1. Well, I only Owned one 5 string bass. Wish I never sold it . Schecter diamond series. 10 a penny in the USA, but not too common here. Fantastic feel, gold hardware, and good for metal. Not a narrow 5 string . At the time , I went in to sound control , looked around , and bought it within an hour . My friend mentioned to me about sound control, and I blamed him for spending money . It was a diamond series stiletto elite 5 string
2. Steve purchased some music books from me a while back. Nice. Guy to do business with;)
3. It's amazing how much flack headless basses still get . IMHO they are probably the most versatile basses out there , and are good for metal Shame some look like cricket bats tho' as I hate cricket
4. Rob halford, King diamond, Tom araya, Dee snider, dio , sammy Hagar .. Female: Doro pesch
5. Thank you brx/gilmour. It seems that even if you have more than one 4 string, there will always be 'another' awkward tuning. I'm not in a band anymore, but if I was and it was for just one or 2 songs I would regard it as a p I a Looks like , if you want to change timings for a lot of songs you're better off going to a tech and getting action/ nut adjusted. I'll probably get another 5 string within the next year , after reading this thread.
6. Poxy broadband playing up again
7. Yeah, the driving force of hawk wind
8. Yeah , the driving force of hawk wind
9. Yeah, amazing . The driving force behind hawk wind .
10. Good call Dave. Now try and find greasy truckers ,with him doing the bass on master of the universe awesome
11. I'm a little confused. I was under the impression a 5 string would take care of all turnings , except maybe low g or something .
12. I'm sure a lot of us have seen bands that you liked years ago, but distance yourself from now. I have a few .To start the ball rolling, I name Venom! When I saw them at the hammy odeon , years ago they were good. Seeing exodus, with Paul bailoff supporting , and the mighty chariot helped as well. Haven't listened to venom for years, and can't see myself doing so again tbh . Anyone ?
13. I'm same age as op;( Bored of the band thing . However, I miss the sound when playing at a louder volume than in my flat.( with drummer / guitarist of course:) ) I may in a few months time, advertise for musicians just to jam and record with in a rehearsal room at weekends or something . Fun really
14. Why do these things come up at the wrong time ? Times are hard:( Bump What does it sound like btw?
15. Mmm. In some guitar repairs , they have lots of spare bits .etc. Maybe a shoe repairer ( timpsons )? Might sound odd, but they probably have the tools to do the job. Over to Othet basschatters
16. Looks like a cheap 70s lawsuit . Not my style
17. 2 jack Daniels ( only 2 always ) helped;)
18. Haven't read all the thread yet. I've always moved around , doing rock poses etc. Just for a laugh. Probably just as well , I didn't play a fretless or 5 string live Most times I've gigged, people have always remarked how much I enjoyed myself. Thing is , even if I was bored ( one man and his deaf dog etc) I still bounced about with nervous enthusiasm , giving the impression I was not
19. Serious bargain. Have a bump .
20. A long time ago, I was whistling the theme tune to friends . My sister heard me; ' do you watch friends ?' Embarrassing at the time I don't mind it TBH . Walking on sunshine on the other hand = dark clouds / burning with hatred etc. Had a conversation about the manics the other night . I hate them . Design for life probably tops the hatred list for me .
21. These days ( because I'm old/ older), I tend to be near the bar while watching bands. What did annoy me though at Venues like Astoria , where the security used to be over zealous , is when the moshing crowd reverses into us . Then a 14 year old girl can't handle her drink and makes things worse . Then there's the baldy guy ... It's always the baldy guy;) Happened only on 2 occasions . Now where is billy Milano ?
22. Where's Billy Milano ?
23.
Yes - that's a cassette deck you see amongst that lot. Sadly my precious Marantz CD player is broken, but it does look like I've found a localish guy who's up to the job of reliably fixing it and doesn't want something ridiculous as an "assessment fee". I was at a trade show last weekend that LINN were providing the sounds for - anyone want to buy a kidney? one fairly careful owner, low mileage.
Nice pic stu
