1. Here is a young bassist who needs advice and the last three posts are confusing, sarcastic and then less sarcastic.
2. P.S., I put a Badass on it too. Great upgrade, as the original bridge saddles slid from side to side.
3. Brilliant response, "I will go with the 4x10" 4 ohm I hope? I had a break from playing live for a couple of years before getting another amp, ABM C115 combo, 1x15. Took it to an audition and it sounded great. Took it to a rehearsal with a different band and couldn't hear a thing. At the audition, I had it on a case, slightly to the corner of the room and the people in the pub below complained about the bass being too loud. Getting a good sound with small cabs is all about canny eq ing and placement of cab. But then, you all know that anyway.
4. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1975-FENDER-JAZZ-BAS...truments_Guitar Do they have a corresponding serial number engraved to the bottom of the plate....er, no. Is this Pimp being a cheeky bastard....er, yes.
5.
MB1. .....A lots changed since his Golfing Days!...
I remember seeing him get a hole in one when I was about 4 or 5. I don't like his blonde hi-lites though, makes him look like the bloke out of Blue Murder.
6. Star Child inlays would be perfect and I know what you mean about refinishing, I'd want it perfect too. How long will the work take do you think?
7. I really like the new tail pieces, can you say what the extra 2 toggle switches are for?
8. Hi Kev, that's a beauty. I really, really like the finish and especially the inlays, they make the bass a touch diffferent. What's the weight like and is the neck ok? Well done for getting such a lovely bass. Now all I need is my old one back and then I've got all the basses I'll ever need.
9.
I love you and everything about you. Ta!
Awwww.
10. Great collection, love the CIJ Jazz.
11. I had the Mark VI version and toured it to death. Amazingly rugged and versatile piece of kit. They don't make 'em like this no more.
12. To my ears, he plays the bass line like a harmony vocal part in some places.
13. Why oh why do I look at this thread, when all it does is mess with my head?
14. That is a very fine looking bass. Great price too. Good luck.
15. Make it your own and have some fun. I'd love to see you, where are you going to be playing?
16. I've got the non-Germanium model and it's so good. I love the way the distortion completely disintergrates as the note strength dies. Great pedals and this is nearly £100 cheaper. Nice.
17. I bought one from Japan last year, S/H, 1999 year. Completely stock sounded lovely but no tonal variation, so I put some EMG's and a J Retro and it is now an insanely good sounding and playing bass. I've had the same D'Addario Pro Steels on for nearly a year, yummy! May try some Hi Beams, or D'Ad nickles I've got in the string store, from when the dollar was poor.
18. Christ on a bike, what a bargain. Where are you, I'm in Birkenhead. PMed. Tried ringing you too but you must be out.
19.
I actually believe that a good sound is the secret to a good groove. If you just play all the right notes in all the right places, it will probably still not groove. If you do that AND have a great sound, the pocket is yours and the music comes alive.
Correctamundo.
20. Get some gaffer tape on it, ya big jessie. Or get some "Kitty Mitts"
21. Yes, there's one on Ebay in the basses for sale section. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BASS-GUITAR-BRIDGE_W...sh=item28034035 There you go.
22. I'll take two. http://cgi.ebay.com/Dumble-Overdrive-Speci...meZWDVWQQrdZ1QQ
23.
Just finished the headstock. This should really be in build diary thread but it's a bit late now.
Maybe the repairs and tech thread. I sprayed my Ibanez Blazer sea foam green, when I was 18. All I remember is, I loved the smell of the paint.
24. He's still one of the greatest bass guitarists on the planet. Chaka Khan, Chaka Khan, Chaka khan Let me rock you ....... I know it was Prince Before you flay me but "Ain't Nobody", come on?
25.
Selling a 5-string bass I put together from parts that simply fell into my lap. Solid alder body, Fender Mex neck, (carrying the original Gotoh tuners), Bartolini 59J1 pickups, Schaller 3D-5 bridge, mint green guard and a finish which just looks black in ordinary light but does actually contain flakey bits visible in strong light e.g. sunlight (we will get another 10 mins. of this before the end of August) Asking price is £250 including delivery, and at £225 I would be prepared to deliver free of charge within a radius of 100 metres from my front door.
Nice bass, VERY nice.
