  1. On the bass it would have been Sunshine of Your Love.
  2. Vlad the Impaler stuck spikes up peoples bottoms for less than that.
  3. I should thing flats would be ok, but might be worth trying it with a cheap ish set first.
  4. I trust the yes brigade wont be bleating about working for free? Work for free so someone else can get paid ? How is it then the bands fault if pubs and clubs close?
  5. You're very generous Ead. I've have told them to jog on.
  6. Perhaps, but I'd make it very, very clear that's it's only once or twice - or however many we agree - and then that's it, no wonga no play, no matter how much you plead. I dont mind genuinely helping out under the current circumstances but don't want to set a precedent.
  7. I think its guff as well, but many people believe in it. Who is to say which is right?
  8. My music teacher at school was also a local radio DJ. He really got me enthused about music, playing, and media, He's still going, now with Radio Cambridgeshire full-time (A-ha!)
  9. I love it. Some of these isolated tracks are fascinating to listen to.
  10. Will anyone actually be daft enough to pay money for this?
  11. He meant to type "custard", but it came out as "custom". People have been excommunicated by the catholic church for less than that.
  12. That's even if they still have the footage - due to GDPR storage guidelines they're unlikely have footage over 28 days old.
  13. Sell it, buy a Rickenbacker 4003, spend the rest on hookers.
  14. Music has always been a part of my life, but 2018 I fell well and truly back in love with rock music. Along with that I've broadened my horizons, and I'm listening to music, be it radio or my own stuff, about 6 to 8 hours a day.
  15. Some of us don't have a smartphone to download music file to...
  16. You cannot be trained to be creative. Similarly, it's entirely possible to be creative, but unable to express it in a certain way due to lack of knowledge, training or ability. You either are or you ain't - history is littered with noteworthy examples from both camps, which must surely preclude any possibily of musical education or otherwise negating any creative ability.
  17. Well, yesterday I awoke find my water bed leaking. I cleared that up, and then promptly slipped over in the shower and landed on my butt - I have a huge bruise on my right arriss cheek and can't sit down properly. Then, and this is the kicker, I was diagnosed with a form of narcolepsy and have been told I cannot drive until the symptoms are under control. This was a real ballache, as I'd driven to the Hospital. So, after that little lot, if anything happened to one of my basses id probably end it all,
  18. Late update. My home brewed P Bass is today complete. I used the cheapo pickups which I'd spiced up with the rather powerful neodymium magnets (compared to the old ones the difference in strength is astonishing) and have today given it a blast. Well, the output is predictably high. I'm running the instruments volume at 2 to achieve the same volume as my other bases do at 7 or 8. The sound clear and punchy, with an almost acoustic like quality to the sound. Not quite what I'd expected, but not unpleasant either I'll have to put a few more hours on the to get to know them better, but early indications are that for the sake of £4 of magnets and some glue I have managed to seriously pep up a cheap and nasty pickup.
  19. I'd have just deleted anything not written by George Harrison. Job done.
  20. I've had formal music training (not on bass) and I have zero creativity. I can play a tune as written, or mimic another player on a recording with the best of them, but come up with my own bassline or solo? Nope, just doesn't happen for me. Best I can manage is a few widdly fills or a bit of walking, but even much of that is simply conforming to how I was taught as a sprog. I see little evidence of any real correlation in either direction.
  21. You need to try one and see. I've played plenty of expensive basses and guitars that were, quite frankly, s***e, so price alone is never enough to get me suspicious.
