I've just sold my first item on Basschat and if all my transactions go as smoothly as the one I've just had with Martin, I will be truly fortunate. He's been communicative, helpful and friendly throughout and it's been an absolute pleasure to do business with him. Very highly recommended!
  2. There's certainly a lot of evidence of "faith" or "worship" music in the listed events and sponsorships, e.g. a Yamaha-sponsored Night of Worship on the Thursday and Lincoln Brewster leading a Worship Musician Chapel on the following morning. But I prefer to "believe" that it means we can believe in a future for music, despite what's going on. Naive, perhaps...
  3. So true - and I'm so glad you didn't keep it!
  4. Something like that, I reckon. I have just looked at an order I put in on 7th Jan (I completely forgot about the B-word), which was held up because a minor item was out of stock. I asked them to split the shipment, so I could receive the other stuff, which brought the total to £126 (it would have been £140). But the invoice shows both these totals include 20% VAT. Now I'm... er... "totally" confused. Love the look of those Minotaur straps, btw.
  5. As I said, it is a tree. I'm pretty sure my Stingray 34 was Swamp Ash but I much prefer the tone from my Bongo, basswood or not.
  6. As you say - Marmite. I loathe Marmite with a passion, but I love Bongos. On the other hand, I adore Twiglets. #conflicted
  7. I know basswood sounds as if it's made of chipboard, but it's a real wood and very light for its tensile strength. I'd be happy if I had basswood for the Sterling!
  8. I never had a problem with the G-string on my 4 until I started playing I Got You (I Feel Good) and kept accidentally pulling off the C in the main riff. Hmm, might have to get a new nut for myself - hadn't thought of that.
  9. This is what Thomann say on their site about this issue (unless I'm also having "blindness" issues, it hasn't been quoted in this thread). Having read it, I'm not a great deal the wiser, but I'm sure some of our more forensic accountancy experts can translate 😉 Information for non-EU countries Customs and import charges for non EU countries For deliveries from Germany to countries outside the European Union customs or import charges are to be paid upon arrival of the shipment in the country of destination. This is over and above the standard import duties. Charges for customs clearance (and its handling, e.g. by a forwarding agency) have to be paid for by the customer. We do not have any influence on these charges and cannot predict the amount. The customs regulations vary significantly from country to country. If you would like more information about this please contact your local customs office. Please note that you, as an importer, have to adhere to the regulations of the country in question. Special Rules for our UK Customers With the new trade agreement between the EU and the UK, new regulations have been applied to all commercial transactions between the two distinct markets. As of 01.01.2021 all current prices shown on our UK website do not include VAT 20% (Value Added Tax). According to the new regulations, the VAT (20%) and additional handling fees will have to be paid to the courier upon delivery with the only exceptions being special VAT-free zones (e.g Channel Islands). Based on the feedback we have received so far, Government Charges will be collected by UPS and they consist of the 20% VAT plus a small amount for the paperwork involved (usually around 2.5%). There is also an additional amount to be paid to UPS for their service, which is a minimum of 11.50 GBP. As not every order has the same customs requirement, for further information we advise that you check the costs and procedures in advance with the courier locally. VAT will be added and charged by Thomann GmbH after processing an order only if the net value of the items is equal or less than 135.00 GBP or if delivery will be to Northern Ireland. In these cases, no additional fee will have to be paid upon delivery. For items exceeding 31 kilos, or heavy goods such as PA equipment, pianos, etc., we have to employ the services of a heavy haulage company. As these new regulations only came into effect a few days before the end of the transition period, delivery by this method of transport to the UK is currently not possible. Further information will be included in our order confirmation email. Please be assured that with more than 20 years of close cooperation with our UK customers, it is our priority to find new solutions that will allow us to provide door-to-door online prices as soon as possible.
