1. Cheers Len looks like the micro cube is s must . Effects ? Well , most of my gigs were without any. In the last band I was in, I used the zoom b2 1 .u Good sounds on it. I only used it for a couple of songs , but it started randomly going to large distortion instead of flanger. This happened at more than one gig. living in a flat , the bass micro cube will do fine . I love the fact that it has a drum machine as well as a few effects. I would imagine my boss micro, series would be a lot better. Shame that there isn't a drum machine on the Xl series. Also a shame the looper is only available on the 60/120 watt Xl series. The gal lien Krueger amp has no effects , but is very light . The 20 watt Xl is probably just as light but no looper or drum machine . What will probably happen is, I get the micro bass . Then if I want to play with others, decide what to do with the gal lien Krueger . Advice always welcome if I could drive , I would probably got the 120xl. Cheers
2. Thanks Len .. I'm being swayed towards the micro cube even more now Just wondering ; if the model I chose has an xlr socket, could this be played through a p a to increase volume ?
3.
Cube 30 I believe.
Nice . Thanks
4. Mmm, TBH I prefer the bass micro cube. May end up getting that , and or cube 60xl
5. I'm finally beginning to get back to playing bass, after ages not bothering . All well and good . Since last year, I have been looking at the above . Can't see myself doing the band thing anymore , but may try and jam with others in a rehearsal room once a week if interest is out there. I may have too much gear and no idea , but I like the all in one approach . The you tube demos look good . I'm getting bored of the computer stuff, and will probably find it less of a hassle by just having one box with a few basic effects and maybe a looper. Thing is : I already have a few boss micro effects , and a boss looper. When I was ill a while back , I just never bothered getting around to using them except to test they were working etc. I even have a boss rc2 I have a gallien Kruger amp , which is portable and loud . What I could do by changing to one Roland amp , is use only 1 power socket , and it should inspire me to not be so lazy . Has anybody done this ? Are these Roland amps as good as they look ?
6. Just briefly flicked through the thread. It may have been mentioned already : soundcloud is going to be a subscription service I believe . Now my experiences over the last couple of weeks : I found it more clumsy to use. The layout seems to have changed. Keep seeing subscribe message , ahead of my recordings . Sounds messy the way I'm explaining it , but as a person who doesn't use it a great deal , I find it has changed for the worse. I will probably subscribe but don't like the subtle changes .
7. Well, there is a vacancy for a fiddle player on here .( sorry You'll obviously get some good advice on here , but maybe acupuncture or seeing a physio? Maybe your gp even? Hope things improve
8. Actually , what could be really entertaining is if a gig is arranged and none of the band show .., except for the fiddler
9. Thank you sir . I had a strum last night , and it didn't seem too bad. It's mainly the e string . I may just get away with lowering the bridge. TBH ,the intonation looks ok . Will try on Saturday .
10.
It's the fiddle player who should be walking. I wouldn't ask him to leave, I'd grind him into a smooth paste and flush him down the toilet. Is that a bit harsh? Probably. Anyway, he's got to go - being in a band should be fun and it doesn't matter how good a player someone is on a good day, it's how good they are on a bad day that counts, and he very obviously is failing that test. So he should go. Easy for me to say as I don't have to find another fiddle player, but you won't be a happy band until he's gone. It's not just the drunken playing, there's all the other stuff as well. He'll keep on doing what he does, he's a deluded alcoholic. Get rid.
Well said He's obviously highly strung . Makes a change from the drummer I guess . At my friends 4oth, he got drunk . We played paranoid like s.o.d . There's me smiling, whilst shouting 'slow down ffs'. Obviously couldn't hear me looking forward to an aggressive triangle player thread ..
11. Haven't read the replies yet, but I think you should walk. The guy sounds like an aggressive drunk/alcoholic . If the band are sticking with him , they aren't helping you much . You need to look after yourself . Alcoholics ? Fair enough , they sometimes can't be helped an need sympathy . This guy seems to be a complete twit .
12. Graphite necks highlight the problem imho , and active basses maybe . I used to have this problem . I used to change strings far too, often years ago, believing you should change strings after every gig . Now I leave them on for ages , and the problem has gone .
13. On the other hand , you played a good gig and never deafened the punters .
14. Changed strings on this a couple of times . When purchased , the action was on the high side . The setup now isn't that good . I was wondering : can this bass feel great like an ordinary bass?(that's possibly a daft question) How difficult is it to set up? Am I better off taking it to a tech? I initially bought it as an ornament , with view to occasional use. Now I would like to use it a lot more. Please advise Cheers ( I know how to adjust truss rod, but that's as far as it goes )
15. Congratulations . In July my Washburn status will be 28. Seemed odd getting it at the time , due to length of hair / wearing metal t shirts and not choosing a pointy bass
16. Yeah, you're right . Unfortunately;(
17. I think football should be banned from pubs tbh. It's hard to hear yourself think. Even when games are over , the shouting carries on. Even the lunchtime games are shouty affairs . When I was gigging , we often used to avoid playing on a footie night . We knew of the irritations that are caused.
18. Yeah, it's something that a lot of us overlooked for years. I would imagine that they would've been expensive years ago
19. Yet another legendary name from my childhood sad ;(
20. Yesterday , while doing some shopping in Kingston I came across a couple of picture frames ,which allow you to display record album covers. They were in hmv of all places. Cheap and cheerful . After cutting my thumb on the metal spikes on the back of the frames, I put them up in next to no time . I haven't the amount of albums on vinyl as I used to have , as I went the cd route back in the'80s. Thinking about what to put in there wasn't easy at first .Then I realised I could probably change my mind anytime and.change as and when . So here is my first effort. I took vinyl out of sleeve btw;) I'm sure some of you have some also? (As usual , when loading images on Basschat , the pics are not the right way up)
21. Well, I only Owned one 5 string bass. Wish I never sold it . Schecter diamond series. 10 a penny in the USA, but not too common here. Fantastic feel, gold hardware, and good for metal. Not a narrow 5 string . At the time , I went in to sound control , looked around , and bought it within an hour . My friend mentioned to me about sound control, and I blamed him for spending money . It was a diamond series stiletto elite 5 string
22. Steve purchased some music books from me a while back. Nice. Guy to do business with;)
