These days the best 115 could easily be a 112. Seems like old stereo types are hard to kill off.

Another 1980’s Peavey BW115 user here. I never understood why they just put one handle on it!! I also had the 215, the overkill version! That was a nightmare to move and didn’t last long. The best 115 was a Dynacord combo, but for cabs the Mesa RR 115 EV couldn’t be beaten. Loud as flip with the best tone. Damaged my back lifting it but what a great sound.

I understand others have different preferences and I have a one dimensional view. I don't see the point of owning a bass and not gigging it. Since day one I've been playing bass because I want to be in a band and that band must be gigging. All my playing at home is either geared to improving my technique or learning songs for the gig. Re Xotic basses, check out Travis Carlton. He switched from Sadowsky to Xotic, which sparked my interest. They are some of the best sounding basses I've heard, but every last one I've checked out has been over 10lbs. That's a show stopper for me.

I always get the impression that these guys do very little homework and try to get by by being "geezers"! If I had either one as a next door neighbour, I'd have to move.

That's what I've always done, until I got my BF one10's. Since Lockdown #1 my home rig has been 1 One10 and an 800 watt Thunderfunk amp.

Guilt is knowing you did something that you shouldn't. Gig and home rigs is just common sense.

IME if you like the sound of an amp through a cab and you want more, just get a second cab, the same as the first. Then again, I briefly had an Ampeg 115 and an Ampeg 210. I discovered it wasn't my sound, but the band liked it. I think that cab would explode if you tried to put 400 watts into it. You'd max it out nearer 200 watts. IMO 1 better cab would get you a bigger sound than 2 of these. I'd suggest @FinnDave has a Barefaced Super Twin 212 for sale, or even a single 112 Super Compact would bring another level of sound reproduction.

Hi, the bridge and tuners are Schaller, the pu's and pre amp are Barts. All work done by Chandlers at Kew. The nut is plastic. The original snapped under the E string during a gig in 1971 and had to be replaced. The frets had to be replaced, also in 1971. I'd just finished a 7 month stint playing 6 x 45 min sets, 6 days a week on the US airbases in Germany and they were wearing out!! 1968 was not a great year down at the Fender factory! After all that work, it sounds like a million dollars. Way better than it ever did in its original state. I don't play it because I've only played 5 string basses since 1996. Cheers.

My 1968 Fender Precision (A neck) is sitting in its case in the corner of the room. It's only been out of the case twice in nearly 20 years! It was seriously modded in the 90's, so there is little "original" value there. I have no urge to gig it and it's been around for so long I'll probably never sell it either. Here it is . . . .

Ashdown grew out of a split with TE. Why would they want anything to do with putting a competitor back in the race?

I briefly had the exact same one in about 1988. Cost £275 and I sold it for about £250. It weighed a long way north of 12lbs. I've still got the tweed case it came in.

Wasn’t there one in the classifieds awhile ago? Might not have sold. A Super Twin would work well. They are sensitive cabs so your watts sound louder. A500 watt amp would probably be ok.

Not all Leo basses were great and not all CBS basses were bad. @Lozz196 is more of an expert than I’ll ever be, but a bass that feels right and doesn’t sound good can easily be fixed with a pickup up grade. I’d rather be buying an ok used bass and trying to make it better than searching for the perfect new bass.

I owned a 5 string mk2 Custom Wal and then replaced it with an impressive mk3 for a few years and loved it. After I moved genres from originals to rock/blues/Americana it didn't seem to get used much. I sold it to pay for the new patio. I'd love to have it back, but it would be played even less these days. I have nice memories but, these days, I couldn't sink that much cash into a bass for it to sit in a case.

I read that. Also Bergantino 12's and 10's work together, as did my Mesa Boogie with EV 115 and 210. Make your choices carefully and you can find matching cabs.
