  1. Just from that -- I'd say it's going to be alright, and I wouldn't go escalating matters unless Richard turns out to be a 'Richard'. 🙂
  2. Along with one of the best bass players that couldn't play the bass. 👍
  3. It's bizarre. Either there's a case of mistaken identity (somebody else sent them back an amp that was clearly thrown down some stairs, and they've gotten that person mixed up with you), or they must be the single worst music shop ever! If you can't speak to somebody sensible at the shop -- Small claims court?
  4. I liked the sound of the Fender flats for a while, but boy are they high tension! 😬
  5. If you haven't seen it already -- You might enjoy Rick Beato's 'What makes this song great' series, BT. 🙂 Example: https://youtu.be/xKIC9zbSJoE
  6. Is salted or unsalted butter best for a bass? 🤔
  7. Sometimes there's a great deal to be learnt from the bass part that ended up on a record. Other times not so much. 😗
  8. Crikey Ray, I freaking LOVE your playing! 😍
  9. Fleetwood Mac, Talking Heads, Steely Dan. 😬 Then with other acts I've never given a chance, it seems I was right all along! Like all prog, British 'blues' from the 60s & 70s, and Springsteen! 🤮
  10. There's too many! 😬 Mostly female. Ella, Etta, Aretha, Diana, Carla, Dusty, Shirly, Whitney, the list goes on... Not so many dudes do it for me... Freddie, Jagger, Bob Marley, Ray Charles, Otis (obviously), Stevie... Hairs stand up on the back of the neck performance! ^^^^^^^ ❤️
  11. If you PM @Rich and ask nicely, he'll remove your swear filter on an individual case by case basis. 👍 Don't tell him that I said. 😶
  12. I had a short (29") scale for a while, and it was a revelation. Every song that I couldn't keep up with on the long scale bass, was easy on the shorty. In fact, I would get used to playing fast lines on the shorty, then transfer to the 'longy', and my new-found speed was still there! I became so good, that I had to swap the shorty for a mixer, because I was in danger of showing off -- Yes I was getting that good. Now I realise that medium (32") scale is the best of all, although I have never owned or even played one. Hope this helps. 👍
  13. Nobody likes a show-off. 😒 Do you remember the thread about bass players taking the hand off the neck? That didn't end well either. 😄
  14. Well, if all the subjective thread were closed, we wouldn't have much to chat about. Except facts. FACT! 😗
