1. At first I thought Highway 1 but does that headstock look goofy or is it a weird trick of the light? http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/fender-p-bass-for-sale/1002561210
2. Anything that's pointy, has no headstock, has more than 4 strings or more than 1 neck.
3. Not overly familiar with SG Basses... is the difference between this one (faded) and the one on the Gibson site(glossy) just down to the body finish and the block inlays?
4.
As soon as you realise you'll never be any good at the guitar. That's when you become a bass player And just in case you missed it
.... when all the other slots in the band are taken.... and there's some truth in that for me....
5.
"Triggers Broom principal" ie built it with whatever bits come to hand , replacing parts as better ones come available, until all of the original parts are gone.
Ha! Never heard this before.... but just realised that my BitsaP is actually a Triggers Broom Bass (3 necks, 2 scratch plates, 3 pickups, all the electrics.... just the body, BBOT bridge and earth wire to go.....). Is the current version of Dr Feelgood the ultimate Triggers Broom band? Apologies for the derail.

7.
Working in a music shop and encountering both brands on a daily basis I have to completely disagree. Gibson QC is appalling and we send AT LEAST 50% of all stock back due to faults. Dodgy electronics, poor finishing etc.
Fair enough - it was more an observation on the designs as opposed to the QC vs other brands. If everyone's having to send instruments back in significant quantities hopefully they'll get the message and fix it.
8. Gibson have raised their game significantly on the bass front. The Midtown's a good looking instrument as is the new EB (i think). First time in ages I've looked at new Gibson basses as a serious option.
9. Use both - sometimes depends on the pace of the song, sometimes depends on the needs of the song. Using fingers lets me control the dynamics much more though. Main thing is it's good to have the option to use both as needed Funnily enough when "noodling" at home, it seems to be mostly fingers.
10. It's a great bass a good price. The new owners a lucky guy.
11. I've a set of long scale 45 / 100s that I won't be using - pretty sure they are these ones (will double check tonite). http://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_7250ml.htm A straight swap would be perfect.
12. Thanks - at that price they're worth a punt.

14. Yes - it is much much quieter. I was lent a boss one today and that seems to be better - just a little pricey.
