1. Microwaves from the big bang.
2. To add to Steve's post, if you buy a piece of gear at a price you don't like, then more fool you. There will be many members who will help to guide you to a fair price.
3. Sold, to me. Thanks very much Sydenham. Only kiddin Wayne. You won't regret this.
4. Let it go my son, let it go.
5.
Had the 2x12 cab. Freakin awesome bit of kit! Now in the hands of SteveSoar, who said it was the best 2x12 he'd heard. So pretty good methinks!
He did, I do, it is. Makes your eyeballs rattle.
6. I doubt it's a Fender.
7. Like Dan says, utter crap that the first 12 frets would be "raised" Do not pay £70 for a fretstone that won't happen.
8.
I had one of those Neutrik leads with the pop out bit to silence the cable. Great idea, but only lasted about 3 months & had to take the red pop out jack off & put a normal one on I'd get a cheap crappy combo for the bass holders.
Same here, lasted a few weeks.
9.
Hakim was astonishing with Weather Report. Catch this duel with Joe Zawinul!!! Omar Hakim
That was like two supercolliders talking to each other.
10.
THAT'S a fair point. He was really the life and soul of what Joy Division was all about, but then New Order happened, so maybe it's fair to say that New Order might not have happened if it wasn't for Ian Curtis, but then maybe it's not. Frankly I'm not too sure I care now after talking about it for so bloody long
Hands up, who's stayed the night in the room where Ian Curtis hanged himself?
11.
At the risk of turning this into some pseud-y argument over what is art, surely a good musician is someone who creates music that has the power to move you or stir some form of emotion. Joy Division did that (and still do) and Hooky was instrumental in that sound and the emotions they conveyed. Even the naysayers would (in many cases at least) have to agree that Hooky created some memorable bass lines - just listen to the clip of 24 hours I posted and tell me that is not a wonderful and original bass line that is central to a deeply moving song.
Clarky, you speak the truth. Joy Division and New Order are totally unique. They have a style and sense of purpose that is roots based, chaotic, blase, industrial, post modern, arty, hedonistic... but it reflects the common man, non elitist. They were post punk, were anything was possible. Hooky is a hero of the bass and has launched 1000's of imitators.
12. Here is one of my heros, from the band Devo. Listen to him.
13. Invest in some lessons. Theory is not to be feared and a good teacher will give you so many "ah, the penny has just dropped" moments.
14.
He's always had an interesting sound and approach to the instrument, and I don't feel very well equipped to criticise his playing when he was in Joy Division and New Order and I wasn't. Sure he's not a virtuoso but I don't think he's ever claimed to be.
Nice to see you back, my son.
15. Yes.
16.
Also...
f*** yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
17. Get your money back my son.
18. I've been putting music to this for ages but it all ends up sounding like creepy Kate Bush, or The Revolting Cocks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YH2tw7QH2hc
19. Jah Wobble, er, what, er, Gov'ner
20. The outro to Genetix, nuff said.
21. Rare as snake boots bump, for a beautiful bass.

23.
Steve's just finished a particularly tricky pre-amp change on my Zoot for me - tricky because of the space available and a couple of additional switches I had put in which made life difficult (specifically the LED on the low battery indicator needing changing after it became detached!). No histrionics and no evasiveness, he simply phoned up and explained the situation and we postponed pick up a few days for him to sort it. I do like dealing with people who don't try and bulls**t you! The Zoot is now happily equipped with an ACG EQ02 pre-amp and, I have to say, the bass sounds simply stunning now! I think even Steve would admit it out-Stingray's his Stingray. And Steve also did a little extra screening that was needed when he had it stripped down. All in all a top guy who knows his stuuf and can be relied on 100%!
Thanks Mark. I think I heared bass tone Nirvana after plugging this bass in and I've listened to a few basses. Seymour Duncan Basslines Stingray pickup, powered by an ACG EQ02, series/paralell switching, added passive tone. It out trumped my 1980 Stingray for sheer poke and the Rotosound strings were superb. What a machine. What a well made bass too! Mark, you are a pleasure to do business with.
