  1. I was wondering if @KiOgon would know anything about these? I have the same bass with a bit of a buzz and was thinking of refreshing the electronics.
  2. Absolutely, recycled content ahoy! It even recycles itself 😃
  3. I usually play a 5 but don't mind a 4, especially for drop-D. 5s are just easier to get around on and the low notes are cool, they go great with synths too. I own way more 4s because all the weird/old/cool stuff I like was made that way. Very few of mine see a stage but they are there for noodling or studio requirements. Someday I'll upgrade my two fivers (fretted and fretless) but it's not a big need.
  4. My grammar school music teacher taught us how to sing properly. 40 years on I still hear him in my head coaching me on breathing and the phrase "Projection, dear boy!"
  5. Me neither, GF is a huge fan so it would be rude not to!
  6. Yes! I saw Puscifer recently so am fully up to speed 🙂
  7. I'm seeing the real deal next month 🙂
  8. There's one in our band HQ, also free. It has a functioning Leslie too, it's great! Makes some lovely noises and is fun to mess around on.
  9. That is really excellent, thank you for for sharing. Some really evocative tunes - I was checking off the ones in my old vinyl pile! Have to agree with @silverfoxnik re. the folk/goth connections - both are significant parts of my own musical heritage and the links are very strong in many ways. As you say in the film though - goth as a movement is an extremely broad church! That realisation of how your playing is informed by these early influences is a fun point too. I can remember going back to records my parents and peers played long before I started playing - having sudden light bulb moments of "Oh wow - that's where I got that from!"
  10. Found the original thread.. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/329487-nbd-yob-ibanez-p/#comment-3582034
  11. I have an Ibanez P-bass which is pretty much the same age as me, that's good enough for me. It's a lovely thing and I enjoy playing it. Knowing we have been around for the same amount of time is a feeling all of its own.
  12. The Zutons' original actually makes sense. The Ronson/Winehouse version has a feel that is completely at odds with the lyrical content. It's a fun sounding tune, but I much prefer the original.
  13. Very sad to read this - sincere condolences to you and yours
  14. The inspiration for MDP's fanned tuners. Good job it was wireless then!
  15. He behaves exactly like other (now banned) members. Almost as if it is a duplicate account, this is frowned upon I believe.
  16. That is just your opinion. I don't agree, and I'm sure I am not alone.
  17. You can end the thread here. Best. Theme. Ever.
  18. Oof, some proper pretty wood there ^^
  19. I have asked the same question about many of these type of videos. I'm sure they don't worry about the theory and just play what sounds good. There's one I saw recently that tried to break down the time signatures of a Tool drum part, I'm pretty sure Danny Carey isn't sat there thinking about 4 different time signatures while he is playing! It's about feel and groove. Edit - took this from Danny Carey's wiki entry He has also stated that when he is playing to an odd time signature, he tries to drum to the "feel" of the song and establish general "inner pulse" for the given time signature instead of fully counting it out.
  20. I lent them a bass once, it came back covered in make up!
  21. Mick Karn. Crap intonation, weird slidey 'bwarp' noises. Sounds like someone didn't learn how to play fretless properly.
