if it's the should the pistols play GSTQ poll I've just seen it, not quite the same thing but close, the pub we're playing at sometimes lets us use his upstairs room for free to practice and we're back on Friday using the this room with TV Smith, perhaps we should just ask the landlord if we should play it, not very punk rock, huh.

our guitarist wants to play it our singer doesn't, quite frankly I couldn't give a f*** either way, what does eveybody else think?

went to see the Lemonheads in Derby last night and have to say I was disapointed, no attempt by Dando to interact with the audience, just the occasional "thanks" and "this next song is", his vocals were muddy, no encore and no Mrs Robinson. What about the bass I hear you cry, well it was some sort of Jazz, wasn't near enough to see which type, sounded ok when he played a couple of notes on his own at the beginning to make sure it worked, a bit on the trebly side, good for Mrs Robinson if they'd played it, but it didn't cut through at all when the rest of the band were playing just a bit of thumping, which is surprising considering how jangly the guitar sound is. Anybody else seen them? was it just an off night?

it's all about personnel taste really, I had a ray, now got a P and much prefer the tone of that over the ray, but that's just my opinion

just put some new elixir nanowebs on after having the old ones on for a year, about 30 gigs and practices most weeks, and I can't tell any difference, either I'm even more deaf than I thought or they're very good value foe money, £27 off ebay

I too would say a P is better for a power trio, not the other way round, I've had a Jazz, although it was a MIM one, I've now got a MIA P and I would say the P definatly helps fill out the sound of the band more than a Jazz.

hey I've got one of these, was my first bass, got me started, bought it for £40 of a mate, still use it as a back up for my MIA P, it don't sound half bad either, good luck with the restoration, don't expect to make any money though, one of the reasons I've still got mine is it sounds far better than what's it worth, if that makes sense.

I find it easier to remove the nut and use emery cloth to rub down the bottom of the nut, and if you go too far shim it with some paper/cardboard, someone will probably come on here now to tell me that's not how you do it, but it is safer, no fret board damge

make sure you get the polarity right, I had one of those and fried it by getting it wrong, no protection against it as with some pedals
