  1. My first band was called Defiants (although there was a strong leaning towards ETA - Eat the Afterbirth!) doing thrash covers and speeded up rock classics. I was involved with a group called Slightly Miffed after that, but not doing bass. Other groups were Maternoster, The Flesh Gods, Textured Air and Lowered Tones. A couple of mates and I formed The Baker Street Irregulars for a brief moment until one of them sodded off to Ireland - the git!
  2. Have an experiment! There are loads of different sounds to be had.
  3. I can range from a soft stroke to a full on spank, and vary from right at the base of the neck to down by the bridge depending on what sound I am looking for.
  4. I hate the sound my fingernails make, so keep mine as short as possible and manicured smooth on my plucking fingers.
  5. Likewise, Mk1 XR2, 205 GTi, and an S14 200SX would have been nice to keep hold of.
  6. I consider myself something of an authority on the subject!
  7. I think we need a new poll, about scones. It needs three options though as you haven't mentioned the correct way!
  8. I think there is consensus here...
  9. Jeff Beck, is a legend with an enormous body of work.
  10. I regret not buying the only fretless Retrovibe Zygote on the planet.
  11. Any fan of The Goldbergs TV series will have heard of Rush.
  12. I agree, whilst technically brilliant where is the melody? Music needs to be appreciated by non-musicians too. Proof of the saying - just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
  13. I've broken a couple back when I used to play heavy stuff at a million miles an hour, but not for ages. Normally the E string on a 4er, whilst going for it. There's a recording somewhere of me breaking one playing Born to be Wild about 40bpm too fast - you can actually hear it stretch out. That one broke right under my plucking hand.
  14. Festival sound is a totally different proposition to venue type gigs, my brother has been doing it for over 20 years and is bloody awesome at it.
  15. ^^ Badumtish! I've already posted on another thread about the pro percussionist who blew my mind with his skill on a triangle - he had a whole bag full of different devices and was adept with them all. I rate him as one of the most dedicated and skilled musicians I have ever encountered.
  16. I must watch this, and nice to hear that about the spanners
  17. I get 'Listing not found'
  18. I would have said that Rickenbacker is more of an original VW Beetle - old design with massive flaws but loads of people still really like them.
