1.
Sorry not mine, but thought i would share....Amazing..IMHO..Its a Skjold Lions pride Jazz...
Wow! That is different...
  2.
Oh crap why did I come in here & see this. Was planning on a SR in the future! Your profile says you're based in Littlehampton, are you over more that way any time soon? I actually live in Worthing.
I'm in Littlehampton but the bass belongs to our guitarist Tony, who lives in Woodingdean just outside of Brighton.. If you want to speak to him directly to sort something out, PM me your details and I'll pass them onto him.. Nice to hear of another West Sussex based Basschatter!
  3.
www.myspace.com/ourinnocencelost The album sampler is all done on the Valenti
Great bass! Like the band too.. Good luck with the sale....
  4.
However every sale, bid, offer, declined offer has been with lots of friendly chatter and everyone has been really courteous - something that cannot be said of a lot of Ebay transactions I've been through. I've made some real friends in the process as well. I find the whole for sale section works incredibly well, certainly better than any other forum based sale section that I've come across anyway!
+1 That sums up my view on this completely.. There isn't a 'system' in the world that's perfect, but the one here is pretty good and reflects the character of the Mods and most of the Basschatters who frequent the site; i.e. friendly, open, honest and generally full of good humour!
  5.
I bought this new in 1998. Used it for several years and it picked up a few knocks and dents along the way. I have basses for using not for show. Took it to Austin, Texas to make an album so it's flown in the cargo hold long hail. Had the nut replaced with a brass nut for extra zing. I tried various pick-ups in it but when sold it was back to standard. I thought the £600 I sold it for was very fair considering the condition and what I paid for it new. Oh and I sold it because I had completed and was very happy with the Status necked SR5 and couldn't justify having two of them. Here we are at Bognor Live 2002. It's a good one, go for it.
Thanks for that info OBBM; great photo btw!!
  6.
That's made me chuckle!
At the time, it made me NOT chuckle...
  7. Thanks for the replies. I'll check the age from Tony but i suspect the only to find out is via the Ernie Ball website or OBBM? The reason it's selling at this price is because that's what Tony has asked me to list it for... In fact, believe he bought it from OBBM for £600 so given that, it's not an unfair price I suppose. PM returned Russ..
  8. Hi Folks, This is a very nice SR5 that used to belong to OBBM until he sold it to the guitarist in our band Tony, who bought it for use in his studio. However, as his wife has decided they're going to have yet another holiday in Australia next February, he wants to raise some money for that.. So this in now up for sale. I've used it a couple of times at gigs, most infamously when I locked all my gear in the boot of my car on the way to a gig once and Tony lent me this to get through the gig!! It's a classic sounding SR5, plays great but has seen a bit of action in it's time so it's cosmetically not perfect. But if it's that MM sound you're after, then this is it! Collection preferred from Woodingdean near Brighton but it could be posted if absolutely necessary.. any questions, please PM me or post here and I'll pass them on for you and get a reply.. Here's some pics.. 9. Hello, That's a very nice bass.. Some history too! Good luck with the sale...

    SOLD

Maybe it's the time of year and not much money about?? I had this as a starter fretless for a few months and it got me interested enough to get a better fretless about three months ago when I bought an 80's Aria. As ben says, this is in great condition and it plays well & sounds pretty good, especially for £55! Good luck with the sale and have a free Sunday BUMP!
  11. Is this the one mentioned in BGM last month with Stanley Clarke involved?? Word definitely seems to be that it sounds amazing; it'd be good to hear some sound clips if there's any around? Congrats on fitting it yourself....
  12. Great story and photos - thanks for sharing that with us lesser mortals!! That modified Jazz looks so cool!
  13. 'Love Foolosophy' by Jamiroquoi... Awful, awful piece of music, albeit a great bassline! I've never liked JK, the song or any of his other stuff and partly because I'm not good enough and partly because I dislike the song so much, I have never played it well or properly in the 2 years I've been in the band (terrible attitude I know). Fortunately, using a slow and subtle brain-washing tactic on all of the members of the band has meant that we've slowly begun to drop it from our set.. I'm much, much happier now
  14. Very, very nice indeed - well done! And there we were thinking you'd gone mad selling all your other basses... Now we can see why.
