Put a bucket under your chin to collect the saliva as I'm sure the enzymes contained will cut through all of the years worth of spadge.

Just looked at workshop tour, seems like these guys mean business. I remember the Gus boys from back when they started. I always fancied one but was app rihensive of the upcharge for a left hander.
Alpha-Dave, AFAIK all the Gus instruments have a Cedar core. Some of the more recent ones (in paticular the G1 10 guitar) have a carbon weave finish, but it's still a skin only. There's a workshop tour on the Gus site which explains his construction technique, plus more info in a recent article in recent Guitar and Bass Magazine where Simon explains the changes he's made to the production process since the site tour. Simon makes all the parts himself except for the machine heads, strap buttons, frets and electronc components. The bridge is a wonderful design and the vibrato one on the guitar is very smooth and stable. I've been interested in the instruments Simon produces as Gus Guitars since I saw pictures of his prototypes in the musical instrument mags in the mid to late 80s. I'm now fortunate enough to be the owner of three - this fretless, a 5-string fretted bass and a G1 vibrato guitar. I like my instruments to be visually impactful as well as playing and sounding great, that's why I'm also GASing for a Basslab, and a Spalt Hybrid as well as looking for the opportunity to try out some of the more weird and wonderful basses and guitars that I've seen on various luthiers' web sites. steve-soar, glad you like it! Can't have enough of the shiny! Have I tempted you into ordering for one yourself though?
A bit too rich for my blood, at 3k.

Active Pickups/Control Replacement for P-Bass
steve-soar replied to Mr Cougar's topic in Bass Guitars
What? a bit weak? Mine sounds very strong. However, it sounds NOTHING like a good Precision pup in the way that there are all of those lovely overtones and bark, it's louder and has more bass. I'd strongly suggest a rewind as I have now come to realise I personally prefer the sound of passives in a Precision. -
New Luthiers wanting feedback on their first bass!

Cameo "Word Up", Prince "Alphabet Street"

I hope they do let Pete Banks play, as the first 2 albums, especially Time and a Word are beautiful.
-
Ah, I see. John must lay the batteries flat. Doh!

That cocobolo almost made me weep, it's that beautiful. I think the next ACG may have a nice bit of that

TOTALLY MY CUP OF TEA WITH 20 SUGARS
-
Mine is very old now, the chassis says 1999 but the circuit boards have 1997 on them. No issues WHATSOEVER. (TOUCH WOOD)

So did Trace back in the 80's. Lord knows how much that must have weighed I've only heared Nemesis gear with that totally AMAZING lad who plays but has only the one arm, I can't think of his name at the mo. It sounded well and truely rumbustious.

Something came in the mail today. (I destroyed a Hardcase)
steve-soar replied to Shockwave's topic in Bass Guitars
So this morning i wake up to see that UPS delivered a huge package today at the shop. I bring it back upstairs. Open up the box and in it is a huge hardcase. I try to get into the hardcase..... Its pretty hard to get into. There were no keys! I managed to break into one of the locks by using a paper clip, but the other being really stubburn. So i had to use a flathead screwdriver and break my way in, Not before i emailed Sebastard wondering why he hadnt sent the keys. (turns out it wasent a key system, But i had to line somethings up.) So anyway. I put the bass together, BC-Rich NOS USA Ironbird bass. Adjusted the Sky high action, And it plays and sound great. Though i think the wiring when both the pickups are on isent quite correct (Huge volume and bass loss) I will be sorting that out tommorow. I will be getting lightweight tuners and a real grippy strap, Maybe a strap pin reposition, Some DR Blacks Strings. Plus i will be sending the case to my case maker to get new (And better locks) Fitted to it, you wouldnt believe how easy it was to break the lock. So, After making a fool of myself and breaking into hardcases, I have a wonderful NOS (Never been played apart from in a shop and by seb for a few hours, NO FRETWEAR) USA Ironbird bass. One i have been after since i first started playing 4 years ago. I would like to thank Seb for his hard graft at fixing the neck pocket and sending it out here. And Lorne for all his "Wonderful" Advice ;-). PS, I dont think i will be respraying it Pink, its too damn sexy in black. Maybe when i get a Cheaper NJ model The pickups so far sound great, So i am undecided about Emgs as of yet.
Love it. What a bass! BTW, who lives in the cage in that room? Cheers Steve -
That Carlo looks like a Kingbass!

Alan doesn't see the need for big bodies so I imagine it will be quite a suprise to see how compact it will be.

Is that 36 or 18v ? Love the angled top.
I've been using DR sunbeams for over a year now had some black beauties a few sets of strings before from my memory I really liked them and the longest lasting strings I have owend. I tried and bought a set of elixirs a month or so ago I wasn't impressed with the sound what so ever went straight back to the DR's. Got to get around to trying some Lo-Riders, and Im putting blue peacock coated on my fretless when its finished.
SEXAY ! Been using DR Hi Beams over the summer and have found the even response and projection on all positions to be addictive. Red strings on the ACG, mmmmmmmm
Unlikely to proceed with another build for this neck, so here we have a 2 + 2 headstocked Moses graphite bass neck. 22 frets, Headstock takes GB7 tuners. Fits Fender neck pockets. has drill holes in headstock for tuners. comes with bolts. the heel has threaded inserts. neck has side dots and no face dots. Has a truss rod, with adjustment at heel end. Matt black as is typical of Moses. (no large weave or diamond weave pattern visible.) Has moses logo, and a string retainer. Mounted item for a while on a Warmoth body, where I have normally have another Moses neck (a 21 fret Lefty Jazz) on for the extra fret, which I don't really need that much so.... £140 or nearest off, secures, payment via paypal. + postage open to sensible offers. PM me if interested.
Hi , where abouts are you ? I've seen your profile on Arnies site, as I am a fellow lefty. Will this neck fit a precision? Cheers Steve.
