http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=101923 Shadow SH950 double bass pickup this is brand new, not even out of the box, never got round to fitting it looking for £100 delivered The Shadow SH950 is an improved version of the "Underwood" pickup. In size, appearance and application the two pickups are virtually identical. The system consists of two "lugs" that are simply slotted - or if necessary fitted - in to the "ears" of the bridge. The two lugs are connected by a sturdy coaxial cable which terminates with a black plastic covered standard 6mm (¼ in) in-line jack socket. http://www.contrabass.co.uk/sh_950_pickup.htm Not the actual box but Identical!

6. Yeah I'm still wanting to store up to 5 basses just maybe something side on..
7. Hi I just bought a Hercules GS515B Adjustable 5-Guitar Stand, second hand but in great nick. Seems like a really great stand but just toooo big for me anyone fancy swapping a similar but smaller stand like a warwick rockstand? Will let it go for £40 plus P+P
8. What exactly do you mean by 'pop attack' I have a bassmax on both my basses and use a doubler but haven't really noticed anything specific but I'll have a wee noodle about and see if I get the same thing.
9.
Are you absolutely sure it's a laminate? I've got one of these from around the same period and mine's definitely a solid top and back.
I have one of these from the sixties and it's deffo fully carved, can you follow the grain on the top to the edge?
10.
Do you fancy writing up a quick how-to? It looks excellent from here, I've got a fairly orange and very cheap bass I would like to have at.
I'll give it a wee go you can take heart from the fact that I'm the most DIY averse person I know!
11. Hey Dara It's the doubler and a CX112L so quite a bit heavier than the wizzy I reckon, I think it sounds great with the upright and a electric bass I love it I think oyu really get the sound of the bass, I suppose it might be a bit clean sounding for some folks but I'm digging it.
12. I just had my bass set up and a bit of work done to the fingerboard an endpin sorted and a new adjustable bridge set up by Ken MacDonald in Edinburgh, he did a really great job and very reasonable but you have to wait as he is so busy.

Oh, you can sand it down and make it look lovely! Nice work!
Cheers Steve I had a couple of wtf am I doing this for moments I can tell you!
18. Here are some before pics I thought the bass looked a bit orange but maybe that was just me.
19.
Looks great! I'm jelous of the 'doubler'. Are they velvet strings? How do you find them? Cheers Geoff
Hi Geoff cheers for the reply the strings are Innovation Rockabillys, I almost bought some Velvet Animas a while back heard great things about them. I love the doubler though. cheers Stevie
20. A while back I picked up a Michael Poller bass really cheap and stripped the lacquer as it looked a bit orange and I thought as it was a bargain basement bass, I just had it restringed and had an adjustable bridge fitted. The luthier actually said it was a good instrument worth in the region of £1500 I kinda regretted stripping it but its done now and I like it! Some lacquer was ingrained in the grain so it has a kinda mottled look which looks cool imho, but I can always darken the stain to even it out at some point. Anyway here are some pics, what do you reckon?
21. I has a Cort in the early 80s it was rubbish, it was full size so that was an upgrade, but it played sh*te and looked like a jobby....
