  1. Seems like I have been doing everything but the... music and instrument parts. I transcribed this for a coming gig. Some smaller details are washed away, but the structure is there. Stayin' alive bass.pdf

    changing specs

The project continues. I bought few taps and made this today. I need to shape it, and the line can be seen in the face. The big hole in the middle is for the truss rod. (I should have had this and the bridge ready by August, but the anodizing company was away, and the project halted. Well, for few other reasons, too.)
  3. The power needed for the fx seems to be on the lower side: 330 mA is not so much. The next step is to try to exclude one fx at a time from the group and the power. Is the Little bear in the 500 mA line? I have a Valeton looper which does not want to work if certain other pedals are in line - even with their own PSUs.
  4. What's the headroom of the Nordel? How much do the fx consume / pedal, or in total? Nordel should be more powerful than the fx pedals. If there's any pedal with center positive, you may face complicated issues.
  5. Dear @White Cloud, what's your 5-string? As they are rare, I am always interested to see/hear about them.
  6. First question: how do you measure this half volume? From the pot position? Amp manufacturer/designer can use parts that give you 90 % of the headroom, when the pot is pointing to 10 o'clock, or 3 o'clock, or whatever. The same applies to eq. Another thing: The amount of power you address to the cab is also dependent on the data you are pushing from your bass. I expect that the peak and RMS content of your signal are very different. People hardly drive the amp with continuous sine.
  7. I have to say that the resale value is the least interesting thing for me. I buy instruments as tools. A good one is a keeper, poor one can go. If a 4005 is only meant for collections, it does not have to be good at all, just one more look-a-like.
  8. The user interface. Billy Joel is the piano man. Next, please.
  9. EMG numbering is the width of the pickup: 35 = 3.5", 40 = 4"... and letters tell about the structure: DC = double coil, P = P...
  10. I think you could tell us about features, like: - connectors - strain relief - connection - cable cover material (+ colours in the stage) - about copper - length - velcro - coiling - frequency response - losses Did I miss something, you will add the rest.
  11. Misa made TriBass: it is far from bass, maybe something like a bass oriented controller. But quick.
  12. A simple test is to try one page in a phone, a tab/pad, and an A4. If you need a bigger screen, buy one. Small phone is a mess. I use a +10" android and good eyeglasses. The tab is a bit over a metre from me. Less brightness is good for me on dark stages.
  13. Please @lukebassbs, tell us how your amps have failed you. That might interest us.
  14. If some fenderesque bass is what you are after, a minute ago there were 16 basses out of 23 (which is 2/3) in the first page of the Sales section closely related to Fender: F of course, Squier, Sire, Lakland, Sadowsky... Just pick the price range.
  15. I am sorry, what is the actual question? Apparently it has something to do with the truss rod.
  16. "No video with supported format and MIME type found."
  17. Yes, sorry my limited expression. How is it solved in the PCBA? Some extra components, maybe?
  18. What's the change between v1 and v2 on the T-16? Anyone has any hint?
  19. Dear @Hellzero, In the 80's Passion had a Schaller, and Arpège a special bridge. This beauty has Kahler that became available in the 90's. After the series II (or 5- and 6-string basses), CF was no more an option, and 90/10 was introduced. Bolt-on came after neck-through versions, although I do not recall the year. After 1995 anyway!
  20. Vigier has the pages where you can check the manufacturing date. Now there are 5 instruments made with serial 047. Two of them are Arpège: 047, Basse Arpège - Manche carbone et 90/10 - 15/11/1986 047, Basse Arpège - 5 cordes - 16/10/1995 The design, the hardware, and the logo drive my understanding towards this latter, 5 string bass. As 5 string Vigiers are really rare, I do not see any reason that this would affect the value of this beautiful instrument at all. Just an observation.
  21. Wider neck. 17.5 was too tight for me. Practically I have left slapping to the 90's. I should concentrate on playing less i.e. the right notes only.
  22. One of the many proud owners of his creations, I am more than happy to hear he is back.
  23. 1) Listen. 2) Read. 3) Transcribe. This is the most common way of learning to play something you have not played before. Even pretty complex sounding sentences can actually be pretty easy. 1) Try to find the bass from the mix and imitate the playing. 2) Go to a library, or study the stuff our dear fellow bassists have transcribed. There's tons of music. And it is free! 3) After you have learned to read, the ultimate step is to learn to write. Your computer background sure helps to learn this language of music. Try Musescore: you can write and listen to what you write. I know you can do it.
  24. There was a rumour in the 90's that Marcus Miller changed his strings after every 3 hours of playing in the studio.
  25. Start from new stainless steel strings, 30/50/70/90. Years ago Mark King said that he turns everything to full from his bass and that's his sound. Try these in the first phase.
