When you're buying secondhand, how do you know whether the MIA bass you're buying is an American Special or an American Standard?
Physically I think the neck profile is slightly different ... I think you'd notice if you played them side by side, but playing one of either on their own, some people might struggle to feel the difference.

Rare Danelectro CT01 Transparent Overdrive. This is the first version and is modelled on Paul Cochrane's more expensive "Timmy" pedal. It's a great sounding pedal, but it's not being used. It needs to go to someone who'll use it regularly. Fender Standard or Fender 70's - Is it worth the cost?
Fuzzbass2000 replied to Hazza's topic in Bass Guitars
If you're looking at MIM Jazzes. there's a fiesta red roadworn jazz over in the for sale section - with a hard case. The roadworns are bleedin' marvellous especially at 2nd hand prices. Definitely worth a look. -

How long does stuff take to come from Thomann?
Fuzzbass2000 replied to stingrayPete1977's topic in General Discussion
If it's in stock, then they're pretty quick - ordered some stuff Friday PM and got a text Saturday saying all despatched. -
Playing with a kicking horn section is great. You'll have a blast - go for it!

Hey - thanks for listening and making the change.

Hercules Stands and Nitro finished basses
Fuzzbass2000 replied to Old Horse Murphy's topic in Bass Guitars
I had the same dilemma when I got one of the Roadworn nitro finished Fenders. I've been using a Hercules "neck grab" stand for 6 months and not seen any bad side effects. -

I really miss the conversational aspects. Yes there were quite a few "wish I had the dosh" type comments, but in amongst all of that I learned so much from the interaction between the buyers and sellers - as well as the interested parties who might not have had the cash, but did have the knowledge. That's the one thing I don't like about Gumtree - no interaction. Another thing I'm finding is a bit of a pain is if I click on the features or questions tabs, they are effectively new pages - so to get back to the full listing I've now got to hit back a few times or find the classified button at the top, get the full list, select the filters etc.... so it seems like you've introduced more clicks. So... not quite working for me yet.

Are the custom shop pickups something different from these? Link to amazon Which at one point I'm pretty sure were called the '60s pickup?
