1. I agree wholeheartedly. It happened to me . Some people haven't got TIM!
2. Have the volume turned down, and blame the p.a ( in other words mime )
3. I treat warming up, and practicing in shops as. 2different things . I used to warm up at home with scales for the first half hour , then learn other stuff. Other types of warming up, meant improving my finger dexterity. As for playing in shops , I used to be one of those irritating /naive people who wanted to try and impress . Trying to slap when you can't , is never good. Tapping etc. Having said that, I was learning new stuff and was getting carried away. If I was playing in a shop now, I'd just take my time and play a few things I know.
4. A can of worms is about to be opened;) From yodel to dpd. I'm not sure tbh, so will let others chip in instead . Bump
5. I see it's a feeler. You may change your mind. How long have you had it ? If it's years and years , sell something else ( the wife maybe, but not the cat). If you haven't had it very long then maybe , you should have another bump to highlight the sale
6. James played sitting down
7. If this was headless, it would be mine. It isn't , but it's a status anyway..so have a bump.
8. Mmm,well... Gas is soooo dangerous ! We already know that. TBH , if you're gigging or just recording sound cloud stuff etc.I would say you only need 2 ( 3 if you want a 5 or 6'er). You have your main bass which is either fretted or fretless. Then you get the sister of that bsss.then if you're lucky enough to get a 5/ 6 string of that, you should be well catered for. There is (yet another ) debate for some folk who have multi string basses, and that one seems like their only bass as they can play virtually anything on it.
9. Good price for the bass synth wah( and the others really). Have a bump
10. I like effects , and I like clean sound.Technology. Has come a long way .With guitarists , it seems they have their 'sound' ( ie Marshall stack & a few pedals ).Taking this approach , I have a gk combo and some sepetate effects from boss( flanger/delay etc.) If I were to get a preamp again, I would get a cheap no name amp and play it through that. I would imagine that the ordinary would sound great. But put the preamp into my gk amp, I guess it would always sound like an imitation.
11. There is a gadget I recommend you look into at your local b&q/ homebase etc. you put it onto, the wall that, you propose drilling. This will prevent you from drilling into wires /cables . I forget the name of it now , but it will prevent any danger and will basically tell you if you should drill,in that part of the wall,or not.
12. I think you've hit nail on head jack. When I first joined , you had tbbc who was great entertainment . Sarah 5 string ,mewsie Sarah billy Sheehan ,old git (rip) some of the moderators have moved on(?). It's very hard sometimes to get your point across, but a lot more posts see more basschatters jumpy and shouty. Not my thing .
13. Yeah, I've noticed it myself. Then again , I spend way too much time on here;)
14. Having a restructure of my bass collection, plus a couple of bills are coming my way. Story is , when I got my first proper bass I fell in love with it . It's a washburn status . Back in the '80s /'90s, I always wanted a Steiney. They were expensive . Managed to track one down about 10 years ago. Why do I prefer the washburn? Only because of the string spacing. It is perfect for plectrum, and guitarists who play bass. Other than that , I love it . The sound is professional and awesome . One day , I may get a proper status. The bass itself; rare split pickup configuration . Not the 2 humbuckers that were mass produced at the time. This was called the xm2 custom I believe.1987 was when it was made. It is all original, except for the jack socket and one saddle that had to be replaced. The front is immaculate. There are one or 2 marks at the back , but it is a28 year old bass. The stickers can be removed in a couple of seconds. Got them in a card shop, Basses considered washburn status or a decent headless with cash my way. Not Hohner ,as I find the sound wooly . Uk only , possible meet up in London . Cheers More pics will be added later
15. Due to a couple of bills on the horizon( plus I don't do much anymore),I am contemplating a restructure of my bass collection. Condition I would rate 8 3/4 out of 10 . If I had a frame for this, it would be in there. Vintage for sure.( not the brand ) Will chuck in a Rosak padded gig bag of course. Comes with Bass/ original strap and cloth.p Meet london preferable . Sorry uk only . Cheers More pics available
16. My first gigging amp was an alligator drum amp. You could use it for keys apparently too. So I guess you'd be ok
17. Sister were great. Always live. Trouble with them , is they run out of ideas after stay hungry and assumed we wanted to go back to the 'happy days ' era of the '50s.
18. No. It's 2's and 3's this week
19. Mmm. I Was used to dealing with stingy guitarists. Whenever I rehearsed, we just shared the cost equally ( ie £8-10 each for 3-4 hours) . Can't really remember drummers being an issue . If you all get on well, then why not split equally and enjoy a harmonious band relationship while it's there.?
20.
Not heard of a headless bass before, who makes them?
Status/steinberger/Hohner
21. If you have issues with your back etc, and you used to play guitar.,why not either play a short scale bass or headless?