  10. Personally, I think those are beautiful, particularly the orange. If you're still looking, worth a try on the FB group? https://www.facebook.com/groups/37359529486
  11. I can't blame the bass - falling off horses and motorcycles and wicket-keeping did me in!
  12. Sorry to hear that. I have muscle damage in my lower back, so I'm happy that the Bongo is releatively light!
  13. Perhaps it's how you hold it? I tend to have mine quite high (so my paunch doesn't get in the way 😉 ).
  14. I bought my 4H from @Sparky Mark as a birthday present to myself more than a year ago and I absolutely love it. It's light, comfortably sculpted for the player and has that MusicMan sound in spades. I haven't had the too-hot preamp problem, but then I haven't been out into the world with it yet! As for the design, I think Patrick Hunter on YouTube had it in his first "Ugly Basses" video (he made the "flush" comparison too!), but in a world carpeted with Ps, Js and PJs, it's both distinctive and - depending on the finish - classy IMHO.
  15. Tru dat! Complex situation all round.
  16. Surely the trucks/ferries/planes that bring goods to the UK would be returning to the EU whether or not I'm returning an item? Better that they're full!
  17. I realise that EU returns are an issue, but historically Thomanns have been a great deal more accommodating than most of the UK retailers when it comes to sending things back - in other words, it could still be a problem if we were to deal only with the big UK stores, whether the goods are fragile or not.
  18. Any reason you think this is worth trolling about? Do you have a PC, tablet or mobile - also made in China? Sad too that you are recommending Behringer products (C-2 matched studio condenser mics) in your guide to IEMs.
  19. If it's slave labour, it was slave labour even before this deal!
  20. Never mind the PR language, most Behringer pedals are now only $19 from Sweetwater and £17.90 on Thomann. Got to be worth a punt, even with the delivery charge!
  21. Like quite a few others here (judging by some of the other listings), I bought this on eBay for £275 on a whim at the end of May, with the idea it would be great to learn during lockdown, but I ended up full-time WFH and only picked it up from time to time. It came with a gigbag and I bought the dedicated stand which cost me another £40 or so: https://www.thomann.de/gb/stagg_svedb_electric_upright_stand.htm; so I think this is a fair price for the lot. It's not in perfect condition, but I'd give it 9 out of 10 (I've tried to show where there are a couple of marks) and personally, I wish it hadn't got a white saddle cover and tuning pegs, but I reckon that would be easy to fix. The stand is incredibly robust and really looks after the instrument well. I couldn't tell you what the strings are, probably Stagg's own, but the the tone is great through my Ashdown rig (which I'm also selling - see Amps and Cabs) and quite impressive even unamplified; so I'm quite sad to have to let this go, but I really have to make some space in my tiny studio/office and I can't justify keeping it. I'm open to sensible offers or trades (guitars, pedals, cash adjustments). Socially distanced collection possible (as I write, but further U-turns no doubt on the horizon 😕). I'm happy to courier it at buyer's cost, which would be between £25 and £40 in the UK depending on courier and service required. I've got a couple of instructional books, which I'd be happy to throw in if the full price is met. So there you have it - thanks for reading this. Pete
  22. This is slightly confusing. The cab looks exactly like the RM-210T Evo II, but it's not marked as Evo on the backplate (see pix), and it's completely different from the (discontinued) RM-210T shown on the Ashdown website. I bought it for £160 in May from eBay, complete with its blue-piped Roqsolid cover, which looks very smart indeed! However, as I've explained elsewhere (see my listing for an Ashdown combo), I urgently need to clear some space, so this has to go. It's been used only for practice and has never left home. It's rated at 350W and handled the 300W combo with ease. Fortunately, we're sufficiently isolated from the neighbours, so I've been able to test the power, though not very often, tbh. Weight is 15.5Kg, so chunky but easily manageable one-handed. Collection kind of depends on prevailing lockdown rules, but it's only about £7 for delivery anywhere in the UK. If you're interested in the combo too - it's a MAG C-110 250 300-watter - I could certainly come up with a discount price. I'm also happy to hear suggestions for trades, with cash going either way as appropriate (especially for interesting boutique pedals). Oh, and I can throw in a Neutrik Speakon to right-angle jack cable to sweeten the deal. Thanks for looking. Pete
