, a great Supertramp gig which made the whole trip worthwhile.