  15.
Hmm, I think I lied
Now you're just teasing stingrayfan.... It's cruel, but fair !
  16.
+1 The 5 Stinger that is, not the brunette from Abba. Jeez Nik, what's wrong with you? Agnetha every day of the week. See?........
I bow to your superior knowledge and experience in these matters..!!
  17.
Ah, so he got it from you...good man! I've only corresponded via email; must've been nice to meet him (assuming you did). Seems like a really nice bloke. He's one of my favourite players of all time, and criminally underrated; I think he gets some incredible tones and his playing is utterly unique. I couldn't believe it when I found out his bass was passive; even with studio jiggery-pokery I'd have sworn that was an active bass. Whenever I'm testing basses out there are a couple of his lines I use; I've been trying to nail the tone on "Mile High Club" for years and never have (even my Wal Custom couldn't cop it). I was watching the Liverpool '82 concert last night and his tone on there seems to be incredibly thin and trebly and yet fat and growly at the same time. Great stuff.
+1 As we're going off topic here I've sent you a PM..
  18.
Leigh thought the same. He bought a Custom as a backup but ended up selling it because he didn't like it as much. I know because he told me! He now has another passive.
Absolutely spot on! Apart from being a genius of a bass player, Leigh has always managed to get an amazing sound out his Wals.. He bought my very early JG series Pro2 back in 1998 and it's his main gigging bass these days, though he does still have his original that he did all the BowWowWow records with.. Though the Pro 2's are described as 'passive', they actually have quite a lot of circuitry in them, a bit like a Peavey T-40 in a way. So although there's no battery, the electronics do create a lot of distinctive tones..
  19.
Lovely bass..... classic looks!
+1 I really like the control layout...
  20.
I love the white 'Blossom' one! Si
+1 very distictive looking basses but must admit, I've never heard of them before...
  21. Gorgeous bass!! Very similar to the one overwater#1 (Matt) has just been considering acquiring, though that's an active model. Good luck with it....
  22.
Why don't you come along to the SE Bass Bash in Guildford, it's not too far from Reading. You can see a lot of amps and cabs up close and talk to their owners. That's if you can wait that long. Details below: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=22439&hl=bash
Excellent idea! And much better than going to any shop because there'll be more variety and better 'customer service'..
  23.
I've been playing bass for the last 26 years and I have owned around 85 basses... Last year I had around 29 basses and I realised it was just too much...I started selling and now I have 19 basses...Two years I was an ebay-addict and bought a new bass every month (Sadowsky, 7 Wal basses in one year, Status, etc...). I finally realised that a lot of basses were not used enough and that they deserved to be played.. Now I think I could do with my Fender Marcus Miller, Wal MK I, Lefay Fretless and my Rickenbacker 4001..the others I have are great but I hardly use them (I have a Wal MKII 5 string which I haven't played for more than an hour during the past year, I think that is a shame though)
In that case, I think it's time I set up the first registered charity for deprived and neglected bass guitars that suffer from a degrading form of the worst kind of social exclusion imaginable... inflicted upon them by greedy and wasteful bass guitar collectors!!! We'll be round in the morning to start 'freeing' up these long-suffering instruments and will work tirelessly to help rehabilitate them back into the community.
  24. Lovely looking bass and I imagine it sounds pretty good too!
  25.
MB1. My First proper Bass, possibly 28 years old....older than some Basschatters!
Very nice bass MB1!! I have an almost identical one (fretless model) sitting right here next to my PC that I bought from pete.young a few months ago and it's a great bass! It came with the original receipt from when Pete first bought it back in 1986 I think... I'm sure Pete won't mind me sharing these photos with you: TBH, it's a much nicer bass than I expected and it's certainly too good for a ham-fisted fretless player like me.. The output from the pick up is really strong and it sounds great, especially for a passive bass!
