1. let the engineer sort it out. Any bass guitar, can be recordable. That vid is snake oil. If the listener cares about instrument construction, then they have little, or no regard for the music.
 2.
That just about sums it up for me. Indeed, it's not just simple tone controls but can be full-on graphic equalisers and a whole bunch effects pedals, never mind harmonically-rich valve amps. That's not to say that a bit of wood might not make some difference, in some way, in some part of the audio spectrum, but my guess is that it'll be so slight that no one could ever tell (unless it was brought to the fore by using high-grade oxygen-free uni-directional unobtainium instrument leads of course ).
Well said.
 3. Their mummies still love them, even though they are being naughty. All is well.
 4. They are the "Disney Lite" of hardcore.

 8.
This is the only Ruby 4003 Ric i've ever seen. I was going to get a Midnight Blue 4003, but then this Ruby was received in.
Hi gsgbass, as always, impeccable taste.
 9.
I'd ask what he feels about US healthcare - you'd have to assume he was a pretty successful musician but the system is so poor that he can't get/afford decent healthcare and is really not at all well
Brilliant. Well said.
 10. Kidderminster Market Tavern, cow sh*t all over the floor. Set the PA on fire.
 11.
Single cut basses are nothing new. This Les Paul Triumph Bass dates from 1971 and was a development of the Les Paul Bass which first appeared in 1969!
Single cut as in the same way as a guitar body has a single cut. This is clearly an after thought on Gibson's part, to produce a bass that appeals to Les Paul fans. Modern single cut basses tend to have the upper bout join at the octave position, for neck rigidity. Most of them are ugly.
 12.
No it's not, it's a response to countless numbers of fans who think the original version of the album sounded terrible. How does" integrity" come into it anyway; are they meant to give away everything they do for nothing? Do you work for free? Nobody is being forced to buy it. Plenty of people, myself included, who think "Vapour Trails" was a great collection of songs ruined by terrible mixing/mastering/whatever will now be able to buy a sonically superior copy should they so choose.
In that case, they should remix everything that didn't have Terry Brown behind the desk.
 13.
Having owned a DB680, I can say that in all seriousness, it is among the very best pres ever designed/built for bass. Staggering. Though I tried, I never managed to pair mine with a 728. I can only imagine that the tone is outrageous. I'm tempted, but wow, the weight. If you can afford it and carry it, I would say that you can't go wrong. We see some fantastic rigs go through these pages but the 680/728 has to be getting towards the peerless end of the spectrum. Also, MrBassman is an outstanding pillar of our community - deal in confidence
Indeed. I own a DB680, playing through it now. Jah Wobble lines. I'd love to try the 728. I use mine with a QSC PLX 3102. Will you split?
 14. K West was shockingly bad. I have no idea where his train of thought was coming from. He mentioned being, "In D Club", drinking "Crystal" and after the shoe-shine singer, (Gap Band) did his thing, I wanted to punch myself in the Face. Vulgar, disgusting, absolute dregs.

 21. Pino now uses Fender. Ashdown make great reliable amps. Whether the sound is for you, is another matter.
 22.
Steve, if you ever feel the need to sell then be sure to let me know! I seem to recall that you live fairly close to Liverpool?
Will do, buddy.
