  1. I saw a brand new red 5-string Vigier Passion II in a shop (this was early nineties). Ran home, sold my piano, came back just few days later - and that red bass was sold! I then decided to buy a 5-string MG Quantum SPi Custom. I never liked it so much, but played it a lot. Now I have a red Passion II, although it is a 4-string.
  2. I bought it here from our honourable @graham1945. The 19 mm string spacing of the 35" neck was the thing, this is a very playable and stable instrument. I also like the sound of bartolini pickups very much.
  3. The biggest difference is most probably the changes in signal levels. Study the amp's manual.
  4. Power will be spread to the cabinets the way the impedance behaves (impedance is not constant). Also the frequency response may be strange. But the best way to understand the behaviour is to test the set.
  5. If you go back in MM's history, I would say that your instrument should be called Subre.
  6. @Woodinblack had the best solution. I would continue with a similar modification to the speakers, too. Speakon is much more reliable solution than a plug. Before using the modified set, and while the units are open, I would check all connections from the head to the speakers with the cables connected. DMM with beeper is a valuable tool.
  7. If you cannot lock the cables to that Y-splitter + inputs + output, I see a transformer failure in the near future. Will cost a lot. I hate 1/4" plugs in tube (valve) world. Speakon is a secure option.
  8. Could also be a PPD, pink P day. I think we could figure it out in this company. (No dots, no!)
  9. MTD means Michael Tobias Design, and my MG Genesis is actually designed by M. Tobias (that rightmost 5-string). I think this fits here, some similarities to current models may be seen.
  10. Check these areas with care while moving the connector. Good light helps.
  11. For me the power connector solderings looks bad. Try to move it, and look at the surface where solder meets the board. Are they broken?
  12. Slightly steep price 289 €, but looks good, most likely sounds, too.
  13. A torque wrench helps with adjustments.
  14. Doesn't it feel good to be popular? Slow down sir, I'm not able to listen the songs at the speed you push them out!
  15. Lane Poor Minima Stambaugh
  16. In short: Chickenbackers.
  17. Last summer I saw a garage sales. There was this pearl white Charvel. Beaten, 3 strings, dirty. If I was into 80's hair metal, that would have been it: cleaning, new strings, and lots of playing. The price was something like under £100, but it wasn't for me. Some 15 years ago I saw a pearl white (what?) Ibanez that was also beaten and dirty, but as I do not like white colour (although the fretboard was rosewood), I left it to the shop. £120 or so. Both would have been good instruments with some care (cleaning, setup, strings). Try to find one now, doable, but the prices are crazy.
  18. Do that blind test with similar strings and come back to tell us your findings.
  19. Fenders are from the 50's, and that was long ago. I don't think you have lost anything.
  20. This is an old tune, but the interpretation is kool.
  21. Let me guess, something is wrong here. One rare bass, by the way.
  22. This was on sale here a while ago, wasn't it. Olive top?
  23. 15 strings could mean a harp bass. No frets, no fretboard at all.
