  1. 5kg is nothing for me, but I'm a big lump. If you otherwise love the instrument and it's only your back putting you off, then why not try one of the various hip strap systems out there?
  2. George Harrison's Cheer Down. We've decided to add it to our set list is a nice, bouncy, easy listening song to open with. That's fine by me as George is one of my musical heroes and I love the song.
  3. Great band, a diverse body of work, most of it excellent.
  4. You've tried the middle ground, and for whatever reason that isn't helping to resolve the situation. Send it back for a refund and start again elsewhere.
  5. Buddy Holly by Weezer. Not too taxing, but good fun to thrash away at.
  6. Same here, I've often considered the mandolin. Mrs Bassfinger plays the pink oboe, much to my delight 😉
  7. Aye, gold machine heads, when they arrive.
  8. I still have a semi, but it's a bit closer to the climax now.
  9. Geddy Lee's Big Beautiful Book of Bass. It won't help your playing, but it'll give you full on GAS.
  10. What a wonderful bass. Lovely condition, and a beautiful simplicity to the design. I shall be insanely jealous of whicher lucky schmoe buys it.
  11. I quite like the Rick-O-Like they do. Not quite a clone, but still a nice variation.
  12. Oh no, not for me I'm afraid. There's just too much going on visually for my old set-in-its-ways eye.
  13. I wouldn't say I miss it, but I am looking forward to our next gig. Playing to the bedroom mirror doesn't give me that same thrill.
  14. It's a dance tune. The topic did not specify an era or a sub genre, and I quite like it.
  15. I agonized over that question for some time, but the neckmis on the way and the fretboard is... Rosewood.
  16. The photo make it look a bit stark, it's much more brown and subdued without the flash, and the ash is much less yellow.
  17. I haven't got full wood yet, but I've got a semi...
  18. Wee Bassfinger has the surf green. I think it looks lovely.
  19. Jethro Tull's John Glascock on Bursting Out. You can tell he's just diggin' it.
  20. My Daughter as a J & D Mini and I'm astonished at how nice it is. Solid alder body, lovely poly body finish, very nicely set up and needed little in the way of tweaking out the box, and feels like a much more expensive instrument. Genuinely very impressed, can't knock their quality for the asking price.
  21. Got a headache, like Phil Lynnott is playing bass in my brain.

      Waiting for an Aspirin!

  22. I never felt the MIM ones sounded any worse that otherwise like models from the US. Made on on identical tooling to the same QC standard, I can't see any I reason why they would sound inferior. I think they're great.
  23. I've a daughter and a boisterous labrador - the basses go up on the wall.
