Another big fan of older David Eden gear here. I had a Metro 210 combo with a 210 Eden XT cab and it was a fabulous set up. Right now, I have a 1999 Eden WT-400 Traveler Plus and it's a fantastic sounding amp! Not at all heavy either, so you get the best of both worlds. For 'straight out of the box' perfect bass tone, it's as good as it gets, but the equipment section on it is superb. Not tried any of the new Eden stuff, but I would imagine it's not quite in the same class.

Best 5 string bass you've ever owned and why?
silverfoxnik replied to Al Krow's topic in Bass Guitars
I've owned the following 5 string basses in my time ( though there may be a few others I've forgotten): Tobias Classic 5 Musicman V Wal Custom 5 MTD Kingston Heir Fender Roscoe Beck V (had 4 of those) Lakeland DJ5 USA Fender Jazz 5 Standard Schecter Diamond P Custom 5 Andre Van der end JB KSD Proto J 5 Yamaha 1005 Yamaha TRB5 All of the were/are great in their own way.. More specifically, the Roscoe Beck's were the most versatile tonally, the most comfortable neck was the DJ5, and the Tobias was the most funky sounding Bizzarely, the Wal was the one I liked least. Of them all, the best value was/is the Schecter which is astonishingly good for the money. And the Andre Van der end JB5 is by far and away the most versatile and enjoyable to play. There's many others I'd like to try and own; Pedulla, Celinder, Alembic for starters, but they'll have to wait until my next lifetime! 😊 -

Just sold an SWR Triad to Hans, aka bassbloke. Excellent comms throughout and fast payment, so all good from start to finish. More than that though, it was a pleasure to sell the cab to Hans because I'd bought a Tech head from him via eBay 2 years ago at what was a very low price (that's auctions for you), so this was a good way of making up for that. Anyway, I'm very happy to recommend Hans to one and all here on Basschat! Thanks Hans.. Hope you enjoy the cab. 😊

Just bought a TechAmp 115 cab from Gareth. Apart from the cab being really good - exactly as he described it (and more in fact), it's always a pleasure dealing with Gareth because he really knows his stuff when it comes to basses and bass gear and you can count on the fact that the gear he's selling has always been really well looked after! Add to that his excellent comms, all-round friendly vibes and his long-standing reputation here on Basschat as one of the 'good guys'; trust me when I say that dealing with Gareth is always a positive experience. And to paraphrase him, he's a Basschat legend and highly recommended! What more could you ask for? Thanks Gareth! 😊
I always take two basses to a gig. Both are tuned up and ready to go. You never know if you may need a spare.
+1 Or sometimes, i need both a 4 string and a 5 string in a gig, depending on the set list.

Got to say as well, that this amp coupled with the SWR Triad that I'm selling, was my main gig rig for the last 5 or 6 years and although heavy to carry around, it sounded bloody marvellous in most of the local venues I played in. I took it to Germany last year for a festival and it was great there too..

Very true John! This amp has outperformed every other amp I've had over the last 12 years (bar the Ampeg V4BH I bought from The Beedster), including Eden, Markbass, TE, TechAmp and most recently, a Thunderfunk 550, which I know you rate very highly. It's also the most well made amp I've had too. If I wasn't moving house soon and didn't need the space, I'd probably keep this.

Bands you adore that no one else has ever heard of...
silverfoxnik replied to TrevorR's topic in General Discussion
Great thread this and good to see some love on here for The Monochrome Set and for Andy Warren, who I used to also enjoy watching as a player when he was in the early incarnation of Adam & The Ants, circa 1977. Pleasantly surprised also to see The God Machine mentioned, whom my ex-wife used to manage back in the early 90s. Our son Jimmy is named after their bass player, Jimmy Fernandez who sadly died of a brain hemorrhage, which brought the band's career to a stop far too soon! These days my musical tastes have mellowed somewhat, and one band I absolutely love are The Mummers. If you like Bacharach, Carole King, Scott Walker, Todd Rundgren etc, then you should like this band.
