    If that's meant for me - Yes... if Mr Barrett does tune them up to EADG - They're gonna be tighter / higher tension. That might be the key to a great reggae bass sound you know...

    Hrm, well I don't know, but if the Fender is still his 'main bass' for playing all the Wailers stuff -- I assume standard tuning. Along with incredibly high string tension from those over-fat Fender flats. Maybe that's the key. 😃

    For £2.60 inc P&P, they'll do me fine! If not, I have a mig set that I've not used in 10 years. They'll come in handy for that. 👍

    I suppose there are many factors involved. 🙂 I read somewhere that Aston Barrett uses a 5 string set on his 4 string Jazz bass, discarding the thin one.

    Pah, having a section of your inner forearm removed for comfort, and never being able to sell the thing, is a small price to pay if you ask me. 😃

    Have a look at the various mod' bits, i.e. at https://retrovibe.co.uk/ I bought the flat treble pup surround, which allows me to play off the edge of the pup, like a Fender bass. 🙂 Arguably it doesn't look as good as the Rickenbacker chromework, but it is completely reversible. 👍

    Yup, I can't see how the bass in the OP can be designated a 4005 when it is such a 360 c63 (bass).

    True dat. 👍 Actually, is the pic' a mock up? The front pup housing seems to be overlapping the binding, and the PG overlapping the rear pup... On reflection that's probably right!
