in defence of Carlsboro, I used a Beasty for quite a while, till the preamp packed in, decent combo, still use it as a 1x15 extension cab and a back up which I can use if I plug my fx pedal straight into the power amp

once bought a drum kit, the most difficult thing I found was dissociating my hi hat hand from my kick drum foot, ie, when playing quarters on my hi hat I couldn't play dum dumdum dum dumdum on the kick drum, got there in the end though, then got fed up and sold the kit, I found it boring playing drums, especially when not in a band

ebay is a conumdrum, we all know it's a rip off, but you get to the biggest market by selling through them so you will probably get a higher price. I refused to sell my Stingray through them, sold it on here for less but actually got a bit more for it when the fees were taken into consideration, which are nearly £100 on a £700 item

trouble with a full PA is you're relying on the sound man, and anybody that's tried to make out the bass line from a record knows not everybody likes to hear the bass, you can set the amp up as much as you want doesn't effect what's happening foh, really pisses me off, the other week I was watching a band at a venue we play at and asked the soundman if my bass cut through more than this one, he said "Don't you think it's loud enough?" he turned it up in the second half, sounded loads better

this kind of thing is ok for bands starting out, basically you're playing for nothing which I've done in the past just to get support slots to name bands. If you don't want to play for nothing don't do it, simple.

once read Marc Bolan always tuned up to the highest pitched string, so by the end of a recording session he was a long way out, if it's true he can't have done many overdubs

had a stingray, now I've got a MIA standard P, which I'm a lot happier with, I think it cuts through better and I prefer the tone, but it's all about personal preferences at the end of the day

been doing a bit of experimenting with different formats and I've come to the conclusion that vinyl can sound better pecisely because it's not got such a wide frequency response, my amp tone controls cut bass at around 100hz and treble at 10khz, turning them down when listening to digital stuff initially sounds a bit dull and lifeless but I soon realised it was easier to listen to, and I can hear what the bass player's up to better because it cuts the low frequency around bass drum etc, a bit like the advice that is constantly given on here about cutting through the mix, low mids are your friend. Having said all that my hearing is shot so it might be a load of bollocks

big Quo fan up to Rocking All Over the World , then they got some poncy pop producer in instead of doing it themselves, the bass disapeared along with all the guts, when I'm talking to people a bit younger than myself I tell them "Before Punk all we had was Quo" they think I'm mad but it's more or less true, I got tickets for reunion show next march and checked out Quid Pro Quo, if you like the early stuff I think you'll like that check it out, it's on spotify
