Instruments that you to this day regret parting with!
leschirons replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
A Mk1 Hamer Steve Stevens signature, an Ibanez Steve Lukather signature, a 1970 SG Junior, a 1975 Les Paul gold top, a 1976 Ltd edition Korina Gibson Explorer, an ex Jimmy Page Yamaha SG2000 and a Parker Fly and finally, a Fender Esprit Elite (Robben Ford shape) But no basses. Spookey😳 -
Bars etc opening here in France as of tomorrow (Green regions) As the weather is usually good around now, the few we play are all capable of putting on gigs with plenty of outdoor space to adhere to distancing although, I'm not that keen until there is a vaccine available. We still have a few that weren't cancelled and just got offered another today for August but our drummer is on holiday. Sod's law. Haven't actually missed it as much as I thought I would.

What have you got against slap bass?
leschirons replied to Barking Spiders's topic in General Discussion
Tried, failed, gave up, so now, I say it's horrible (but still secretly wish I could do it) I would take a pretty safe guess that I'm not the only one like that on here.😉 -
The band has recorded a number (Human) at our individual houses for a bit of lock down fun and now the guitarist wants us all to do an individual video of us playing it. I have a hankering to get my face to change to that of an android robot at the finish of mine so, any suggestions re software etc would be greatly appreciated. Preferably free software😂 Thanks

Bull & bollox. Lies you have been told...

Wasn't Steve was it? 😂 -
Bob Geldof is starting to appear on TV, no doubt to advertise the very few Boomtown rats dates that could be remaining after the current problems possibly subside. If anyone has a face you want to punch, it's him. Even more so than Piers Morgan 😆 Okay, got that off my chest. Thanks.

I guess it all depends on how keen you are to achieve a particular result and if you regularly have problems at certain venues achieving that particular result. I must admit, I am a bit of a "that'll do for tonight" kind of a guy. As long as it sounds okay to me (I check out front at sound checks to make sure I'm not too loud, quiet, toppy or boomy) and no-one complains about anything, I'm set. I had a Vigier Passion with the semi para mids years ago and did actually use the function on that but recent years have seen a change to more traditional and simple controls on instruments for me. Anyway, good luck on your quest.

OLP Tony Levin sig 5 string. They come in orange. Great basses too.

I have parametric EQ on my amp and have had it on an instrument and in all honesty, I don't think it's ever helped me achieve the sound I liked on the night. Not much help I know but if your interest is going to result in you spending money, I'd really think twice about it. Most modern active basses have 3 band EQ on board and I've found that sufficient.

Stuff you bought and never used (but still have it)

That's the one. That one classic line, is the reason I have barns, absolutely full of useless s-h-i-t😂 -

At least you got rid of the right bit, the Frontera😂 -
Many many years ago, I purchased the new Zoom 10/44 digital recorder. Cost me around £600 from memory. It still has the one track I recorded on it, a mate with an acoustic singing Folsam prison blues for his Mum. Never even got past the intro of the manual. Advertised it a couple of months ago on Face book for 60€ didn't get one reply. I imagine we've all got something like this in a box somewhere.

My SR5 has a Glockenklang pre with passive option pull switch. It's the future.

Next five gigs cancelled so far and just heard Printemp Bourges, a huge festival week for a whole large town involving about 100 bands has been cancelled.

The speeches will be over at 9pm sharp and then you're on. We're expecting over 1,000 people. Just start, I can sing it in any key. Can my mate do a number? He's really really good. -
How was my gig? Cancelled, like all the rest this month😅

Sorry, from the title, I assumed this thread would be about our lead guitarist.

There's a great video on You tube with Matt Bissonette playing this live with Boz. Really nails the bass line and it's very easy to hear what he's doing.

I was there (in a support band) when Genesis played Graves End civic centre to promote their single I know what I like. Phil Collins bought me a lager and lime. I was there for the first ever gig by Peace. The band that Paul Rogers formed after Free, and before Bad Company. They lasted about 2 weeks. I was there when Iron Maiden played the Plough and Harrow in Leytonstone for £35 I was there when Mark Bolan said "erm, no, not him" after playing my second number at my audition as drummer for T. Rex. Lucky now I look back, he might have offered me a lift home. I was there at Hollywood studios in East London when we heard a band rehearsing in the next room and peeked under the window privacy blind dividing the two rooms only to see, Paul Young dancing around with his todger out. I have to say, he certainly had nothing to be ashamed of😳 Hollywood studios was owned by the guy who owned Metal Mickey. I was also there when our drummer peed up the robot. Boogie boogie😅

What's the best class D bass amp head you've used?
leschirons replied to thebassist's topic in Amps and Cabs
Currently back on a Mark Bass kick with an LM2. Been using a Shuttle 6 for a couple of years with the LM as the back up spare but they've now changed places. Easy to use, no reliability issues and a tone for every occasion although the GB is better for EUB on the odd cocktail gig.
