1. Thanks for the replies I have some pics on another thread, I'm getting the impression that it has a carved top going to to take it to a luthier next week. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=85731
 2.
Also available here I've got one, it falls off occasionally, might be worth ordering 2 or 3 in case you loose one in transit!
It's always falling of drives me nuts trying to locate a black ball in some rehearsal room carpark at midnight!
 3. I was looking for these as well and notice these guys have them dunno if they will fit though. http://www.vivaceviolin.com/scp/Accessories/Bass.html I use one of these, Super Endpin ball. 4.
Even though GG were offering the TecAmp stuff at silly prices, the quality of the product hasn't changed. The perceived value of something is a funny thing...
£350 wow that is cheap.
 5. Don't often see these on Gumtree http://glasgow.gumtree.com/glasgow/85/57884685.html
 6. Going to the Violin Shop in Glasgow tomorrow to get the once over.
 7. Well I haven't had the chance to take it to a luthier but got the next best thing ..... a guitar playing joiner! He said it's definitely a solid wooden top not laminate ,so I'm pretty pleased about that.
 8.
Looks as if it should be all laminate to me - but, hey, if it was cheap....
That's what I though but I can there is definitely see grain continuing on the sides of the top and in the f holes which suggests the top is carved, I'm no expert as I say and I'd be quite happy with a laminate, I'll get someone more in the know to look at it. It's badged 'Michael Poller, producator, De Vioara, Bucaresti' and they make a POLLER SCHOOL BASS Laminated front and back, medium brown varnish and a MICHAEL POLLER BASS Carved maple back and ribs, carved spruce front, medium brown varnish. I'm obviously hoping it's the latter, mind you it looks identical to this so might be a laminate. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3%2F4-Double-Bass---...4#ht_659wt_1113 Cheap enough to spend a bit of cash on it though which is cool.
 9. Hi while looking through the local ads I found this Michael Poller Romanian bass really, really cheap so I took a punt on it. My First impressions are it needs new strings and a setup. I thought it was going to be all laminate but I think the top is carved, I'm no expert but the grain seems to continue to the edge of the top But the idea is to string it with gut type strings and use it as a back up, advice much appreciated i hope I got a bit of a bargain here but if I didn't that's life! I've added a bunch of pics so any info advice would be appreciated

 11.
The poor man's 57 setup is another option.
The elastic bands looks a bit crazy but the one with the modified fishman looks cool
 12.
I sometimes use a DPA 4099 mic via a headway preamp.
That looks good what about the ATM350?
 13. Cheers I was thinking about clip ons though I know audix do a mic for brass instruments
 14. Hi Folks looking for a mic to blend with my pick up so I'm after some suggestions, any idea much appreciated.
 15. A bloke contacted me through the Rickenfaker facebook page and asked if my Ibby was one of these, I did a bit of quick googling and found this http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/...ng-c231689.html
 16. Hi folks I have a chance of picking up a Romanian bass badged 'Michael Poller' as a back up just wondered if anyone has any views on them, I've yet to see it but imagine it'll be a laminate, although they make carved basses. I was wondering if anyone has any experience of them and how they size up in relation to other student level basses Stentors and the like, Steve on here has one and he has been very helpful, just looking for opinions. Cheers Stevie
 17.
Another good one is " I want what I paid for it" Why? it's six months older and had had one more owner lol! just accept depreciation
In some circumstances if I picked some up at well below the market value, I would try and get what I spent on it back as opposed to flogging it on for a profit.
 18. I had a Boss Me50B that I thought was very good...
 19.
INteresting. Mine has a hole for the endpin already built into the material.
Mine has one as well unfortunately.
 20.
I got one on ebay a couple of weeks ago for £33 (bid not buy now) There was one on there for 99p but it had days to go.
That's really cheap I lost the rubber foot from my endpin and it poked through the material in the bag, now my zip is a bit goosed it's infuriating, you can't exactly get a needle and thread out and mend it!
 21. Unfortunately they are quite pricey, I have a Gewa I picked up second hand for 70, maybe a local violin store might have something?
 22.
They don't know how to EQ properly. That's all it is.
What he said....
