    I too am rubbish at learning songs and have a terrible 'ear' if I had to figure them out from just playing the track I'd never work it out. Our guitarist can, makes me sick. I load the song into Audacity slow it down move it up an octave to make the bass stand out then Google it to find the most accurate tab, thankfully there's usually one that's in the ball park, after that it's repartition, I sometimes miss out the twiddle bits until I've nailed the chord structure

    I use a Zoom B1on with the Sansamp clone mostly, on occasions I left it in tuner mode which is bypass, nobody but me noticed so I could probably get away without using it until Ace of Spades, playing that without fuzz would not be good, I seen some try it, and it's not

    as far as I am aware this is what amp and speaker simulators do perhaps with distortion and compression as well

    not a piano but I got rid of a bloody big side board and a massive drinks cooler (not at the same time!)by putting them ebay, 99p start, buyer to collect

    I used to do a blog, like you kept it light hearted, not many people were reading it, just friends really, so I stopped doing it. Most of our fans are old farts like us, so we just stick to Facebook, it seems to cover all the bases, (no pun intended) where as Instagram and TikTok seem to attract a younger crowd and don't do any more than you can do on Facebook as far as I can see, but maybe I'm missing something

    sounds like he's using heavy fuzz mixed in with a clean signal, one of the Zoom multi effects might do the job

    I was going to try and learn right handed, I found an encore bass left out by some bins which wasn't/isn't to bad action wise, but after a couple of attempts I decided it was just to much trouble and I can do some things right handed

    I use DR's as well, I used to get them from the States but they don't seem much cheaper these days and not many suppliers seem to keen to avoid custom charges like they used too, I bought my last set off Amazon UK for about £32, I've just checked and prices do seem to have gone through the roof, here and the USA, £43 from Amazon, £38 from Thomann are the cheapest I could find When I need some I just Google DR neon green bass strings and get them from whoever is cheapest They do last a long time though, I probably buy about 1 set a year

    this is exactly how it worked for the band I'm in, after 2 members left we agreed a value for the PA and me and the singer paid them for their share, any repairs come out of band funds, of course in relies on people being reasonable about it, some folk aren't

    exactly the same for me the only time I've really liked Smith songs was when Sandie Shaw did them

    Horse with no name, every time I hear the line "cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain" I think why is 'for' in there? makes no sense, totally wrong, just sing the line without it.

    I don't really see the problem, if you think Debbie Harry is past it, or anybody else, don't go and watch them, if enough people do this then they'll retire

    to state the bleedin obvious, it's a lot different being there than watching it at home, being there the atmosphere has a lot bigger impact than sitting at home watching it on TV

    surprised at the criticism of Glen Matlock, he was so low in the mix as to be nearly inaudible even through my 15" PA speakers, or maybe this was on purpose because he wasn't very good, I really couldn't tell, same with Tony James in Generation Sex's set, the only time I heard the bass well was in Elton John's set, on the ones I listened too anyway, which I admit wasn't many

    yes his voice sounded good but his dictation was as bad as ever, not a massive fan, so not that familiar with the words, without subtitles I wouldn't have had a clue what half of them were

    It was more to do with the mix than the Stingray, a Precision would have sounded just as good with that mix, once again a lot of performances suffered because of rubbish sound engineers, on TV at any rate

    Cat Stevens was exactly the same, as he proved when he had footage of him singing when he was young, and he's 74 now. Just watched Blondie, telephone was dodgy but I'd rather have them there a bit the worse for age than not at all
