1.
I still love and want this beast!!!
Yup - me too! The 'dream cab' for so long..
2.
Also played there in 1981, and even rehearsed there for 2 days.
That's very cool!
3. I loved that venue, I've got to say and saw some great shows there. I even was lucky enough to play there in 1980, first on the bill of a special gig headlined by The Stranglers when Hugh Cornwall was in prison and they had loads of guest performers covering his vocal duties. Highlight of the evening though, apart from the after show party, was Joy Division who went on third.. It was something very special!
4. Cheers John, and likewise! Yep - pages and pages of feedback that serve to prove I have no 'GAS' control centre in my brain !
5. Just received a lovely old Washburn acoustic in the post from John. As many of you know, he's a real gent to deal with and the whole deal was perfect from start to finish! Got to say, the guitar was expertly packaged up and it plays and sounds brilliant! Thanks John - just hope I can do it justice. Nik
6. Just had the pleasure of dealing with Adrian for the first time - bought his Hercules stand - and I'm sure it won't be the last.. As said above, a really good bloke to deal with and his packaging skills are second to none! ๐Ÿ˜€ Thanks Adrian, Nik
7. Just bought a speaker cable from Mark who's always easy and pleasant to deal with. Really knows his stuff too... Thanks Mark! ๐Ÿ˜Š
8.
Jealous?
No, it's a very genuine dislike of the whole Jamiroquai sound, their songs and JK's vocal stylings. It actually makes my skin crawl and toes curl up ( as the saying goes).. Lots of other artists I'd consider myself to be a little envious of though; either for their talent, success, seemingly wonderful life etc, but definitely not Jamiroquai.
9. Can't really understand why this is still here? Anyway, have a BUMP on me for a great cab!
10. Price drop BUMP - now ยฃ50 delivered...
11.
Not familiar with that song ๐Ÿ˜Š. I reckon you are being a bit harsh when there are bands like Wham around. I like a bit of Jamiroquai.
Not harsh, just how it is for me.. Everyone of their songs makes my teeth grate, just like the sound of fingernails being scraped down a blackboard! I had to play one of their songs called 'Love Foolosophy' at every gig the band I was in did for a period of about two years. It was the most unenjoyable experience I think I've ever had playing bass in a covers band! I know they're quite popular here on Basschat, and they have had some wonderful bass players in their line-ups, but their songs really are some of the worst I've ever heard.
12. Anything by Jamiroquai..
13. Great bass, great story! Saw John Giblin play with Kate Bush in 2014 at Hammersmith - he was unbelievably good.. Shouldn't say this, but compared to some of the 'vintage' basses being sold at certain establishments for crazy money -that don't have anywhere near the provenance that this bass has -. this an absolute steal at this price IMHO!! GLWTS
14. Beautiful looking bass! How does it sound?
15. Low-frequency generator type BUMP! ๐Ÿ˜Š
16.
Nik, I'll have that if you ever want to let it go!
No plans to sell it Mert, but if I do change my mind, then you'll be the first person I contact.. ๐Ÿ˜Š
17. Another big fan of older David Eden gear here. I had a Metro 210 combo with a 210 Eden XT cab and it was a fabulous set up. Right now, I have a 1999 Eden WT-400 Traveler Plus and it's a fantastic sounding amp! Not at all heavy either, so you get the best of both worlds. For 'straight out of the box' perfect bass tone, it's as good as it gets, but the equipment section on it is superb. Not tried any of the new Eden stuff, but I would imagine it's not quite in the same class.
18. I've owned the following 5 string basses in my time ( though there may be a few others I've forgotten): Tobias Classic 5 Musicman V Wal Custom 5 MTD Kingston Heir Fender Roscoe Beck V (had 4 of those) Lakeland DJ5 USA Fender Jazz 5 Standard Schecter Diamond P Custom 5 Andre Van der end JB KSD Proto J 5 Yamaha 1005 Yamaha TRB5 All of the were/are great in their own way.. More specifically, the Roscoe Beck's were the most versatile tonally, the most comfortable neck was the DJ5, and the Tobias was the most funky sounding Bizzarely, the Wal was the one I liked least. Of them all, the best value was/is the Schecter which is astonishingly good for the money. And the Andre Van der end JB5 is by far and away the most versatile and enjoyable to play. There's many others I'd like to try and own; Pedulla, Celinder, Alembic for starters, but they'll have to wait until my next lifetime! ๐Ÿ˜Š
19. Just sold an SWR Triad to Hans, aka bassbloke. Excellent comms throughout and fast payment, so all good from start to finish. More than that though, it was a pleasure to sell the cab to Hans because I'd bought a Tech head from him via eBay 2 years ago at what was a very low price (that's auctions for you), so this was a good way of making up for that. Anyway, I'm very happy to recommend Hans to one and all here on Basschat! Thanks Hans.. Hope you enjoy the cab. ๐Ÿ˜Š
