  1. I’m probably stating the obvious but has it been made the opposite way round Rob
  2. Thinking about it I could probably take the A ,D and G string off and still be ok 😁
  3. You just have to have a bit of Dennis Brown now and again , originally out around 1977
  4. I don’t know a lot of their stuff and what I have liked has been because of the bass, but really enjoyed listening to this, especially the second track, wonderful Bassline and playing
  5. Looks really great jezza, nice find, congrats
  6. Ive got one jazz strung permanently like that, I like that tuning
  7. I was going through quite a few tunes by Hopeton James last night who passed away just before Christmas, he was big in the 80s and had such a wonderful voice, and I found this song which I’d forgotten about, it’s the moonlight lover riddim which is up there with my favourites, here’s a few to enjoy And the original And my favourite which is Barrington Levy from the Shaolin Temple album, which is one of his best imo, worth a listen if you haven’t already heard it, Flabba on bass on this
  8. That great, wonderful album miles , i never tire of listening to that one and I bought it in 1978 when I was still in school 😁
  9. Great question and not an easy one, there’s so many but 2 that spring to mind are, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner-Black Uhuru, Robbie Shakespeare at his best I’d say, And rather than pick one particular album I’ll say Legend , which is a compilation album by Bob Marley and the Wailers, every bassline by Aston Barrett was just perfect
  10. Looks really great, congrats
  11. Ive got just the right suit to match if you wanted to borrow it 😁
  12. Pretty funky, but not a colour I think I’d keep
  13. Such a great Bassline on that
  14. Absolutely Piers, the way the bassline comes in on natural mystic is so good, when the film first came out miss reggae wanted to see it, but i wasn’t too bothered thinking it wouldn’t be very good, but I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed it, very well produced and lots of attention to details
  15. Nice one miles, the tracks on kaya are just brilliant, Running Away and Easy Skanking are my favourites, running away seems easy to play at first but it really isn’t, Aston’s timing is amazing, have you got Exodus album, from what I can remember that was the first Marley album I bought, learnt the basslines on a cassette player 😂
  16. Yeah I’d wait a while too, especially in this weather, best to be safe
  17. Ive always liked the sound/tone of the original Bassline in that song, I’ve got it written down somewhere on my list to learn but haven’t got around to it yet, I didn’t know it was played on a fretless, perhaps that’s why it stands out, I would have guessed something like a stingray
  18. I like this one
  19. Can’t say it’s the right book but it could be from either of these, maybe, Essential Music Theory for Electric Bass- Mel bay, or Music Theory for the Bass Player-Ariane Cap
  20. Welcome Nathan
  21. Really like that, you don’t see many precisions with matching headstock
  22. Pretty close to one of my dream basses is for sale at the moment with ATB guitars, even though it’s reduced its still a bit pricey for me
  23. Hi marc, looks like these do one , Harley Benton Notched Straightedge Bass
