1. Anybody travelling from Cardiff to the Wirral in the near future? Seriously! Will you pack and post?
2. Mexican Fender, or hand built Scotish excellence. Ermmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
3.
http://www.musicradar.com/news/bass/musikm...k-roster-414896 Lovely looking bass too, quite a departure from some of the more recent signature basses they've done, plus I think it's good for Warwick to diversify a little artist-wise too. Eude
What a f***ing mess of a bass.
4. Because they are copies after the fact. Facsimilies, if you will.
5. They are definitely basing this product at the yoof market.
6. Bought a lovely Boss TU2 from Al. Good price, well packed, perfect.
7.
Both excellent pedals. And that Echo Park is a STEAL at that price. If I didn't already own both I'd buy 'em
God bless you.
8.
It's when I see a guy that can blatantly hardly play and not that interested in bass making a living as a bass player that I get pretty fed up. Feels like I've spent years learning my craft and my instrument for nothing. Shoulda spent more on haircuts and practicing tickling a (inevitably) Spector with a plectrum while staring at boobs.
Gene Simmons?
9. Hey guys, that truss rod cover means it's the real deal. (cough).
10. Just checking to see how many Steve Bailey cds I have, hang on a sec................................................................................................. .................................................................................................... . .................................................................................................... . ............................................, oh, none!
11. Bump, bump, bump, bump, squelch.
12.
Back in late 60s Oscar Peterson had a show on Saturdays on BBC2 IIRC. Just a half hour thing, but even then at 15 or so I was smitten.
Thank you so much. I really couldn't work out how I was able to listen to Oscar on the telly as a little bastard but I remember watching this with my dad. It must have been repeated in the early 70's. I really liked George Melly as a kid. He use to be on Grananda Tele a lot in the 70's and when I went to see him he was amazing.
13. The undercoat used for the body will have filled the grain of the wood somewhat, so a LOT of sanding will be needed to remove all traces. I say don't bother.
14. In a word, nice. I'll make her nicer for you.
15. Bassworld, then Basstalk, as I recall.
16.
Any decisions regarding the placing of a solo in a performance need to be made intelligently and musically. Where does it sit in an arrangement and why? Often, in Jazz, decisions about solo space are made because of habit and solos just get passed around without thought or purpose (noone has any reason to solo, they just do). If the decision to solo is made with purpose and the player understands that purpose, then there is every chance that the solo will have some sort of internal integrity. If its just another in a long line of 'habitual' solos, it will probably sound like it.
The point of soloing is like sitting around a fire with the members in your village. Up until the solo spot, everyone is jiving and cross talking, then someone gets the calling to tell the others how they think things are, could be, should be and everyone takes notice.

18. Errrrrr, recently listened to Ornette, The Shape of Jazz To Come, Art Blakey and lots of Mingus on vinyl from 50 years ago. The bass is fine.
19.
It's not 'sacrilege' to dislike a bass solo, I'm sure there's just as strong a contingency of people on this site that would agree with you. But jazz is about freeform and expression, and there have been some serious theoretical and technical jumps from people like Paul Chambers, Ron Carter and Charles Mingus who have been able to push the envelope with their formidable soloing skills. It's up to you what you like hearing from music though, what you're stating is purely your opinion, some might agree, and I'm sure some others won't.
Excellent post, Pete.
20.
Bilbo??????
Allow me. Art is expression. Those who follow art and expression, will work out what they like and don't like.
21.
your Eminence. i kiss your ring-mod.
I spit on your ring mod and ease the finger of modulation into your open eye.
22.
Hmmm.. Can she read?
Probably. Oh, you mean can she read music? Well, I really don't know. She sure has played a lot of gigs and has a lot of people who love her music, not to mention all her videos and everything. I bet you can read music. By the way, I can't stand her music.
