1. 1984. Ibanez Blazer, natural, black scratch plate, Precision a like. £99, played it through a Trace stack in the music shop, Fusion Music Birkenhead, so it sounded amazing, got it home, plugged it into my hi fi and blew the speakers. I was 18 and didn't now any better. Had to buy new tweeters for my Wharfdale Diamonds. Stranglers and Level 42 basslines, happy days.
2. I'm in Birkenhead/Liverpool will keep eyes open in Cash Converters, places like that. Probably smack rats. Do you have the serial numbers, photo's, stuff like that? Good luck, Steve.
3. Thanks for reminding me Kev.
4. Oh Yeah. Double bass.
5. I've just bought a Hartke HA 7000 amp. It's in prestine condition, sounds brilliant, works perfectly but the fan is way too loud. Would I be able to change it for a quieter one? Has anyone else done this to their Hartke amp? Is it do able and if so how and with what replacement? Any info or help would be great. Cheers Steve.
6. Here's mine. I am using the Ashdown and the Hartke with a feed to each from the GT6B. Need to tweek the EQ's but as it is it does sound brilliant.
7.
I have no intension to make this forum a worse place for anyone and I genuinely apologise to anyone who feels this is the case. I appreciate that my sense of humour is totally warped, and I have some off the wall views, but I'm yet to kill anyone. I think it doesn't help that I refuse to put smilies in any of my less serious posts (they're in league with Jazz) so people probably don't know if I'm joking or not. As a rule, if you read something from me, its probably not 100% serious so chill out. Its interesting to see though the number of people who will post on a thread to say "i don't agree with this thread" thus bumping it up. Surely, if you don't like the banter, its best not to even bother reading it, let alone post? By reading this I realise that a few people are a bit p*ssed off with the types of posts going up at the moment. Again, I apologise if anyone is offended, but i think you need to put it in perspective to some degree. I'm not that bad. Why don't we all just get naked and have a little wrestle?
Me think you do protesteth too much. BTW did your warpped sense of humour result in your avatar?
8.
Ok, as we are talking cock up'ss here is an old story of mine. I ordered a headless bass from MusicYo a few years ago. It didnt arrive on time so i emailed them a few times that day and they insisted it had been delivered and signed for. They emailed me a scan of the signature and not only wasnt it my name it was signed for in Manchester, im in London (and that was the delivery address). I was fuming so they said they would refund me the cost of postage and get it picked up the next day and sent to me. nothing arrived the next day so i got on to them and this time they said they would refund me the whole cost of the bass and send another one out. Now thats was fantastic news. i got a bass for nothing and only had to wait three extra days. It gets better though as two weeks latter the original one turned up. so two free Steinberger 5 strings. sorry to hear about all your problems though.
Did you return extra monies/bass?
9. Not really robotic, all done with guitars, bass and drums, some would say ahead of their time! Thought you were called Loop, as the T shirt didn't say, "The Loop"
10. Just clocked your T shirt, went to see Loop about 17 years ago supporting Blur at Liverpool Poly. Is it the same band and are they still going? I thought they were the best support I'd seen for a long time, seeing as Blur were still indie gimps! I believe World Domination Enterprises were also supporting, maybe some assosiation with Food Records?
11. BLX use to stand for bollocks.
12. Peavey U.K. in the late eighties when I was using their gear and I was a wet behind the ears pup.
13. Stewart Mc are brill! Check ebay for straight edges, engieering bits and pieces and car feeler gauges for string action at nut on first fret. Action at 24th is totally trial and error.
14. Mmmmmmn, very strange, apparently a Mr Ken Bhutan of Switzerland owns this bass too. Check the Statii web site and look for "Show off your Statii's, Energy 5 string". Can anyone explain?
15. Look at 99ster's signature..... holy shet! That's some nice toy's sir.
16. Have you played the bass through your new rig? Hold on a moment. Take it easy. That bass looks amazing. Remember that the bass and amp are like the binoculers finding focus on the image that is your bass playing. your tone is in your fingers.
17. ACG, add number of strings, pickups, woods, electronics, laminations of neck, finish to choice.
18. In my experience you need to be able to hear your bass sitting in the mix of everything else, so you can groove to how the song changes. If you are playing big rooms, your monitor man is your best friend, if you are playing in small rooms, without P.A. support, you need to be able to lock-in with the drummer and keep a close eye on your front person. I've only experienced that "Magical Stage Sound" a handful of times but when it happens it makes your job of playing almost effortless. So to sum up, turning down is the new turning up.
19. Down in the Sewer, The Stranglers, or maybe Toiler on the sea. JJ Burnel f*ckin Rools!!!!!!!
20. Agreed.
21. that makes two!
22. The top looks like the back of a Scotch pancake, and for that reason have a lefty bump.
